Looks really nice. Looks like fully 3d characters this time, no? Volt was rendered sprites I believe.

So I'm sure I missed the discussion on this, but Trigger Fist....good? At $0.99 I'm going to bite as it looks like a shooter that would actually work on iOS.

Very worth it. Only problem is not enough players online.

Mage Gauntlet is pretty good. Worth checking out.

I'm happy on my willpower today. Saw Modern Combat 3 for 99 cents and didn't pick it up. You won't fool me again, Gameloft!

I'm not exactly a fan of game loft games, but MC3 is actually pretty good.

Really getting through TWEWY now, it's much more fun than it first seems. The game is pathetically show, it's really a crime that I'm still unlocking stuff at day 6. Tutorials are one thing, but when seemingly every big battle is throwing new stuff in, I wished they'd juts have compressed it more and trusted the player's intelligence. The story is still pretty naff and is way overwordy, this game is almost more of a visual novel than RPG sometimes. But it was cool that I just found out
I'm dead, and all the players are
. That got my attention, let's see where it goes.

Also been playing Bastion still. It's such a beautiful game, it's such a joy to play on a device like this. Pitta's comment about it feeling like it's coming to life in your hands is dead on the money, and the intimate, storybook feel is really appropriate for a device you hold like a book. And it plays magnificently too, all those haters in the 'OT' for it, and I'm just eating it up it's so good.

EDIT: oh man that song in that one level was gorgeous. At first I thought it was cool in the background but I got a little rush of goosebumps when i came across the singer herself. Very beautiful, it sounded a lot like Feist.

Need more time in my day to play these!

Just finished playing the free prologue of final fantasy dimensions. I'm liking it but can't seem
To justify buying it all for $29. Yet.

Any suggestions to good free RPGs on iOS?

Particularly turn based.

Do Square-Enix iOS games ever go on sale?

I know their games are higher quality, but $17 for TWEWU and $9 for Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana seems much since they are not even Universal Apps. Also anyone know a decent App that will notify me as soon as a game goes on sale so I don't miss it?

AppShopper is your friend. They have a companion app that'll give you push notifications.

I mean visually that looks great. But how the heck are you even remotely going to play that? I thought marvel Vs Capcom iOS was a chore. And I waited for weeks for that game to get a speed an bug patch. And I'm fairly certain it never recieved a single update.

Volt is a damn fine game. Probably the best touch controls in the game. MvC2 was a sloppy port. Looks so far like they're cribbing heavily from Volt.

Mage Gauntlet devs are working on a full on Dungeon crawler with classes, random dungeons yet the same style and controls as Mage Gauntlet...

I salivate at the prospect.

Appshopper as already mentioned is amazing and yes Square-Enix games do go on sale

they'll probably do something before then but they definitely will have a big sale come Christmas

Bastion is incredible.. I haven't enjoyed a game this much in years. I'm deliberately pacing myself so it lasts longer. For $5.49 AUD this is fantastic value

Yeah it's great especially the soundtrack, beat it just before the iOS release came out so im gonna pretend I played it on the iPad hah

It's one of those games that you go, man I really should have listened to all the praise and played it when I bought it on sale a year ago

If you have just completed Bastion but you want another cool story in a 'realistic' sci fi setting...I would advice you Waking Mars (completely different game and pace, but personally I loved it, especially the endings).

Aquaria is cool too, even if after Bastion controls are not that nice anymore.

No opinion on Mage Gauntlet.

I can't play the iPad Bastion (rocking a first-gen iPad :() but it warms my heart to see so many new converts to this gem. I've played the 360 version several times. The soundtrack is available to stream and buy via BandCamp here. Though I really suggest people don't "spoil" themselves to the last few songs until they've finished the game, as that haunting male-vocal song is just sublime when experienced in-game.

Noticed some mocking of toucharcade's reviews a few pages/days back and got me thinking about starting my own ios game site (I already have a domain), anyone interested in writing reviews or news, PM me for details.

Gonna work my way through my backlog. Which should I play next: Aquaria, Waking Mars, or Mage Gauntlet?

I second Pitta's opinion here but for a different reason. Play Waking Mars first as it's a lot shorter. Aquaria is around 20 hours long and can be a slog. But once you're hooked you'll be into it. Both are great games though.

IMO Mage Gauntlet is just OK, there's something about the game that didn't jive with me, but I have no more a specific feeling than that.

Speaking of Mage Gauntlet, I've been stuck in Tetramont's Estate 2 for, like, 6 months. What do I do here?

edit: ffs, a chest spawned after I blew all my spells.

Agree with everything. Go with Waking Mars first, then go to Aquaria. Personally I enjoyed Waking Mars more, but Aquaria is great too.

Same with Mage Gauntlet. I can't point my finger on why, but the game didn't really click with me. It might be the humor, I think it tries too hard. Don't like the art direction either, but the game does have some positive things going for it.

I know I am a bad person for playing The Simpsons: Tapped Out, but here we go anyway...

Won't you be my neighbor? Origin username is grey_stag807

okay completed organ trail. it owned and managed to survive with just two of the starting five. bit sad that it ended though, wish it had a end game to it!

is 1000 Heroz down for anyone else? every other app is accessing the internet just fine, but Heroz says "no network connection"

=/

Home, a sidecrolling psychological horror game available now for PC and on Steam, may be coming to iOS next year.

Here's the official site: http://www.homehorror.com/

It's pretty good. A single playthrough is very short but it's meant to be played numerous times to understand what is going on better. You do this by making difference choices during a playthrough.

Looks and sounds like a really cool game. Should make a nice fit for iOS.

So I went for a run with the updated Zombie, Run! The voice that comes on to tell you your km markers and times is the same robot voice that talks to you when you pick up supplies. Sometimes it's hard for me to understand, but it works. I guess it would be weird if the radio guys came on and told you, so the robot voice is fine. But when I was nearing the 5km mark, my phone totally flipped out on me. It was wildly shuffling my songs, it started going into voice control mode for no reason, and it started playing music that wasn't in my playlist over the music from the app so they were both going at the same time.

I closed the app but all the weirdness continued, so I guess it wasn't the app that was screwy. I run with my phone in my Spibelt, so maybe some sweat got inside or maybe it was my headphones. I dunno. Seems to be working fine today though.

One more question about the supplies you pick up. Is there a right or wrong place to distribute the supplies? I mean, it makes sense to put the bandages into the medical area, but will doing so make it level up faster than if you were to give the wrong supplies to the wrong place?

Don't feel bad, until you said something just now I thought it was automatically distributed and I just was doing a shitty job or something :P

My iPod just dd the exact same thing as yours last night, too. But, I just started using a new pair of crappy 1$ Earbuds so that was my suspicion. Did you perchance just buy new earbuds too?

I swear, I love the game but that voice is like having your internal monologue voiced by Stephen Hawking. And the first day I went running every time I picked up "crutches" I kept hearing "crotches" and I was all wondering what kind of kooky British slang I was listening to.

It's really funny to picture Runner 5 carrying like 10 medkits, files, 2 crutches, and a sports bra. They sure don't make it easy, do they?

I just wish that it would use the accelerometer on the iPod Touch to gauge distance and speed. I mean, Nike+ does it and while it isn't as accurate as GPS, it's still pretty good.

Still, one of my favorite apps and I can't wait for new seasons.

The earbuds I used were the stock pair that come with the phone. Actually, they are my wife's, as mine died a few months back. I know they're not the best, but I've never had my phone completely wonk out on me like that before. Having the phone randomly go into voice control mode made me think that it wasn't the earbuds to blame. I really have no idea. I'll try it out again tonight though.

The new update is nice, but I agree, I still wish they would do just a bit more to service the serious runners. Although to be fair, I haven't checked out that zombielink thing and I don't know what kind of info they post on there. It should be available in-app though. But at least we know the developers are trying to make it better. You say there are new seasons coming? I had no idea. That's really great news!

I also scared the shit out of some poor woman on a bike last night. I was stopped at a red light when a zombie horde was detected. I couldn't wait for the light so I turned around and started sprinting the way I came and there was a woman right behind me who seemed really shaken up by my erratic running patterns. Kinda funny though. She actually startled me a bit, too.
