Hunters 2 is so godly. I've put over 15 hours in this week, and FF tactics is one of my favorite games of all time.

I wasn't terribly impressed with Hunters 1, but anyone who felt similarly should not be put off from trying 2. It's really amazing.

Same here.

The only thing that mitigates the fact we won't see Hunters 3 anytime soon is that I'm desperately waiting for Warhammer Quest.

If they manage to have variable quests in the vein of the contracts, all wrapped up in a greater story based campaign.....

This would fill me with joy frankly.

Here's a hidden gem that just came out from one-man team, Gamesmold. It's called Blood Roofs, a solid 3D runner with tilt controls. Had no idea what to expect and was pleasantly surprised:

http://itunes.apple.com/app/BloodRoofs/id497008717?mt=8

Well, the fact that it was created by one guy/gal is totally impressive, but honestly, it didn't look great the first time I saw it months ago, and it looks worse in action after watching a significant amount of gameplay.

Granted, the visual style may not be for everybody, but after playing the game (not watching it), I found it compelling enough to keep wanting to play it. :)

Super Hexagon is pretty awesome.

The style is great, it's universal and it's pretty addictive. It's pretty hard though.

Super Hexagon would be double-awesome if Jenn Frank wasn't repeatedly mocking me. "Game Over" fuck you. There needs to be an option to turn it off at least.

Finished Bastion last night. WOW. Tears in my eyes in that end section, so powerful.

are there any good CIV-like games on IOS?

(Civ Revolutions is not a good game, too streamlined and casual and I hate the art design)

will they ever release a PROPER Civilization game on iOS?

How did you finish Bastion? I'm in the last area and when the game goes it load it crashes. I'm starting to hate this game.

I'm truly baffled by this statement. I thought it was solid, with a polished, sensible interface and design, but "godly"? Not even close. For iOS, I'd label it "worth checking out," but after forcing myself to push through for more hours than I truly felt inspired to play, I had to erase it.

There's just a lot of little bits that "click" for me. I really like the way the weapons and class systems work. Some of the upper-level skills are really awesome. Not to mention I love being able to manufacture anything the shop has failed to give me.

Even the "special gift" offers are awesome. I did one last night that made heavy weapons require one less AP to fire. I don't know if that's just a temporary bonus though.

Different strokes for different folks, but Hubters 2 really just does it for me :)

No idea what's wrong for you man, I just played it. Never had a single crash all through. Maybe give the devs a holla? Or youtbe it but on your iPad, and then hold your thumbs like you would the stick and buttons. That's a close replica :P

I'll send them an email. I'm playing on an ipad 2 not sure if that is the problem or not.

I've completed Bastion (2 times now, normal and game+ to see the extra dream sequence) and hadn't a single problem (iPad 3).
Maybe it's a memory problem, are you jailbroken?
Did you tried to completely shutt off your iPAd before playing the last part?

Anyway, it's worth it, AWESOME game.
Storytelling at its finest...some endings are soooooo cool....had an audio-visual excstasy.

No thanks.

If you're any decent at racing games you won't have to buy those.
You can win 1,000,000 coins just playing the game for 2 hours. And with that you can buy pretty much everything in the game.

Angel Salvation is FREE right now.

Seems Dungeon Raid / Puzzle Quest like.

Actually, I really dig the visuals. The game has a kind of Lovecraftian/Castlevania thing going. But collision detection seems...not great, and the jumping looks floaty and imprecise. Of course, I haven't played it, so you're in a better position to judge. I'll try it if it comes down in price, but it doesn't look like something I want to throw $3 at.

I bought it 2 weeks ago and I must confess I'm addicted, even if I shouldn't.
I like it more than Legend Four (which I already completed).
It has no story and mechanics are explained really bad, but after you get it it is, at least for me, really addictive.
You basically go throu a series of quests and events (ie: fights) with a party of heroes...doing so you can strenghten and evolve your heroes in more powerful ones, and so on...
I understand it is a 'westernized' clone of a Jap famous title (I can't recall the name tough).

Any fun, engaging games with cute animals and cartoon graphics that are somewhat challenging? Want to occupy my gf with something.

the christmas tree problem

going to the forest trying to find a christmas tree might take longer than one thinks, might be frustrating as well...

From your description, I think something shiny on a bit of string would do just fine too.

I'msorryI'msorry, the 'occupy her with something' made me lol

Hey GAF, our latest game Bounty Racer is now FREE :)

App Store link

If you want to try a cool offroad racing game made by a two-man team, now is the time!

Try this, it's a really fun game.

The titular bounties award you a ridiculous amount of coins. I did one that took a few minutes, I won, and it awarded me a few hundred thousand coins. Coins are not an issue.

i guess you missed the OT it got ;p
Looks like it :lol

I usually play muted so that hasn't really affected me :p

That reminds me, I gotta play Bastion. Bought it on PC and got bored after the first two or so missions.

I suppose the controls could use some tightening up, and one of the reviewers made a suggestion regarding the ability the adjust the tilt sensitivity which I agree with. I do agree that the jump is a bit floaty, it would be much improved if the player had control over the height of the jump depending on how long you hold it. Still, despite these issues, which could be improved with a few updates, the game's fun. $3 might be too much for some though as you've stated, but I personally found it worth it.

Btw, how does Free My Apps work? I had 'Kno Textbooks' running for more than 30 seconds, but when I go back to Free My Apps I didn't get any credit.

If you have already downloaded it before for any other reason, you won't get credit for the app. Either that, or you just need to wait for the system to refresh and credit you for the app.

One of my personal most anticipated releases came out this week.

Anyone who likes Peggle should check out Paplinko by Game Circus. They made the Coin Dozer and Prize Claw games. So addictive.

I've been playing this on my Nexus 7 and it's a little disappointing. You run out of balls fast, and it regenerates 1 per minute when playing and 1 every 15min when not playing (You can drop 4 at a time). It's all built around guiding you to the IAPs to continue playing or downloading sponsor apps for more balls. Also pretty ugly with weird frame rate glitches, but those could be Android exclusives :P

christ yeah don't play bastion muted. that would be diaster.

I think he was referring to Super Hexagon's "game over" sound effect.

Jenn Frank has her revenge on us, finally.

Just updated, thanks. I understand I can delete the cashed-in app afterwards?
Yes, you can delete it right after you get credited.

So many users now that sponsor apps often disappear within hours. If you get into the habit of checking often though, you can rack up lots of credits. I've probably got about $200 so far (but I have multiple iOS devices).

Thank you so much for this post. I reckon it's much more convincing when it comes from a player rather than the developer.
Honestly, I think our in-game currency model is really generous. The only players who would buy coins are prolly those who want to customize their driver's look before they even start playing. We secretly hope there are lots of them.

Whatever happened to Middle Manager of Justice? It was up in the US store for a hot second, then it was gone, and now it's still not up... :/

Just found out, from the PSO2 update blog of all places, that Rhythm Thief for iOS is apparently going to be demoed at TGS. I've only played the demo on 3DS (I own the game but haven't gotten around to actually playing it) but I had a blast with it. Definitely something to look out for.

So, i just downloaded Wild Blood... I'm at work, so i couldn't play it much, but i messed a little in the tutorial and seems quite good actually..

The first impression is that it's Gameloft's Devil May Cry clone... Will definitely play more as i arrive home. Really enjoyed the tutorial and the game is really beautiful as well.

The page listing on itunes said this game has a multiplayer mode, based on the little i played, i can see it being really fun.
