Hmm, thanks - I didn't realise my saves were backed up there though? I sync to my desktop by the way rather than iCloud, so as far as I know if I delete the apps, my save goes with it. Also I thought most games still didn't support iCloud saves?

And not bad, thanks Enco, but that still doesn't really narrow it down too much, part of the problem is that there are hundreds, if not thousands, top quality games on iOS right now.

It depends on if the game supports iCloud or not, but I would say most games you have probably don't. Is the save data that important though? Sure for some games it's more important than others (RPG's and such) but for others it's not a huge loss you can't recover should you want to play that game again and the Game Center achievements are saved if you want to keep those. Your call.

Checked out the page for ABS after seeing everyone namedrop it for a couple of pages with explaining what it actually is. Looks fucking tedious, skip!

Will definitely be getting Kids vs Goblins later today though, been waiting for this game for ages. I have exactly one day to eke all the gameplay I can from it before Mass 3 arrives and steals my free time for the next month...!

Also, I found out to my displeasure that plugging your phone in and syncing it after a full format of windows means you have to wipe the fucker. Godamn... luckily most games I play now are score attack rather than story games. I think the only game I have with a save is FFT, and this will now be the 5th time I've started it and I'm properly sick of the first few battles now. Gah. But at least I finished up the GTAs before the Great Purge...

I think the ABS controls are fine for what it is. he movement is kind of limited but I don't think it needs any more.

Also did anyone else find the
Secret Catalogue
inside the Tower of Books? Now I have to search everywhere in case I miss something ;_;

Do you always have the checklist with you when you're on the road? Can I borrow the checklist?
:lol

It's pretty much just common sense bro.

I honestly don't undersand how you justify that?
Hell, with this race to the bottom pricing sometimes I feel I am ripping the devs off.
I knew that would be disagreed with.

I'm all for paying for good stuff but for me I have yet to see an app worth more than that. I got GTA CW and I have hardly played it. I find my self spending much more time on small apps. I'm not one of those that says 69p is my limit but I have to draw the line somewhere.

Like someone else said, this mainly only rules out SE games and I don't like any of those so it's cool.

edit: There can be exceptions to the rule but I have yet to see any that suit my taste

Mistake made there. You shouldn't have synced first. Just connect, and pick transfer purchases. Then sync after that is done.

2. Is it $8.99/£5.99 or over? If yes, no buy

It's comments like this that give the impression that iOS gaming is all crappy 99 cents games. I've got a few higher priced games that I've enjoyed. I look at it this way, I get the chance to have so many free games that I can amitize (sp?) the cost of the higher priced games against those.

One of the best WiiWare titles is comin to IOS - MotoHeroz

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gameplay-trailer-motoheroz/727772

Day 1 for me !!!

I put about 30 hours into the WiiWare version, so I'm really curious as to how they'll handle this port.

via the redlynx forums

Some levels are based on the best WiiWare levels but more or less tweaked and redecorated. There are still many brand new levels. This time there are six different vehicles each with own set of levels. No more space and water levels! The Moon world is also almost completely redesigned. It looks way better now. Some new artwork is included in every world.

This time you can also upgrade your vehicle. Some levels have now different driving lines for fully upgraded vehicles and basic vehicles. A lot more variation!

Also note that the asynchronous multiplayer is not a separate game mode. Racing against leader board ghosts is integrated directly into the single player mode. Every time you play you are racing against two ghosts: next star ghost (or your own if you already got three stars) and a leader board ghost. Leader board ghosts are automatically retrieved so you always have someone better than you to compete against.

Looking for some good ipad games/books/education apps for my 2 1/2 year old, any suggestions?

Cinderella/Three Bears/Bizzy Bear on the farm are all great, made by the same company.
My first app by the hungry caterpillar guy.
Tozzle.

These are all big hits with mine. Tozzle is iPhone but looks fine on iPad.

Holy shit. Your kid is 2.5 now? I remember when you guys got pregnant

Mine likes Uzu, Into the snow, async corp, videos, any drawing app, jelly defense, and mahjong.

ahhh, that sounds more logical. I'll try it with my Pad tonight then, I don't sync that as much so I haven't plugged it in yet. The problem is that it says that my device is synced to another computer and so needs to be wiped. Will the purchase transfer still work if it's saying that?

Is it compatible with Touch 4th Gen or not?

Should work fine, I've done it multiple times. Most recently when upgrading to Mountain Lion. Just make sure auto-sync is turned off and that your computer is authorized with your Apple ID before you connect the iPad. Then right click the device in iTunes and pick "Transfer Purchases from <device name>...".

iPad 2 and iPhone 4S only according to the store page.

According to the store page it says it's compatible with iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (4th generation), iPad 2 Wi-Fi, and iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G.Requires iOS 4.3 or later.

edit: this is listed under requirements, but clearly says it's not compatible with ipod touch at the top...weird :/

Has anyone played Yoots Tower on ipad?

Also, what are some good strategy games?
kinda like ghost recon or tactics ogre

Ravenmark is my favorite strategy game on iOS. I highly recommend it, it's less RPG than Tactics since there is no updating of units but it has a really deep story and fun gameplay mechanics.

No, comments like this are a result of developers cutting their price 50-75% within two weeks during SPECIAL SALE promotions.

This. I find it really hard to justify buying anything with a remotely 'high' price anymore due to such quick price drop sales. The 3 games I actually paid for in the last month have all gone free this week. It's getting to the point where I'm buying less and less because I just see it as a waste of money when I can just wait a bit and get them for nothing.

I'm not quite sure how this will change though. If someone like me, who has spent thousands on games over the years, is finding it hard to justify buying 'expensive' games then it's going to be even harder to change the mindset of the masses....

Well, I think some devs get a small cult following based on their rapport with gamers (or because of their past projects). So, they should be entitled to cash in on that excitement when their game finally drops.

Spent about an hour playing Adventure Bar Story so far. It's a lot of fun, but is definitely heavy on the grind, at least so far. It also looks pretty good on my iPad using Retinapad, not sure how it looks just using 2x though. The four way control scheme is annoying, but since its not an Action RPG, it doesn't matter that much. Amazing that it only costs 99 cents.

At work but want to carry on with ABS ;_;

There is no weird time limit for tasks is there? I think that bugged me the most in the atelier games.

Highly recommend people check out Football Manager Handheld 2012 while it's on sale if you have a passing interest in the sport. It's insanely full featured and is a Universal app. Not sure if there is any sort of cloud saving or not but I am having a blast with it as a huge fan of the PC game. $4.99 right now instead of $9.99.

Not sure if this has been posted, but iOS 5.1 raises the 3G download limit to 50MB.

Hopefully this leads to more Universal apps.

Yeah time fly's.

Thanks for the suggestions guy, I now have a Lightning McQueen kids iPad ready for the sales pitch for my new iPad ;).

My three year old LOVES "Elmo Calls," a Sesame Street app that fakes facetime calls with Elmo. It's 99 cents and there are a bunch of additional theme packs you can also pick up. Here's the link to the app.

So adventure bar story is already ~30 on top paid, which is pretty insane for a rpg. Props to them!

Not too sure I know what I'm doing just yet... but I can see potential!

damn you whoever recommended "power of coin", this shit is crack.

mzl.ccetzuga.320x480-75.jpg

for those not in the know, it's essentially a coin/medal pushing game (something you'd play at dave & busters and the like) with some RPG elements.

it's simple, and not very pretty graphically... but something about that rpg element mixed with japanese quirkiness keeps me coming back. plus the fact that you actually shoot the coins out in order to earn special XP and reward coins. be forewarned, there's IAP but you can totally not buy into it and just wait for your coins to refresh if you're patient.

Heh, I downloaded one of those coin drop games a year ago. I feel like redownloading one cause I'm a sucker for dumb crap like that

I downloaded a coin drop game a little while ago, but I never understood the point of it. I tried googling info about it, but I got nowhere.

So I'll ask here:

Wtf is the point in coin drop games?

yea, sadly there is no point. well, for me i'm trying to earn the treasures in the game. with this one, there's a bit of skill involved as far as trying to position the coins so that some of the better loot doesn't fall off the sides. but yea, it's a time waster in all its glory.
