The update for Kids vs Goblins is in review. We fixed the control and camera issues and a crash.

Also: price drop to $1. Which is insane since we spent 12 months on that game :D. Hope you like it!

That's good and all, but how about making the game playable on ipod touch?

Yes yes yes. I'm not gonna replicate Jedeyes post but absolutely worth it. I've spent some 12 hours playing it by now and I'm nowhere near done.

Regarding the price, the game is in its launch sale stage at the moment, I'm guessing it'll be priced the same as Ep1 at one point.

Really? I've heard the campaign is quite short.

Anybody is having impressions to share on...

- Mad Coaster?

- rComplex?

- Swordigo?

Those seems to be the most interesting games for this week...

Really? I've heard the campaign is quite short.

I play hardcore (you have permanent deaths) and am a min/maxer so I'm playing lots of dailies to level up and not die in the campaign which is hard. There's enough variety in dailies not to get bored for me.

I bought Mad Coaster. If you like Jetpack joyride you should like this game as well. Similar concept in which you are playing a survival game moving forward and trying to stay alive. The coaster setting is cool, and the game gives you objectives like Jetpack Joyride. When you complete a set of 3 objectives you upgrade your coaster, though I'm not sure what effect that has! There isn't really anything else unlockable outside of this. It isn't the best game in the world, and JJ is better, however for 99 cents I think it is worth playing. Something else to play when you want to give JJ a break!

I'm playing through Dragon's Lair 2, and I keep getting stone walled by this message about missing a treasure. I've been following the button prompts but I haven't seen any treasure. What gives?

Yeah, Swordigo is pretty good.

Perma deaths? Fire Emblem style? Ohhh, sounds good. :)

I need help sorting my giant iOS library on my new iPad.

How do you sort your games in folders and how do you name your folders?

On my iPhone I have the following folders.

GameInfo
Apps for game sites and game services like Steam, PSN, IGN, Game Center, OpenFeint etc.

Game collections
Collections, mostly retro, like C64, CapcomGame, iMAME, NamcoArcade, TurboGrafx etc.

Casual
Tiny Wings, Airport Mania, Peggle, Fruit Ninja, Flight Control etc.

Sports & Racing
Racing & sports games, including games like Bike baron and tony hawk pro skater 2.

Adventure
Magegauntlet, ace atterney, infinity blade, ghost trick etc.

Puzzle
Mr Driller, PuzzleBobble, Puzzle Quest, Osmos, Edge, Angry Birds etc.
Will probably take over 3 folders, so I need to divide this better as well.

Arcade
Tetris, DigDugRemix, PacMan, Street Fighter IV, etc.
Feels to generic, need better subgenres

Action
Death Worm, Minotron, Dr Awesom, Bit Trip Beat etc.
Feels to generic, need better subgenres

Platform
Hook-series, wheeler, Sonic CD, Giana Sisters etc.

Tower Defence
tower defence games

Strategy & Sims
Galcon, Worms 2, Simcity DLX, Game Dev Story etc.

Shooter
DoDonPachi, R-Type, InfinityGene, Doom

RPG
The Quest, Wolfenstein RPG, Phantasy Star 2, 100 Rogues etc.

Board Games

Will probably divide adventure and casual folders into more specifik names like Runner. Any adventure sub genrers besides point and click and action adventure?
suggestions for Puzzle sub genres?

any other genres you name your folders by?

I will probably have a single page devoted to the currently and most played games as well

How do you sort your games in folders and how do you name your folders?

I just alphabetise my games, or put them in folders by developers if they're like Kairosoft or someone and all their apps are very similar.

I don't use folders much though, I find that as soon as something's in a folder I just forget it's there and it never gets played.

Can someone with a new iPad who happened to waste his money on this game/tech demo like I did post some cityscape Sky Gamblers AS screenshots? Just curious to compare it to my iPad2, if they've actually done anything to improve the more glaring issues. The graphics up close are quite bad in such instances. But the game looks alright overall in motion, due to decent water and heat haze etc effects, and not flying so low, or flying above natural environments instead of cities. But yeah, cities are bad (imageshack downscaled them a bit).

At first glance this looks solid to me though... It's kinda weird with the standard for iOS games shifting so fast, I don't know whether to feel like this looks decent or meh.

i dont understand why these controller things needs to be so big.

something small like this that you can hook up when you need it would be much better.

LOL your designs are so suck! Please could you cut your both hands off. Why it need to connect the shits? just use bluetooth. The fuck!

I think they want iControlPad on most handheld devices and attachable all of them. Remember it is a Bluetooth controller, so you can play with it as "wireless".

Good work iceitcs!
I will edit text and images a bit when it goes up on the OP if you don't mind.
Yeah go ahead. I'm not good writer too anyway.

I'll ask again:

How can I transfer my saves from iphone to ipad? Infinity Blade (1) is the one I'd want to transfer, btw.

Also, since I barely got any replies... exlcusive ipad games (that aren't on iphone as I'm familiar with the phone...) I should be looking out for?

For most games, Infinity Blade is one of them, copy the contents of the game's Documents folder and paste it on the iPad at the corresponding spot. I've used iExplorer for the example but any program that can browse the file structure will do.

Swordigo is OK, I guess.
I finished it last night and got all but one of the achievements.

It's basically the Zelda 2 formula, just simplified and incredibly jankified.
Combat is much more limited and platforming is a bit more frustrating.
The graphics and animations are wretched, the controls are a bit floaty, the hit boxes a bit inconsistent, and the physics are odd, to say the least.

But it's a mostly enjoyable, though very easy, experience. There are kernels of good to great ideas in there somewhere. The writing's a bit crap with quite a few typos. Story sucks anyway so that's not really a big deal.

You can keep on leveling after you max out your stats (at 22), but the leveling doesn't accomplish anything for you at that point other than to refill your health. There are no additional stat increases after you've maxed out the core three attributes of health, magic, and attack power, again, just like Zelda 2. See if you can find the Zelda 2 easter egg! I found it by accident and couldn't help but grin.

And I still can't get over how vile the art style and graphics are. Damn.
Took me about 6 hours to finish. It's a decent value for its price, but it thoroughly lacks the polish shown in Soozis.

I concur.

Swordigo is passable and worth your time. But it's not a great game, by any stretch.

What other good management/tycoon/building games are there on iOS besides the Kairosoft games and Sim City?

I'll play one with pretty much any theme as long as it's fun and addictive, love those types of games.

Asphalt 6 runs pretty crappily with retina update on new ipad. Hope devs are able to optimize games to run better with the high resolution

How good is Hunters 2? How does it compare to other turn-based strategy flames like Fire Emblem or FFT?

A select summary of Hunters 2 posts on this page:

It's fantastic, I played it for hours until my neck hurt last night. It's beautiful, it's slick and fast to play and it's maybe one of the best TBS strategy games on iOS. Honestly, I'm enjoying it even more than FFT right now. It's a lot more simple of a game, but as a touch-to-move-squad-tactics game it's a lot more fluid to play and not nearly as clunky as FFT, while it of course never reaches the hardcore heights of that game either. IF you like TBS games you will love this so much.

No idea about the price though. Maybe they realised they were charging far too much, especially when you think of how barebones Hunters 1 is comared to the sequel.

Yes yes yes. I'm not gonna replicate Jedeyes post but absolutely worth it. I've spent some 12 hours playing it by now and I'm nowhere near done.

IAPs are completely non intrusive and absolutely not needed to play whatsoever. You barely even see the button to purchase them. The devs put it in because according to them there are people out there who are compelled to buy IAPs everywhere and it'd be foolish not to cater to them as well. That said, it's very much a nonissue in this game.

Regarding Ravenmark, played the Lite version an it completely failed to grab me. Medieval combat just is not exciting unless it's on TV. Scifi guns, explosions and gore tops that any day.

In short, it's great. :)

On another note:

Runs excellently on the new iPad, full touch input included. Sweetness. :)

Really enjoying Hunters 2. Playing on hardcore mode is the only way to play, already had to reset a couple of times because I underestimated this game's difficulty.

It actually minds me a lot of that Ghost Recon 3DS game. I approve.

iOS is becoming one of the best platforms for strategy/SRPG games. Between ports of classics like Shining Force and FFT and new gems like Ravenmark and Hunters 2, there's quite a few titles for fans of the genre.

Speaking of Ravenmark, it's what I'm playing right now and it's great. I'm surprised at the writting to be honest. Quality stuff. The lore is huge too, and also a good read.

After I finish it I'll probably buy Hunters 2.

King of Dragon's Pass is on sale from 10 to 8, it's never cheaper than that and has amazing reviews, oldschool text rpg. I'm sure many people here can post impressions, I personally don't have it but have heard great things and it also has 5/5 on Toucharcade.

It's so deep it makes the Mariana Trench look like a puddle. Read the tutorial stuff, like 3 times. I found it rock hard to get into to be honest as you need to revise before you even try and play it.

The rewards are great though, it's the "fullest" game on iOS arguably in terms of them not compromising, it's a full, old school, hardcore 90's PC game.

What do you mean 10 to 8? 10am to 8pm? It's $7.99 right now, is that the sale price?

I've been working on my shmup skills. Just broke into the top 10 in DDP:Res HD smartphone mode with 463mil. Not that impressive since there aren't as many people playing the HD version but it's easily my best score in any of the Cave games. I've only recently started 1CCing them on normal. I'm guessing most of the 500mil+ scores are in the second loop which I havent been able to manage yet.

Add me on GC if you play iOS shmups and haven't already, ZethGAF! Shogun is amazing btw, one of my go-shooters along with the Cave stuff.

I wish they would start porting xbox/ps2 games to the iPad. There's a ton of classics I'd love to replay!

freemyapps.com

whats the best bang for buck app on their current list (seeing as how they don't update sponsor updates as frequently anymore)?

was leaning towards infinity blade ii
do not want gtaiii (played gta enough to get sick of it)
intrigued by angry birds space
