Just read the postmortem for Monster's Ate My Condo here, really fun read and nice to see how the monster evolved over time, as well as the bizarro Cat Block being thrown in on the last day before submission :)

Can't wait for the soundtrack to pop up on Bandcamp -- it says soon, but it's not there yet. MAMC music was some of my fav from last year's iPhone collection.

I assume Sidhe's still very split on both console games and iPhone development? It's been Driving Games and Rugby titles for Sidhe, but PikPok seems to be having more fun at the moment :)

Ok, Monster Flip is seriously fucking awesome, great twist on the gem switcher mechanic and fantastic presentation. I was pleasantly surprised when I found puzzles. Definitely one of the better games on the platform, can only recommend.

Earlier I downloaded Heroes vs. Monsters because it looked like Battleheart and I'm enjoying the battle-system but there's just not enough loot and the progress is way too slow. Is Battleheart any better?

Seconded. My life these days is all PikPok.

Monster Flip, Slam Dunk Kings, and Monsters Ate My Condo. All ridiculously good and so stylish.

Anyone know any other games of that kind cleverness and slickness (see also: Whale Trail)?

Great read. What does he mean by 3 "Bad Condos"? One made of Bombs and Concrete?

I WANNA CAT BLOCK!!!!

There's so many people in the GAF Carc thread. I think I updated the OP list and most of those players are still active (well over a year later :P). I'd say 80% are regular but not hardcore players. Just off my list some of the newer players and also old-timers still kicking:
AirBrian
awesome animals (new)
bigwinnerx
Darkflight
Diesel Poineer (new I think)
eznark
Gamecocks625 (new)
mikeworks (new)
Proxii (new)

Leaving out at least 20 or so regular players but that's most of the new folks I can remember.

Has Carc ever been on sale. I'm huge fan of the board game and the DS/XBLA versions, but I have so many free games on the iPad that I'm baulking at paying the price right now.

Did anyone notice Imperium Galactica 2 is out on iPad?

I only have an iPhone so I can't test it out. Don't know how good of a port it is.

My iPad 2 16GB is finally starting to get full. Oh noes. Still wouldn't pay $100 more for the extra space. I'm just deleting games once I'm pretty sure I'm done with them and won't be playing them again.

I have it, and it plays pretty much like the PC version (sans multiplayer). The only negative I have is that the in-game videos are low-rez and highly compressed.

What blows my mind is that the only (legal) digital downloadable version of the game is on the iPad.

nevaaar!

it is universal, it is async, and it is awesome. no other async or board game even comes close

Any feedback on Food Fight? I'm looking for an asynch game my girlfriend and I can play. I'm not sure if Food Fight falls into that category or not. We've been playing Words With Friends and it's starting to get stale.

I bought the new Ipad on Thursday and i already downloaded 50 apps or something. At this rate my 16 GB will be full in no time :(

Thanks for the tip on IB. I just bought it. I want to see what the fuss is all about.

One of my most played games atm. is diamonddash. Damn addicting game.

This is why I switched to 64GB at the last minute and don't regret it. That said, it's definitely doable to have 16 imo as long as you're disciplined about deleting games you don't play, but I've always been spoiled on memory with my 64 GB Touch since it came out.

That said, looking forward to the day when these games all automatically have cloud saves so you can delete and then just jump right back in whenever you feel like it. Would make deleting much easier.

All other models were sold out. I only found this model. But you know, i am putting all my apps on itunes, so i can rotate between them without losing anything. I think it´s the most ideal way atm. But yeah cloud saves would be much better. I have 5 GB of Icloud storage.

Great art, loads of content with campaign, well implemented online play.....

.....but the game is pretty fuckin boring, haha.

Damnit, the art is what really caught my eye. Too bad there's not a free version.

Yeah, me too. I don't feel bad about my purchase, there is enough there to keep me playing for a little while. I was just hoping for something strategic like ascension, but instead I got ( as bigwinnerx said) 'war'. It's super basic strategy.

I need them to mix ascension and food fight, ones a good game with horrendous art, and the other has amazing art, but is a shit game, haha.

Edit:

Yeah same here it even looks nice on the new iPad. Someone put some good mechanics on that art. :p

It's based off a board game though isn't it? Pretty unlikely it will get updated gameplay :(

I might get it for myself whenever it's on sale. But even the super basic strategy, that would probably be more than my girlfriend would want to deal with it.

Damn there are so many good board games on the iPad. I hate that finding anything on the iTunes store is so hard. The GAF thread helps, but i can't spend my time checking everything out, and a lot of the games i like a lot never show up in the

I always hated the way iTunes handles 'app/movie/music placement'. I wish they would at least allow people to create their 'mixes', like on GoG on even on the music store.

Someone could create a 'good board games list'. Or 'X4 games' list. Or 'actual adventure games which are not big-fish-find-items-a-thon' list.

Is operation eradicate any good? Do you guys have a rec for a reiner knizia game? I have played a lot of Ra, which I like, curious to try something new on the iPad before actually buying the board game.

So Astro, can you sell me on Tigris and Euphrates? What other board game/video game is it similar too??

I figure its only a matter of time till I buy it anyway, but I wanna know what im getting into, haha.

edit2/3/4: added a few I forgot about.

My board game (and board game like) list so far:

- Carassonne: amazing, buy it.
- Ascension: amazing, buy it.
- Ticket to Ride: I just have the pocket version, because its the async one, its really good, not perfect online stuff, but it works.
- Caylus: A little weird, and pretty new to me, but it seems like a really awesome strategy game.
- Operation Eradicate: I havent played Pandemic, but from what I hear this is pretty close. It has some UI issues, but seems pretty serviceable.
- Small World: Another one thats pretty new to me, risk-like seems pretty cool so far.
- Ghost Stories: Not the greatest looking game, but certainly the fucking hardest. Ive played about 10 games solo (well 4 player, but im all 4 players) and lost every single one. haha. really cool game though.
- Titan HD: Enjoying this game a lot, little pockets of turn based strategy battles inside of a 'movin around a board' game.
- Samurai: Some really bland art, but the gameplay makes up for it. Super simple to play, but lots too it.
- Food Fight: Gorgeous to look at, boring to play, avoid this one imo.
- Neuroshima Hex: Fantastic game, loads of fun. I cant wait till they add online async to this.
- Hero Academy: (this counts right?) Amazing game, super simple and quick. but has some good strategy. Seems kinda unbalanced though, haha. Hopefully Summoner Wars hits soon.
- Dominion: Pretty subpar app, but its free, and it works. Oh and its fucking Dominion which is amazing. (Just make sure its the deck building game, and not the risk game, haha)
- Assassins Creed Recollection: Surprisingly good, a little different than most games, and with the strict time limit built into the game it kinda doesnt fit with the rest of these, but its enjoyable none the less.

Then there is stuff im lookin into, but havent bought:

- Puerto Rico: I love the board game, but a few buddies havent been impressed with the iOS version
- Forbidden Island: Seems a lot like Operation Eradication/Ghost Stories/Pandemic but maybe a little easier to play/win.
- Elder Signs Omens: I know very little about this, ask Astro :P it looks awesome though. great art.

and of course there is Catan, I havent bought that yet, I have the iPod Touch/iPhone version, it was good, but no Async online, so it didnt get much play.

Anyone have Starbase Orion? It's kind of like Master of Orion 2, and has async over game center. I've only played a few games against AI, but would be interested in getting a game going.

Ive got it, maybe I was just horrible at it, but it seemed like it took FOREVER ...seriously for fucking --ever-- to get anywhere in it. suuuuuper slow paced game. Pretty sure I had a game vs CPU going that was well into like 400 turns and nothing had really happened, haha.

Me and Pylon have played quite a few games. It's pretty fast paced once you know sorta what you're doing. My GC is Tunesmith, feel free to invite.

I just found that space ward Ho! is on iPad. I loved the game, though i don't remember if it was actually a good game or me liking it because that's all there was on my mac :)

Might give it a shot.

Rayspencer, thanks *a lot* for the list. Very much appreciated. I just wish there was a way to share this / highlight this directly on the store.

I am still surprised by how few actual adventure games there are on iPad. Such a perfect platform for those.

Also, if you like Ascension, for some odd reason there is a free version of Dominion for iPad. It's not great looking, but it's functional.

Forgot about Dominion, I love the real game, but didnt like the app much, it works though. Hopefully the real one comes out soon. Ascension is actually kind of a stupid game, there is way too much luck involved. I much prefer dominion, but better app with async means I play Ascension all day instead!

Do you mean point and click adventure? There is a decent amount of them that are awesome.

- Back to the Future
- Secret of Monkey Island 1 and 2
- Tales of Monkey Island
- Broken Sword Directors cut and Broken Sword Smoking Mirror
- Machinarium
- Ghost Trick (kinda counts :P)
- Sword and Sworcery ..kinda.

All so awesome.

I have Carc and TtR, but I was curious if someone could tell me some other must have board or card games. Preferably ones that can be played multiplayer online. Thanks in advance.

Ascension is the only other game thats close to being as good as Carc. I would also check out Hero Academy, its pretty fun too.

We have the agreement on the MAMC soundtrack and merchandise sorted with Adult Swim. Just waiting on signatures and it will go up.

There is an update of MAMC itself in the works which is adding a tonne more content, and a new mode.

I assume Sidhe's still very split on both console games and iPhone development? It's been Driving Games and Rugby titles for Sidhe, but PikPok seems to be having more fun at the moment :)

We have continued to move away from console retail work for hire, and there are now only about a dozen people in the studio working on that "side" of the business. Everybody else is focused on digital distribution which for the most part is mobile (PSN and XBLA are off the cards for now given the ROI is low at this end of the cycle).

Definitely a great atmosphere in the studio at the moment as we are working on more original titles than ever before and doing some of our best work, even if it is "big games in small packages" for the most part.

We have a bunch of stuff in the pipe including more sports titles, multiple titles with Adult Swim, a title based on an animated movie property, and a couple delving into genres we have never touched before. More info (and codes) for those should start dropping soon.

Have a W.E.L.D.E.R. code for the first to quote me, courtesy of the black French roast and half a glazed doughnut I had for brunch today. "Mm, gastrointestinal distress." TM

Do you by any chance have the Neuroshima Hex expansions? I love the game and was thinking about them to mix it up a bit, but I haven't found any decent reviews around.

Thanks for the recommendations, in any case. I'm probably buying Carcassonne when the iPad retina update is out, which is apparently soon, and I've heard a lot of good things about Ascension.

For anyone who likes Ghost Stories, Necronomicon Redux seems like a fairly similar game and is also available on IPhone, it's pretty entertaining! :)

I wish Carc. had a lite version. Async games don't really last too long for me (lol) and I feel like I'll waste $10 if I give it a shot
