So Swordigo is surprisingly good fun! It doesn't look like much, it has simple mechanics but damned if I don't get sucked into it every time I play. They've absolutely nailed the controls and jumping physics which I think is a large part of it. Great little game.

Hmm, I'll check this out... Scotland Yard iOS? Yes! I was a big fan of this game as a kid. I hope that post is accurate.

Yeah, I saw a post from the publisher announcing this yesterday (on the TA forums, ironically).

They didn't mention an official date . . . but someone on BGG said it was already submitted, and if so could be out as early as this week.

Scotland Yard for iOS
Features:
✔ Completely new setting in London by night
✔ 3- 6 Players
✔ Razor-sharp HD graphics (with iPad 3 Retina support!)
✔Single player mode
✔ Multiplayer mode with Voice Chat: Local, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and online/Game Center
✔ Universal app (Game Center Multiplayer with iPad & iPhone devices)
✔ Interactive, user-friendly Tutorial
✔ Easy to understand instructions for both beginners and experts
✔ No need to assemble or put away!
✔ Endless fun with family and friends!

It's a nice site but it's hardly a replacement for TA. It's focussed solely on strategy games (as the name implies) so you'll miss the entirety of the rest of the iOS library.

It's perfect for AstroLad though!

I still use TA and think their new app is great, don't mind them at all. I just don't like their writing. I'v been trying to find another mobile gaming site to keep my eyes on other than Slide to Play.

Ooooh I LOVED the boardgame, it's a lot of fun with 4p at least. Not sure how much fun it'll be on iOS though, since it relies on HEAVY cooperation of the detectives (think Operation: Eradicate/Pandemic). If there's text chat it'll be good, if not, we'll see.

I agree, I finished it today and I think I will go back and get the rest of the chests I missed, at 90% at the moment. It's a fun game but can be really frustrating if you arent leveled up an have the best equipment at the end.

I tried out MotoHeroz, since it's currently free, but I can't get into it... Mainly because I hate the upgrade system. It's just too annoying that you can do a perfect run on a track, but only get one star because you haven't earned enough coins to upgrade your car enough to get a good time. Deleting.

For those that missed it the last time, freemyapps has a $10 iTunes gift card up in their "Gifts" section for 3000 points. They went pretty fast last time though, so you may want to hurry if you were interested.

Had the same experience. A shame, because there is some quality art and a unified theme in the game.

I was thinking about the top iOS game discussion that took place a few pages back, and I thought of a cool system we can use (maybe it sucks bad?)

Instead of voting on a top 10 or 20 list, we should ask the question to the voter: you can only fit 10 games on your device right now which games are those? I think it would give a mix of genres and old and new titles. It's not a best ever list, we did that already, but instead if you were forced to only have 10 games on your device, I assume the person would want a mix of stuff...match 3's, RPGs, adventure, endless runner, game of the moment, some classics and so on.

This is what I like to see, not sure if anyone feels the same, but to me I would like to see what people want to play instead of what they feel is just the best. I know that sounds stupid lol

I don't think you can guarantee every person wanting a mix of genres on their device. I know if you asked me to do this right now, you'd just get 10 music games.

Also, I'd always recommend having a small but fun game like Angry Birds on a device if you could only have 10 titles. But if I were to list the 10 BEST games, there'd be way different, more niche-specific games that are brilliant for what they are, even without mass-appeal.

Gone, but I guess it's good to know that they're still putting them out there.

I rarely get addicted to iOS stuff, but Montowers is very fun. I'm at the 3rd tower right now, and I have collected a lot of cool monsters. Good game to play it in short busts, and the IAP so far is not required at all.
Thanks for recommending, it's good.

Having played both extensively, I think Motoheroz poops all over Bike Baron, especially in the handling stakes.

Really, the progression in MH is not too dissimilar from Trials. In Trials you can't gold-star the first track with the first bike, you need to come back when you've unlocked the later bikes. It's a similar gated progression system in MH, just linked to credits rather than strict progression.

I've drifted back into 'Eden - World Builder'. I can't believe the level of post-release support this title has had. It's almost a whole new title compared to the version I bought on day 1. I've tried Minecraft PE and Junk Jack but neither of them is as easy to use and chilled out as Eden. Some great levels out there to download too.

Anyone looking for a world-building game would do well to check out 'Eden'.

What in the hell is it? From what I can see, it looks like Minecraft (which I've never played) but a little more playful? I'm hoping it's offline only, because the idea of all that world-building stuff really only appeals to me if I can just faff around doing nothing.

Just don't tell me it's as pointless and brain-numbing as Power of Coin. True to my word, I deleted it after I hit level 500 (well, level 550) and haven't missed it since. Just the hours I wasted on it in the first place.

It's just a world-builder. No crafting, just choose blocks, place blocks, create cocks. Offline only.

I haven't played PoC since that conversation. I think I purged my desire by confessing my sins.

Anyone else playing The Sandbox? it's free and so far charming as all hell.

It's like a sort of building / god game but built from the ground up for iPhone. It's not universal yet but the app is small enough that they can add it in rather than release a HD version.

I'd like something close to REZ or Child of Eden on iOS.
Too bad Q Entertainment doesn't give a shit about the platform... where's my Meteos (don't care about Lumines, sorry)? :[

Got some promo codes for Adventure Bar Story (port of the PSP JRPG/management sim) courtesy of Panama Chief...
3 codes right here. US iTunes account only. Press quote to see them : all gone

panama chief's codes from beyond the grave are hilarious. I'm sure there are a few people quietly seething.

I've never heard of Scotland Yard but it seems to have all the hallmarks of a great port. Even has voice chat? I'll have to give it a whirl.

Like I said before, the boardgame is awesome, but relies heavily on coordination between the detectives and gets a lot of its appeal from there. If the port is good and includes good chat (e.g. Chat between all players/detective only), then I can see this being a great addition to our boardgame list and to iOS in general

Supposedly the iOS port has multiplayer with voice chat, which might be a first for iOS.

I just read the review of Gratuitous Space Battles on TA. This looks exactly like what I was looking for when I asked if there were any Carnage Heart clones on the app store.

Gratuitous Space Battles would appear to be a fairly well know PC title.

Text chat > voice chat for async gameplay, i hope it has that too.

Also, because it's a game of detectives vs murderer, there NEEDS to be separated & general chat, so you can have both secret planning within your group and general chat.

Why would people be angry? I think sladeums is doing a great job of giving stuff away without being disruptive.
Thank you. I am making a concentrated effort to do so in as subdued a manner as possible.
I even spaced out the last couple batches I posted, despite having them all in hand yesterday.
So I have attempted to make concessions to those who object while still 'keeping it in the family', so to speak.

But I should give a heads up, there's a new Pik Pok / Adult Swim game coming out tonight - Extinction Squad, so beware of imminent jpgs!

I'd check around first and make sure it's working ok now.
I know it had a lot of playability issues at launch, was pulled from the App Store for a good deal of time, and only recently returned with an update.
Not sure what state it is in now ... but it has had a troubled start, FYI.

solid game on iOS. I was big fan before it came out. The devs made some very curious choices in the port, though. for one, it's a very small (filesize) ipad only game. When you open it, you can tell that the music is very compressed, and that the visual fidelity is a little lacking. Things look a little muddy on iPad 3 when a game of this sort should be a showcase game visually for the device. It's 9.99 and totally worth it, sure, but the game that I hoped for, ie, a really rezzed up version of the mac/PC game, isn't here. the core of the game, however, is intact. i'm just wondering why they chose not to bolster the filesize with higher quality samples and HD gfx considering the price...

There's a Meteos clone called Mini Meteors. You might want to try that.
