Damn, Temple Run got a Retina update, I'll have to check this when I get home.

lol at the changelog: "minor bug fixes".

I wish more of their games got universal + game center support. I know a lot of people don't care for achievements but they add nice milestones that make sense in this kind of games.
Is dungeon village retina ready? Somehow I doubt it but I woul pick it up if it is.

Just because it's all retro graphics doesn't mean it doesn't have to be retina.

Looks cool, JA9LTPRTF3FN redeemed. Cheers!

Since it's Kairosoft we're talking about I'm guessing the universal update and iPad res is just the x2 mode of the iPhone version but without borders.

My game Kid Vector is out now on the App Store!
It's a retro platformer filled with glorious vector graphics.

App Store Link - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kid-vector/id458927955?ls=1&mt=8

I've also put 3 promo codes in this post, quote to reveal!

A platformer? With total character control? Please take my money, sir.

Bought Fieldrunners 2 which is very polished with lots of nice touches in the animations and having a map like in Kingdom Rush, makes for a better sense and understanding of progression. It might be a tad unbalanced because you get gold that can buy single use* items, which makes it harder for a designer to hit an "exact" balance, since he doesn't know whether the player has bought an item or not. That might lead to a grind for items later on as the game is quite difficult, but it's also fun and earns goodwill and sympathy by being of a decent size and not having in-app purchases.

Maybe not in same league as Sentinel 3 or Kingdom Rush, it's still something fans of the genre should check out.

*I'm assuming they're single use and I always save stuff like that until a game becomes impossible, so I haven't actually used one :)

but...but... I don't want to delete games, WHAT IF I WANT TO PLAY THEM AGAIN. :( But yeah, I deleted IB1 and will have to delete some others that I've finished, but the problem is that my backlog is so big that I have hardly any finished games... hrng.

This makes no sense. Here's some helpful advice - if you backlog is so big that you never finish any games, stop buy games for a little while. Then, pick a game and play it. If you like it, finish it. If you don't, delete it.

It's odd, I think the bigger the backlog, the less likely you are to play anything at all. Instead, downsize a little and actually enjoy the games. I was once like you, I feel your pain :D

That would make sense.

The company really needs to improve their horrendous presentation.

This is excellent news. Instabuy!

EDIT: just played a couple of levels - great controls, nice feel, great music. I will certainly be playing more. It's very reminiscent of Mos Speedrun.

Thanks! Mos Speedrun is one of my favorite iOS games.

Im liking it too. Pause menu buttons not retina though? Or maybe my eyes are just bad

Your eyes aren't bad, they aren't retina on the iPad.

This is the stance I've taken, being newly acquainted with the iOS platform. I got a good run out of Infinity Blade, and now I'm playing the hell out of Jurassic Park and Mirror's Edge.

Gameloft are releasing some kind of Pokémon world building freemium thing tonight. I know it's going to be the worst game ever with 14 different premium currencies and 98 in-app purchases before you're allowed your first monster, but still, I'm interested.

EDIT: Freemium, Matt, you idiot.

You never said the name and is it out I did a search but couldn't find anything I thought would be it.

I was being extremely sarcastic, sorry :p I know I SHOULD delete and re-download, but... I... just can't part with them. It's a bad habit.

Delete your music and upload it all to google play or whatever their cloud service is and get an app that plays google play on the iPad, that's what I did haha

Should free up about 15 gigs for you so you can download more games you'll never play like me lol

I worked on this game, Cave Rescue. out today (free).

it's a "Poke-inspired Roguelike Jr."

thanks to anyone out there for giving it a shot!

soo... mini-review:

this game is STRANGE but fun. there are these creatures around the game world, when you touch them, they start following you. i couldn't figure out what to do, then i clicked the "?" in the top and it showed the green building, so i went there. if you walk up to one of the curtains in the green building (the game sometimes says it's a hospital, sometimes it's a bank...), it will 'save' that character in there permanently, and then you can view that character's profile, including 2 moves and BLOOD TYPE rofl

there's also mini-games to play, match3 with the characters, arkanoid clone, etc. you get some coins for playing the games, and with the coins you can rescue more of the characters from a store in the town.

kind of reminds me of earthbound in some ways

Total War Battles is on sale for $1.99 (normally $6.99, IIRC). I picked it up after trying the demo version, and it's intriguing. It's very reminiscent of Samurai Bloodshow, just with more resource management and the rock-paper-scissors of different types of units, and there's some Tetrising involved in strategic placement of your base buildings. It does have IAP to buy "EXP" to increase some unit powers, but there are also extra side missions in the campaign that give you EXP too.

I also bought Lostwinds 2, on sale for 99 cents. Haven't even played the first one yet. :/

I loved Total War Battles. Worked my way through the whole game on 4S when it was version 1.0. Then the update came with Skirmish battles. Now just today there's a 1.3 update that brings graphical updates and more challenges.

9/10 from me.

All of them. But don't play them for heaven's sake! This is GAF dude... :)

I think the next game I'm looking forward to is Baldur's Gate, can't wait for that bad boy! I might jump into Squids 2 soon as well, I just finished up the first one last night (three stars all the way bitches!). Squids is really incredible, I feel like it's one of the first of a new breed of games that mix a 'real' game with the traditional phone-style games and succeeds.

Can you actually do much in it? my little bro loves that kind of stuff messing with diggers and tractors, give us some feedback :D
Only played 5 mins so far. Brief impressions are that it looks OK, the controls work, there's a shite-rock soundtrack (I consider this a bonus), the day / night cycle is cool (the headlights work on my tractor!) and that's about it. If your little bro just wants to potter around doing a bit of farming, I reckon this'll do fine. I'm a cack reviewer so you might want to read a real review.

I think there's a freeplay mode which will be nice for just tossing about in farm machinery.

Sometimes, it feels like iOS is helping me recreate a portable version of my Steam backlog.

To me, iOS is the spirit of Steam, the C64 and the Amiga all rolled into one. Fucking love it.

But they're just all so cheap :(

Trust me, I know exactly what I SHOULD be doing, but I'm weak. Exact same thing happens every steam sale -sigh-

I just end up going back to my multiplayer boardgames (Carc, nightfall, Ascension, Summoner Wars, Neuroshima Hex) and hardly ever play the other games :p

Also, there'a actual science behind that backlog thing, it's called "The paralysis of choice" :p

I tend to "purchase" free apps, then delete them before they've even finished downloading. 771 apps to date and I've only owned an iOS device since March. I just figure if they're free and they look interesting, I should grab them now in case they go up in price. Maybe I'll play it one day, maybe I won't, but I've got it if I want it.

Hell yeah. I could write a book about Option Paralysis but I wouldn't know where to start...

It's very disappointing to see that Critter Crunch is no longer on the app store. I loved it on PS3 and it would be awesome to have it on my phone. Apparently the publisher went under and the rights are lost in limbo, or something like that. Dang.

I may regret purchasing so many apps, all 771 have disappeared from the purchased section of iTunes on my iPad. I'm wondering if I've hit a bug related to the number of purchases. Has anyone come close to having as many apps?

I should add that these aren't installed, merely purchased and linked to my account.

Update: Looks like it's happening to other folks too, so probably isn't associated with my app purchasing addiction.
