works for Gamestop (lol)
Buying it now...I'll check back in soon.

edit: the controls fucking suck on my The New iPad. let's see if it's better on my iPhone...

See, the problem is it doesn't have a d-pad but it does have A and B buttons. So you have to touch the top of the screen to walk around in town, then reach back down to tap A to talk to people. Plus, it doesn't really seem to have many (if any) RPG elements; it's pretty much a middling Arkanoid game with RPG-stylings so far. I can't say this is the best 3 bucks I've ever spent.

Yeah, it's not really RPG. But how does the controls feel in the Arkanoid sections? Can you freely drag the paddle anywhere you want? The PSN/XBLIG versions suck cause they're limited by the speed you can move the paddle

best version as I predicted. there's an area below the playing field (ala cave shmups) where you slide your finger and it's 1:1. so much more accuracy than a controller.

my only gripe is that there's no portrait mode. seriously wtf. and yea, town navigation is crap.

wow. just wow. Looks amazing.

And Firemint fused with... uh... I forgot whom, but it was a developer that used to work with EA, so they're now a bigger studio and that's most likely why the EA logo is there. I don't think EA has strong control (if any) on it though, so I wouldn't be too scared. Firemint's got this.

Firemint is a wholly owned subsidiary of EA: http://www.tuaw.com/2011/05/03/ea-buys-firemint-makers-of-flight-control-and-real-racing/

They merged them with their other wholly owned Australian studio Iron Monkeys: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=483716

Happy Street is a really sure game with lots of charm. Its the typical stock and wait type of game, but it has a charm akin to animal crossing. I recommend it, not that my opinion carries weight.

Man, freemium games have REALLY been bringing the heat lately.

Dead Trigger, Meganoid, and Happy Street are ALL really great games. I have never been into the type of game that Happy Street is before, but it makes it so straightforward and fun that it is really appealing.

I'm really surprised that Meganoid hasn't gotten more buzz here, maybe once I put more time in I'll find it's a one-trick pony or something.

I could definitely see myself throwing some money at Dead Trigger and maybe Meganoid.

The thing I don't get about Freemium games is that if I really like to play a free game enough that I'd want to throw money at it, why the Hell would I essentially want to buy a cheat that allows me to need to play it less?

Take Temple Run, for instance. The fun, for me, wasn't becoming the biggest and baddest Temple Runner by paying to completely level up all the power-ups. The fun was increasing my skill to win coins as a reward to level up my abilities so that I could get an even better score next run.

I dearly loved Temple Run. My kids dearly love Temple Run. All tossing money at it would do is give us less opportunities for fun with it.

But, hey. If these companies weren't making more money this way than they surely wouldn't be releasing free games. Someone somewhere is paying for this stuff, and I wholeheartedly thank those people.

Now, iAP character classes like in 100 Rogues or to remove ads, those things I can see. I'd like a way to pay for freemium games I really enjoy without essentially getting a reward that ruins the gameplay. If I could have bought something like different themes for Temple Run I'd be in the poor house now.

Has anyone else ever loved a Freemium game so much that they dare not buy any of the offered iAP for fear of being done with it sooner?

Happy Street is awesome. There's a fair bit too it like crafting and organising your town layout to maximise profits, because some shops get bonuses if they're near other stuff, etc. There's also a decent stream of premium currency so there's no real need to IAP.

It's the best, most balanced one of these since Tiny Tower.

Agent Dash is pretty dope

Took forever to load for me and is a pretty simple Temple Run clone, really. I deleted it when it expected me to do two things at once.

I don't think anything's even come close to how good Temple Run is, seems silly to keep stuff like this around when I could just play more Temple Run. I opened it yesterday to find there's like a ton of new objectives to do.

The only IAP I can agree with is removal of adds and/or cosmetic items a la Team Fortress 2.

Buying +100 damage weapon or +100 seconds in a puzzle game can go fuck itself.

Swordigo went from incredibly fun to incredibly frustrating quite quickly. Really nasty difficulty spikes, and I'm at the section now where there are around 10 paths, all of which take ages to traverse, and all seem to throw you back to the start... ;_;

Check out the free GnarBike Trials

Graphics are bad, but damn the game is fun and there are thousands of levels because players can create their own.

I think there's also a paid version with pro mode (whatever that is) and without ads for 99 cents.

The ads are not present during actual gameplay so that's no biggie anyway.

Real Racing 3 trailer. I said wow.

Hopefully they will smooth out the framerate...Real Racing is a great game but it's never really had a consistent framerate, which is incredibly annoying in racing games.

Whoever buys this, please give us some feedback! Can't wait to hear about how it is :)
There's nothing in the description that explains how the game plays. This is one of my biggest irks with the store, I usually have to check out YT vids just to understand what it is. :(

One thing that pisses me off about updates, is I can have almost 2GB available and it won't let me update some apps.

For example, I have 1.7 on my iPad, but I can't grab the Infinity Blade update.

On my iPhone 4, I have 1.2 open and I can't download Orc Venegence update. What gives?

Yeah, generally you need 2x the size it comes up with on the app store. Sometimes it's even more (Galaxy on Fire 2 HD is ~600mb on the 'store, but blows up to 1.2gb after install). Frustrates the shit out of me, too.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
RR3 looks nice, I hope they haven't ruined the performance on iPad2 though, or the game itself with a bigger focus on IAP based progression like many games recently go for. I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for it if it's actually meatier than 2, but not if they make it hard to play without IAPs, which is something RR2 didn't try to force on you, and I never needed to use.

Tried that Megatroid game for a little while a few nights ago and was really unimpressed.
Bland, boring combat; limited enemy types; big framerate drops; low res text/backgrounds on the menus...meh
ymmv
Maybe I didn't give it enough time ... but alas, it's deleted now.

whats the verdict on Dungeon Village. Didn't even know about this till today.
A lite version came out last night.
Give it a shot.

Yeah, I had to update magic from my PC yesterday because I only had 1.8 free and didn't want to delete the game from my iPad for fear of losing my progress.

What´s the best graphically capable game on the Ipad? Is it Infinity Sword 2? I have seen a video about an app that has an fighter jet with great graphics. I did not catch the name.

Turf Geography Club looks interesting, though I have never played any of the 'check in' type games before.

I'm enjoying this so far. I never got into FourSquare, but Turf has just the right amount of charisma for me. I'm hoping people start adopting it because there's not really been any competition - I own work, my apartment complex, and every bar I went to last night, and I was the first to take over each of them. I will say that there seem to be some back-end issues - from time to time, the game will 'forget' what trophies I've won, or how many crystals and gold I have stashed away. They always reappear later, but it's definitely been a source of anxiety.

It's not only that, microtransaction bait games just tend to have dull grindy mechanics to push players to the store.

What I really, really hate are microtransaction bait games with entry fee. I mean you designed a game just to sell virtual items, why the fuck do you also feel the need to put a tag on the game itself?

This is actually a really good idea. So DL the app in iTunes and then drag it onto my device?
I launched the DL yesterday and figured I'd do the update today. It seemed kind of natural to me I thought the app would be updated during that sync when you plug your ipad on but now that I think about it, I'm not even sure it will do that. I'll keep you informed!

edit: worked flawlessly.

This game is beautiful on the retina iPad.

I have no interest in it though.

Yeah, it's more like dragon vale or tiny monsters with some battling aspects, I'd really just like anything well made that is like Pokemon or dragon quest monsters where you don't just buy new monsters but have to find them and is deeper than these kinds of games

Happy street is really good though, I'm liking it so far

Been playing Another World which is great once you get used to the touch controls. Does anyone what the hardcore mode means.

Never heard Infinity Sword 2.

Are you mean infinity blade?

Was gonna say, wtf is Infinity Sword 2... I hope there's no ripoff app with that name and he didn't accidentally buy that one... Again, it's Infinity Blade 2.

Also extremely impressive is Real Racing 2, despite coming out 2 years ago.

Anyone knows of some good Visual Novels on iPhone? It's been a while since I played one of those. (Already played Phoenix Wright).

The worst part is that if you hit "update all", it demands 2x the space of all the updates at once. It's not smart enough to do one at a time in that case. I sit around 3GB free and a few 500MB updates mean I can't hit update all but have to update one at a time, which is really annoying.

Infinity Sword 2?

Wizorb controls are shite, what were they thinking?

for town, yes. but for the paddle I personally think it's way more accurate than the console version due to the paddle being sensitive to how much you slide your finger.

Wait, Phoenix Wright is on iOS?

I've wanted to play the series forever but I only owned a DS for a short period of time. Any issues with the port I should know of? If not I'm buying it tonight.

I'm haven't started it yet, but Bar Oasis is supposed to be a good visual novel type game on iOS.
