The trailer for my next game just made it to Indiegames.com somehow, so I guess it's time to start pimping the game a bit here as well.

trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMDfq8PLfLM

I've been talking about this game for a while in the indie development thread. The game is a pretty straight forward 2.5D megaman clone, set in the old west. I first started this project years ago (2008 I think) and my goal was to make something very traditional without any gameplay gimmicks and just focus on the craftmanship. Obviously I haven't worked on it full time since then though; after many years of hiatus I picked up the production a while after I released Helium Boy late last year.

The game is nearly done and will hopefully be out in about one month and will cost 1.99$. Obviously touch screen controls aren't ideal for this type of game but it works decently at least. I'll release a pc version as well so it can be experienced with buttons, and the android version will of course support xperia play.

This looks incredible so far - and the text in the trailer is pretty funny! Keeping an eye on this one.

You walked into an iOS gaming thread and immediately started trolling. That sorta shit will get you banned so fast it'll make your head spin if an admin notices it.
I said one particular game is not worth 5 bucks. How the hell is that trolling?

Seriously, do people even use the word "trolling" without even knowing the definition of it now days?

I think the "app game" comment would be their problem, not the game isnt worth $5 comment.

So now The Simpsons won't load past the "tap to continue" screen.. it just loops back to the screen. I'm logged in, fuck this.

:edit: rebooted and.. games restarts from the beginning. Lovely. Probably because I signed into Origin AFTER starting my first game.. lame.

:edit x2: now the game just got to the "other Springfield" and restarted the WHOLE game when it was going back to my Springfield.

I think I'm done with this crap. I love the Simpsons, but this is a broken turd. This is the 3rd time it's rebooted to the tutorial.

Nope.

Sry, but that's overpriced for a freakin app game.
App games will always be app games.
Wow, people really need to chill the fuck down. I was just voicing my opinion. Don't go all rage on me now.
I doubt anyone here was raging over your posts, honestly.

Anyway, just thought I'd drop in and say Ziggurat's awesome as hell.

For those who care, the League of Evil 2 update just hit the store.

Edit: Seems pretty good. Controls are better, but I think they went overboard with adjusting the 3-star times; it's too easy now. Oh well.

Fairway Solitaire is more fun than a Klondike or golf based game has any right to be, but it helps it's really more puzzle and smart playing rather than dumb luck.

there's plenty of times i'll have nothing but two different numbers to play on, and every card in my draw pile is another useless number, or even the same exact one on the field! i seem to have an issue with 8s...

but still, i've been hooked for days since i got it. bought the game after 3 starring the first set if levels.

I lost my save in League of Evil 2. No way am I going back to that shitty game.

Yeah, the iCloud bug was pretty shitty, but the game is still buttery smooth and a load of fun to play. I just wish they had tested their 3-star times a little better. They went from completely impossible in world 3 to yawn-inducingly easy after the update. I still highly recommend it though.

Neuroshima Hex comes to mind, it's pretty great. Not sure if it qualifies for "strategy" though, but I'd definitely say so.

Thanks but not quite what I am after. More after large scale hex battles and this looks more like a smaller board game type?

Enjoying uniwar so far so hopefully it tides me over.

Love this game so much. Payed for the unlock. Stuck on Piper Dunes, the last course on the second page.

I'm sure it's been posted already, but wow, the TouchArcade article about Simogo making BSB is a fantastic read.

Plans for iCade support?

Also, I'll repost this in here so that maybe someone can help me out (iMAME/Cave related):

I was wondering, is there a way to properly set up an autofire button + normal fire rate button (to use lasers) on iMAME's DoDonPachi when played on the iPad with the iCade? I can't seem to be able to set that up and the game as is is kinda nightmarish to play without having a modded iCade with Sanwa buttons... and I suck at modding/soldering/whatever :/

Also, does Donpachi work (I still love the one that started my Pachi addiction, also rebought it together with Sheinryu on JPN PSN) on iMAME? What about Guwange?

I hate that Blissful Death was barred from running on iPad 1 and you have to resort to JB to have it, I'd be ok with a disclaimer about low memory crashes (after all Bug Princess was a disaster at first) but I can see how they want to a avoid stupid 1 star reviews to make the game look bad.

I'm really enjoying Waking Mars. If you're on the fence, I strongly urge you to grab it.

It takes a complicated & complex gameplay mechanic and distills it into one-button controls, but it doesn't feel dumbed down, or watered down. It also assumes the player is smart, which I respect a lot.

BS
thanks for the heads up.

gonna buy some apps now

Just to repeat what has been said, it's NOT that they disappear if you don't use it for 60 days. It's if the point-value doesn't CHANGE for 60 days. Just regularly use their apps and you'll keep increasing your point-count and you WILL keep all the credits. no reason to rush-buy ;)

Any recommendations for games similar to drop 7? It's the only game I've been playing for the past year despite trying tens and tens of different games.

I play drop 7 while listening to podcasts and its simplicity and turn based gameplay allows me to fully concentrate to a podcast while playing. It is
perfect for this purpose but after hundreds of hours I need something new.

Games I've already considered:
Bejeweled - too hectic
Cut the rope - requires reflexes, limited content
Quell - no replay value
Shibuya - too fast, requires too much concentration
Solitaire - a perfect example except I previously owned 2nd gen nano and played like 1000 hours of solitare on it.

Honestly the best option would be a drop 7 clone/variable with some tweaks and changes.

Have you tried DropSum? A bit more complicated than Drop7 but similar :)

I got this from another board:

Access service mode and set '3 C Button Not Use' to '3 C Button Full-Auto.' You'll also have to bind a key to the C button in MAME. To access service mode, hold the key bound to service mode through the copyright jargon as the game is booting. I don't know what the default service mode key is, but it should be there along with all the other game-specific key settings in MAME.

The only problem is, I can't get out of service mode once i'm in... Maybe we have to write the cfg by hand. And you are right, playing DDP without my beloved Sanwa Stick is a serious strain of my finger! ;)
Checklist:
1. Mod the iCade with Sanwas
2. Bug Cave with iCade support!

That Gunman Clive game above looks pretty damn cool.
Looks GREAT. I agree that the text in the trailer is really good. Looking forward to playing!

I'll look into it. Does the iCade support landscape mode though?

HELL YES! Thanks mate, I'll try that asap!
And yes, I was really disappointed with the iCade's clicky/spongey buttons and their response more than with the stick itself which is at least serviceable enough.

Thanks everyone

It does :)

Gunman Clive looks great!

Meanwhile, I'm playing me some Mos Speedrun on my Mac :P

Reflection works quite ok, some games better than others obviously (some frame rate hiccups and the pitfalls of not looking at where you're putting your fingers).

Combined with something like Screenflow this would be pretty boss to record app demos with.

Spent almost the whole night playing Wakin Mars without noticing till my iPhone battery died.
NOW my headache is remembering me what an awesome experience it was.

ATMOSPHERE AND EXPLORATION AT THEIR FINEST.

It's incredible how crappy the game looked in videos and how actually cool it is when playing it (to me, at least).
Thing that strikes me most is the variety of situations you encounter (graphics included)....every 5 minutes you discover a new cool thing/mystery.
BTW, that planet is MASSIVE.

Highly recommended....Sword&Sworcery in space, a bit of The Dig and Alien too.
It's more a 'game' too.

I could trade this kind of scifi experience over a photorealistic Mass Effect any day.

Speaking of Mass Effect, does anyone know when the iOS game is supposed to hit? I mean ME3 comes out Tuesday, you'd think they would have gotten it out before then?

I read somewhere on TA next week...but I do not know if it's confirmed or just a guess.
I even thought it could be a title shown at the iPad 3 presentation...

I still think those kind of controls suck on iOS, but probably it's just me and the game will be a glaring success.
