No.... no, no, no, no, no, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Not again!

Speaking of Tiny Tower, are they done updating it? I've got 8 empty floors that need filling.

Just curious, if I move to a new iPhone, will my 100+ floors move to my new phone or is it going to be buried with my old phone?

I believe if you back up your current phone, then 'restore' your new phone from the backup, everything will be perfectly copied.

So torn on Mass Effect. On the one hand, I love the ME universe and the game does look gorgeous from the shots. But on the other hand, it's made by the Dead Space people, and that game was terrible, GameLoft level boring.so if this is the same shit of corridors and ambushes then it's going to be very boring. Might wait for impressions. People that hated Dead Pace need to say so when they're giving impressions. Because I can't trust the people that liked that game.

It's a shame really, you could do a really excellent text (conversation), and galaxy exploration/resource game in the ME universe that could be something really different and unique. But instead, we'll probably get Shadowgun lite. Ugh.

agreed. bioware breaking my heart with their decisions over past two years. on IOS they didnt have to make the action game. could've catered to underserved rpg-lite audience utilizing the strength of the device, and kept the shooter for consolers, thus serving two masters. i enjoyed Dead space well enough, but i dont want another "big budget" style 3ps on my touch device. new bioware makes no sense to me...

Nimblebits next game

looks a lot like Tiny Tower

They said it's going to try to be more gamey. I assume that means more decision making required instead of being addicted to endlessly hitting buttons because it's the only thing to do.

I so fucking pumped! Aerobiz and Aerobiz Supersonic were two of my favorite games as a kid.. really shocked that ports have never been released. Not entirely surprised the franchise was dropped.. but always wanted to play it again and have been disappointed for so many years that I couldn't. I'd be happy as a pig in shit if this is even 1/10th as good a game and I'm sure it will be since NB rock.

Not having an iPad currently is taking me out of the App Store scene. Ugh. Can't wait to jump back in.

Still no mention of Ghost Recon Shadow Wars?

Is Edo Town an Venture Town just pretty much the same game?

Cause Edo Town feels a hell of a lot like it is.

Yep, Venture Towns came out a bit after and was essentially a westernized version of the same game. Haven't played Oh! Edo Towns yet but I did buy it when it dropped to 99c recently since it was the only Kairosoft title I hadn't bought yet.

I'm really enjoyed Mass Effect Infiltrator. I've never played the Dead Space game, or any other third-person shooter despite having Shadowgun (and not getting around to playing it). The controls work so well. I wasn't expecting them to feel this good.

Thoughts on Mysterious Castle? Party-based roguelike appeals to me. How's the interface on an iPhone? How's the general game design?

Honestly, I am the least likely guy to defend this sort of thing, especially with it coming out of the bowels of EA's miserable mobile division, but I would really like the Simpsons, Tapped Out to get fixed, re-released and supported. Don't get me wrong. The performance is, currently, pathetic. Server issues are rife, and I'm lucky to get 5 minutes out of it between connection errors. Premium currency is ridiculously hard to obtain, and yes, some of the coolest items (Scorpio's Lair, fuck yeah) are ridiculously expensive.

But there is a potential winner here. The Simpsons universe is diverse and massive enough to allow for all sorts of content. Already, the fan service is admirable with references to classic episodes all over the place. The presentation is also fantastic. Anyone who downloaded it would have seen the excellent opening cutscene, and if you ask me the quality is consistent throughout, with soundbytes and animations ripped straight from the series. I dare anyone not to laugh at poor Milhouse flying his kite.

As a tap tap freemium game, it's pretty much standard. But the prices on "normal" units like the various houses are reasonable and allow for decent progress, and missions are varied enough for you to control exactly how often you return to the game on a daily basis. There are a couple of twists too, like nicking the Lemon Tree from other towns and daily play bonuses.

The audience is definitely there for something like this, and it would take/has taken a name like the Simpsons to justify this sort of game even being on my iPad. Sort out the premium prices, make IAP prices reasonable, tighten up performance (alot) and keep the content coming, and I could see myself playing this for ages. It's funny. Makes too much sense, I suppose. EA will probably just let it rot.

thank you sir!!

i really hope so. i set aside a good 1k for this. Vita dwindled it down to about $650. i want a 32gb but i fear we wont get ipad 2 prices.....

lol funny enough, I was one click away from ordering a vita until I saw the apple event announcement a week back.

Only thing that is selling me on vita right now is the sexy screen... and ipad 3 will probably have a larger sexy screen...

hmmm...

Fear not, rumor mill consensus is that the price points will remain unchanged.

I've been iPadless for 2 days now and I'm hurting. Guess I'll check out some iPhone only games I've overlooked.

2048x1536 is reason enough. Even if there is nothing else different.

But 800 bucks worth to upgrade? That's the question. 4g is meaningless to me, Apple tv is also useless. If the rumors are true, it's almost like it will only be worth upgrading every other iteration. (disappointing if true)

This, for me the existing iPad1\2 screen rez is far to low to justify the cost

No idea how anyone can say even the existing apple TV is useless, we use the hell out of ours...just wish it had Hulu+ support very annoying apple your going to make me buy Roku box :-(

My upgrade from iPad 2 is going to cost less than $200. Just sell your current iPad.

And yeah, the early iPad trend seems to be similar to iPhone: a bigger leap every other generation.

Good to see the pre-announcement disappointment is already setting in on our humble thread.

I'll just go ahead and quote Gruber now:

But if a faster processor, more RAM, a double-the-resolution retina display, a better camera, and maybe even LTE networking make for a “modest” update, then what would it take for the iPad 3 to be deemed an immodest update? A fusion energy source? Teleportation? A camera that sees into the future?

I know this isn't an app thread, but guys help me out. I'm looking for an app which streams music from playlists made by other users. Say I'm at the gym and need a gym playlist. Does such an app exist?

In gaming news, downloading Mass Effect Infiltrator. Got get dat galaxy readiness points.

It's not $800 if you sell your existing iPad :P

Well I'd start with R-DIO or Spotify. Both allow people to share playlists. I'm not sure what kind of infrastructure has sprung up around them to know if the kind of blind discovery you're thinking of is possible.

Will check them out, thanks a bunch.

Quad core, smaller bezel and noticeably lighter would be nice. I know, pipe dreams, but I can hope.
Ipad2 is as light as it gets without changing the size or making the front something other than glass. The inside components don't add much weight.
