So Inotia 4 was just released. It is completely and utterly fucking terrible.

The reason I'm even posting a comment about this fucking shitstain of a game is that it will probably make more money than CrimsonHeart has.

So GAF, support decent action RPGs on the AppStore, buy CrimsonHeart and avoid pieces of shit like Inotia 4 and Zenonia 4.

I was playing Anomaly Warzone Earth last night after the retina update, so pretty. Picked up Samurai Bloodshow, Kingdom Rush, and King Cashing.

actually, Trade Nations is pretty generous with magic beans these days, they made it harder to waste them and you usually get a free one at the beginning of the game from watching those videos.

I'm level 57 in Trade Nations, it started out a bit slow but you really don't need magic beans for anything (I never purchased any, I even wasted a few back before they added confirmation screens) and I got enough free beans to buy a windmill, a few premium items. With the frontier area now you get resources pretty quickly too.

The only time you really need magic beans is to buy the final fort upgrade in the Frontier area, since you really need one of the premium storehouses to hold all the resources required.

It's not the most interesting time management game out there but I guess the fact that I've been playing it since the ipad 2 launch is saying something.

While we're on the subject, WTF is wrong with the scale of the economy in Snoopy's Street Fair? Why the hell are children buying 5 million dollar nacho carts?

What's your name in Trade Nations? When I get back on one of my freemium binges, I'll add you. Totally agree about Street Fair - one of the reasons I stopped playing.

I think so. It's a spin on the tower defense games, as it's a tower offense game. You are the one destroying the set up defenses.

Edit: Oh wow Kingdom Rush has tech tree upgrades and hero units? It's like a little bit of Warcraft 3 is mixed into a tower defense game.

What's so bad about Zenonia 4? I'm playing it right now and I've had lots of fun with it so far. Touch D-pad always sucks though, but I've tried worse.

I got halfway through Zenonia 4 and enjoyed what I played. Only reason I stopped is because I got sidetracked by another gane, haha.

Just picked up Polymer

Such a good little puzzler with great music. The dev said a universal update is in the works too but it already looks great on iPad.

I'm excited some of you will get to play one of the best 'casual' games of 2011 (Kingdom Rush).

Yeah I saw it had been on sale before, so I waited considering I had so many other games to play on my new iPad. Can't wait to try it out.

I think a lot of these apps are going to benefit greatly from their first drop in price since the new iPad came out. A lot of new users to sell to. SpellTower showed that.

to date I've passed because I've never played a tower defense game I liked, nor seen many that look very interesting.

at a buck (and over $100 in my iTunes acct) I'm a little more inclined, given all the praise.

Don't be afraid to use Youtube walkthroughs if you get stuck. Some boards can be tricky for a newcomer to the genre.

iOSGAF I need your help. I'm trying to find some specific types of games for my gf to play. She wants a mixture of things that are like certain games but not (lol):

Farmville - likes this general concept, but not the part where you HAVE to keep things maintained or you lose it. Things happen while you're gone, yet are still waiting for you regardless of how long you've been gone.

Sim City - Any type of Sim game where you act as a "god" in the sense that you can manipulate anything (see also: Pocket God game). Like Farmville, you build things up from scratch, and they can go on without you being there constantly.

Gardens of Time - Likes the hide and seek aspect, as well as how you can have buildings start and be finished when you get back after a few hours. Not enough "sim" in this game though.

Hope that can give you an idea of the type of game. I tried to get her to play Tiny Tower, but she didn't seem into that. iPhone or iPad, doesn't matter.

iOSGAF I need your help.....

my wife plays and keeps going back to games like Virtual Families and Virtual Villagers. I asked her why she keeps going back to these games and her answer is: Because as much as you see me play, i havent "finished" the games. there seems to be tons to do.

As before mentioned, Trade Nations or Tribez. Also might try out Aero Vacation or Sunshine Cruise Lines.

Not an expert at all on the genre, but Snoopy's Street Fair seems to be right down this alley. Seems to be well put together too. Tried it out as a sponsor app on FreeMyApps.

Well, it kinda flips the genre, and I can't really think of another game quite like it. Rather than tower defense, you play as the creeps. It's pretty challenging too. It look great, plays great, definitely a "must-have" iOS game in my opinion.

Anyone know what the better/best Texas hold'em games are? Friends and I are trying to find a good one to play together. They said they use one once in a while but the winning hands are ridiculously good all the time. Looking for something with more realistic odds.

Heads Up: Hold'em is really good I think, but only 1v1 (duh)

WSOP seems decent ...

most all the other poker apps I've tried seem to lean more towards social games than poker sims.

Smash Cops is pretty terrible. Glad I didn't jump on this before it went free.

I thought Smash Cops was pretty good? The controls took some getting used to but the graphics are excellent and the gameplay, though repetitive, was good enough for the $0.99 I paid for it at the time.

Paid £2 or whatever when it came out, think I was high. Didnt enjoy it initially then blasted through every mission, thought it was kinda fun. Definately worth FREE.

Please, the controls are horrible on iPhone due to the screen size. Did you play it on an iPad?

Yeah, also got it when it was a buck. I enjoyed it, and I plan on downloading it again to check out the updates.

I absolutely love the game's controls, and I wish more top-down racers were designed like it. Played it on my phone.

Anyone else like the 'Drawn' games? I played through the Painted Tower recently and enjoyed it quite a bit for a fairly simple game, and I just got the second one since its on sale for 2 bucks (forgot the subtitle though, haha), and im enjoying it as well! though they do seem to hand hold you a little more in the second one, which kinda sucks. but still, its pretty cool.

I don't think the controls are that bad on an ipod touch but I did try both sets and went with the stick controls.

The touch controls were fine though.

Different folks, different strokes I guess. I tried both schemes, even tried it with the stick on the right side but it just doesn't work for me. Touch controls would probably work for me if there was no need to turn 180° ever and stick controls feel really unintuitive without an actual, physical stick. I had no issues playing Death Rally or Reckless Racing 2 but Smash Cops doesn't do it for me at all.

buy CrimsonHeart

Agree.

Also, I know a lot of people loathe TA, but there's a few guys over on TA's board that post in the CrimsonHeart topic...If you leave your IGN and ask for some help/assistance, they're really cool and will send you a nice pile of gold and some crafting items to get you started.

One dude on there (sgcc1, I remember him because he's REALLY knowledgeable about that game) sent me some rare boss drops (the first boss you face) and like 100k gold. Really helpful for starting out with no idea what's going on, haha.

Also.

Everyone needs to buy The Quest Gold. I will continue to reiterate this simply because it's amazing. I'm playing through The Cursed Chess Set expansion right now, and it's not only awesome, but it's hilarious. I can't ever stress how good The Quest is in terms of true gameplay and story-telling. Graphically, there are more impressive games...But gems like this kick graphics in the neck with a royal middle finger pointing high to the sky the entire time.

I can see that being an issue, I found the same thing at first.

At least it was free though I don't know if I would have paid for it.
