I mostly agree. I like Carc, but out of all my favourite board games it's the one I like the less. TTR, Catan & Puerto Rico are just so much more engaging and diverse... Not to mention Twilight Struggle!
As far as digital implementation goes though... Carc's the current king. It's crispy clean! Plus I hate async, so... Yeah.

I'll be happy to do it again, but I'd rather avoid the bitching and toy throwing that accompanied the last one. So to that end, does anyone have any alternative ideas on how the voting should work? I think the 10 votes thing worked last time (on balance at least) but if anyone has any ideas for tweaks to the system I'm all ears.

Does FreeAppDaily just take forever to acknowledge I've downloaded/played the games they list? It's been like 10 minutes since I've played them, and there still aren't check marks over the apps.
They had to redo their app to fit Apple regs, which means they had to pull the offer redemptions out of the app.
You can still use the app to vote and view deals, but actually getting their deals has to be done through the web app ... which, I believe, requires Facebook.

I think my problem is that it never asks to install a profile after logging in through Facebook. I've tried clearing my cookies twice too.
Should just create some sort of external poll with all the possible top games and let people vote. You can also let people add games to the poll so nothing is missed.
It'll make things a lot easier than adding everything up.
Considering Junk Jack for iPad, how is it? Looks pretty damn good. I could see myself messing around with it quite a bit.

I think I bought spell tower @ 0.99? Um, why isn't this a minimum of $5? Its got NO DLC to buy and its fucking excellent.

Yeah ... the style and presentation seem really top notch and it is a cool take on card battle games.
Not so sure how easy it will be to win matches with the base characters yet, tho.
Some people will likely be turned off by the character/costume IAP.
But as the initial download is FREE it is certainly worth a look for anyone that likes CCGs or fighting games.

I've had Starbase Orion downloaded forever, but it was just so intimidating I never really gave it a shot. Decided the other day to just sit down and try to figure it out. Well it took a few goes at it, but it finally clicked last night. What an amazing game!
The interface is what really gets me. This is a fairly complex game, and yet the interface does just about everything I want it to. It works in a way that even $60 blockbusters sometimes don't. One of the best examples of this is how the Ship Designer is located under the Military tab, and so that is generally where I go when I want to modify my designs, but there's also a shortcut to the Ship Designer under the planetary build menu (which is where you queue up your next project. So if you forget to modify your ship after unlocking plasma turrets, and are already in the build menu, you don't have to back all the way out. It's a little thing that goes a long way.
Starbase Orion is like $8 now, which is obviously pretty expensive for iOS, but if you want a really meaty game this is a good choice. The game I have going right now against 1 AI has been going for like 5 hours already.

Batman is pretty good. I think I like it more than IB, and I'm not even that big of a Batman fan. Everyone should grap this since it's dropped to a buck.

Just in case I want to sing my praise about this game. Great art syle, wonderful music, awesome characters and worlds, super addicting rpg lite type meets underwater pseudo angry birds game play (I use angry birds loosely). I seriously loved everything about this game. Really good stuff here. Lots of content too. Just when I thought I did everything more and more kept coming. Cant wait for the sequel.
Now a question for those who HAVE played the game. Now that I have finished it I'm a sucker (no pun intended
) for getting achievements and I'm trying to get them all and I'm a big short with no guidance on how to finish it. I'm looking for the "Lets Bounce" achievement. I thought I bounced off of SOMETHING with every squid on every turn and didnt get it. Are there specific things your supposed to bounce off of? What exactly qualifies as a bounce? If nobody knows is there a site out there like Achievement Hunters for Xbox cheevos but for iPhone games?

Realized that I have the ipa on my itunes.
since ios 5, I really haven't synced my iphone with my computer since lol.
Infinity Blade 1 and 2 might not be revolutionary but they have more depth than most iOS games I've played. Fact that you don't like the type of gameplay doesn't mean it's shallow, I've clocked more than a hundred hours in both games in total and I'm still honing my skills a lot.

So I'm finally considering Junk Jack. Seems super meaty. First question...iPhone or iPad? And is there a lot to "do" or is it very Minecrafty where you just build structures for fun?
There's a free lite version if you wanna give it a try.
It's not as satisfying as full one minecraft but I really like it, loads more crafting and stuff. Looooads of stuff, definitely recommend it. Best minecraft style game on ios

Nova 3 multiplayer is really fun. Havent even touched single player yet. Apparently in the next update ipad 3 users can choose between retina res and no effects or ipad 2 res with effects. It will be interesting to compare.

Hmmm... To each his own I guess. It is just basically whack-a-mole with fancy graphics to me. Don't take me wrong, I like the games, but they are just shallow and repetitive to me. Fun? Absolutely! Deep? No . But I don't expect depth from an iOS game. If I want depth I look to my consoles or my PC. iOS games for me are just a distraction meant to be played in bite sized chunks. Infinity Blade serves this purpose just fine for me.
