The iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch Gaming |Thread4| NOT Doomed

I posted this a few pages back but didn't get a response, so I'm just quoting it again to see if I can get one now. Any help is appreciated!

But now I actually have a question for anyone else too. I downloaded that through iTunes on my computer (which I've never done before), and when I tried to put just that game onto my phone, it put every single game/app I've ever owned back onto my phone. It was like 3 or 4 pages or stuff I had long since deleted.

I had to go through it all and individually delete everything (because even when I cancelled the sync, they were all still there). I decided to try again and make 100% sure I was only selecting Fruit Ninja this time, but once again it put everything onto my phone.

Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

alright awesome thread, help me out:

i've been out of the country and offline for three weeks, just got back. i usually check this thread daily, so...what awesomeness did i miss in iOS gaming land in the last three weeks?

In iTunes select your device, select the apps section; make sure the sync new apps is unchecked. Also, when you sync if it asks if you want to apply your changes say yes. If you didn't make any changes in iTunes itself relating to installed apps or their placement, it's asking if you want to keep the changes you've done on your phone over time or revert back to the way iTunes thinks it should be. (Thats my experience at least.)

Otherwise I don't know.

Has anyone figured out how to play Burnout Crash?
It has something to do with flicking around the car in the middle and making it crash into other cars, while trying to keep it mostly in the center of the screen. I think.

I'm honestly not entirely sure... That game kinda blows.

In other news, anyone who hasn't downloaded Oh! Cube yet, DO IT NOW while it's still free. Here was the latest puzzle I solved.

So Burnout Crash blows, how about Risk? I see EA has a bunch of games on sale and Risk is only $.99...

I just can't shake the feeling that there's a good game in Burnout Crash buried underneath my inability to understand how to play it.

Good to hear man.

Came here to post that I just bought Tigris & Euphrates for $.99, and now you're enticing me to get into Ghost Stores, Astro.

Also for anyone who cares, Battle Nations is getting some hefty support as of late. It's still good off-and-on fun for me.

And that Plague Inc game - I got Pandemic 2.5 for free through one of the free app dealies (forgot which one), and didn't really care for it. Seemed too confusing/boring and didn't like the presentation. What makes Plague Inc that much better? Games like these make me overly superstitious, just like the movie Contagion did. :lol

Plague Inc: It's

a) made from ground-up for iOS, not just the shitty port Pandemic was, so its Menues and UI actually work and look great and everything is optimized for iOS/touchscreen
b) has much more options and functions and customization than Pandemic

But it works in the same way, so if you found Pandemic boring you MIGHT find Plague Inc boring too... I'd definitely give it a try though, especially because Pandemic was a pretty bad port of the flash game.

as far as "Risk" goes, it's actually not bad. Has a lot of options and plays well. If you like the boardgame you'll like the port, but there are just so many better boardgames for iOS that I hardly ever play it :P -cough- Ascension, Carcassonne, Nightfall, Neuroshima Hex, etc :D

I wish there was an OT for Infinity Blade 2 as I have so many questions...

Are there known hidden places for keys...or do I basically have to resort to just buying them all the time eventually?

Is there any rhyme or reason to the gem forging? For example if I throw in 3 "bonus XP" gems that are +30, +25 and +20-I will end up with one that is +30. What gives?

I noticed after the recent update-when I first enter the castle and defeat the first enemy in that hallway-as I leave, you see a figure observing you high up who slinks away...should I be doing something there? Did I miss something?

"What better subject for a French studio to make a strategy game about than the US civil war? This remake puts a modern spin on the classic 1990 tactical title."

“This game is a mix of Age of Empires and the Oregon Trail, but with a heck of a lot more action.”
“[…] See for yourself how great this iPhone/iPad game is ! ”

“A revival in the truest sense, Bluecoats keeps the best elements of the original, replaces parts that begged for overhaul, and wraps the altered formula in a much prettier package. If I had to choose one version to show off as an example of the true potential of genre mashups, it would undoubtedly be this one.”
“If you’re generally a fan of strategy games and have at least a passing interest in action, you’ll find lots to love in Bluecoats’ three-way mashup. The game’s greatest failing is simply that it lets you jump in on normal difficulty — it’s utterly clear that you need to move up the challenge ladder starting from the very bottom.”

“For small sessions it does a solid job of making you think on your feet. The iOS version makes far more sense to buy than the PC, and iPad owners will probably get the best out of it. The mini games certainly make for an unusually mixed strategy experience, just make sure not to get too good at the shooting and turn the difficulty up!”

From what I've experienced, keys are held by titans and monster dudes. You kill them for the keys. Keys are one time use only, so if you want more goodies, you need to go back and kill the dude for that key again.

Now, anybody know how to set up a stab? No idea how to do it on purpose.

Thanks for the tip-I just got a large key off the mech boss.

I don't think you can do a stab on demand-it's random-however if you use the dual weapons, and use the super attack-you do a lot of stabs-I wonder if those count towards the goal?

I know this shit doesn't count as a game per se, but for those of you who at true ballet enough to be jailbroken, you've gotta grab Swipe Select. Basically, it moves your cursor by sliding your finger across the keyboard. Hold in shift and you can highlight while you move.

Pretty damn solid. With a few tweaks, |ike an activation lag, it'd be worth it for Apple to include it in a fzuture upset. It really fixes a stupid, stupid problem Apple currently has. Now, just for fun, I'm going to randomly underline things past this post, since that use to be super annoying before.

Ok wut
There's an app for jail broken phones that allows you to select things?

I am true ballet and interested

I did this too this weekend-and once you use it-it makes zero sense why this isn't part of the default OS. It makes so much sense and works perfectly.

Yes, the amount of content and quality is up there with retail titles you would pay $40 on DS (not to mention it looks better than a DS title).

Keys are random drops and are strewn around much like gold sacks/potions. You only get guaranteed keys from titans the very first time you beat them on a character play through (this includes all rebirths).

Stabs are as said the special for dual wields and you can also get it by dodging titans with sword/shield during certain attacks.

On another note I haven't played any iOS games for ages now, Diablo 3 takes up all my gaming time. Once settled I'm gonna dig into Eclipse for some 4X 'mmo' action.

It lets you move the text cursor around by sliding your finger on the keyboard. It's great.

Android does that?

Not sure, android allows you to swipe over your keyboard and whenever you cut a corner it writes the letter on that corner, you make a little circle for double-letters. What does this iOS thing do?

It's too bad the Epic Win guys apparently bailed on the app (no updates in past year). Always thought that was a fun idea. Any other gamey to-do/task apps? Preferably iPad-ready.

I broke down and bought Sword and Poker 2 yesterday. It was 4 dollars and I thought I might regret the purchase after playing the light version (representing about 20 percent of the game) and breezing through it.

But I am surprisingly pleased at how well balanced it is and it does offer quite a challenge as you begin to go through the various areas/stages of the game. It introduces a lot of new wrinkles to the battles, a decent amount of upgrades and you never really have to grind to get ahead (although that is an option if you want to do it). Best of all, no IAP at all.

So, if you are a fan of Puzzle-RPG games, this one is top notch and well worth the 4 dollar price tag it currently has. Don't let the Poker part of this game scare you away, it's a puzzle/strat game at it's heart.

I always thought the poker part was the best part of the game :p
