I think they "tweaked" the video "a bit". But over 50 pre-ordered already ... so, get your family members some bike-helmets. Just in case.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
Back when I had to travel to SF for work often and dreaded a long commute, I imagined that in the future I would use a vehicle like this. However, now that I am WFH permanently, I don't see the point anymore. I get the feeling that had we not gone the route of telecommuting, flying vehicles would have been the next big bet by automotive companies.

How many can't drive a car?
I think its incredible and I'd love one, but living in Florida 7 years and these people get crazy with kayaks and golf carts, I can't imagine the stories these things could make.
Though thankfully I'd say I hope the price tag helps keep this out of the hands of these people, but there's some psychos with $50,000 monster trucks so that may not be all true. :|

Nothing screams climate friendly like a single person flying machine. What is the energy efficiency of these things? That is the biggest risk to this, politicians and the government would probably rather people be decapitated than do something seen as bad for the environment these days.

In the Toyota video, the purpose of that giant solo copter was for transportation, yet the battery lasts 5 minutes.

Might as well just walk it. Even if you couldnt walk it, where are you going to land that? On a roof top or someone's backyard? Its got to be a place with nobody standing nearby.

  • It will be too loud
  • It will be too dangerous
  • It will be too expensive
  • It will cost a lot to maintain as with every flying object
  • It can't go far enough to be of practical use
  • You will probably have to alert the FAA if you want to fly it anywhere that's not an airport
  • It's a dumb idea
It does everything an Helicopter can but worse.
Remember, helicopters still kill people regularly (RIP KOBE)

Imagine when battery tech finally hits its stride and this thing could get hours of flight holding 4 people and your dog. Road trips will take on new meaning.

The Blackfly has to be a scam. Are the owners going to assemble it on their own or is everyone getting a small crew for that? For something that is over 3 years in the making, barely any progress.
