'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

Good, good. So are we all in agreement to play on that difficulty?

LOL If you do you should record it and do a Let's Play. I want to see how far someone can get going through Grounded Mode for their first time for the lulz.

Really though, you should do normal or hard for a first playthrough so you can enjoy the ride. If you want a bit of a challenge turn off listen mode.

I could be wrong but didn't someone from GAF make that? In The Last of Us Screenshot thread? :p
GAF > INTERNET > GAF !?

Yep thats from this thread and the screenshot thread.

No, no mi amigo. I've already completed it on hard with listen mode off.

normal if you want just the story with fun gameplay

hard if you want to be a little more careful with the supplies and a slight more challenging (more about survival)

id say turn off listen mode if you want to increase the tension which is what i'll be doing when playing it this time

I cannot stress it enough.

Turn off listen mode.

Seriously.

During my first playthrough I saved and saw I was already at 25% in a couple hours. Decided to turn listen mode on to make the game last longer a bit, and it turns out it's MUCH better without Listen Mode.

Hell it's even better on Survivor because of the very limited ressources, but Normal or Hard and no Listen Mode is the way to go the first time around. The game goes from walk in the park to actual survival, tense gameplay.

One of the most undermining features I've ever found in a game. Nobody should ever, ever play with this on. Actually the only way it should ever be accessible is through a "Ninja Dog" mode

The manager said they're not finished unloading tonights inventory from the truck. If it came in it should be on the shelves by 7am. I was on hold for five minutes so she actually took the time to check.
But that's the trick. The game will probably be there and you could even pick it up, the problem is when you go to the cashier and they scan it. I mean I hope it works for people but I'm not holding my breath.

So since its my first time maybe while having listen mode off play on normal instead of hard?

yeah that sounds like a good idea

normal if you want a decent experience (because there are a few toughish section)
hard if you want it to be more of a survival/horror experience

and no listen mode (can always turn it back on if things get difficult)

I'd say go with Listen Mode Off and Hard. But I think the part where stealth breaks and you barely escape alive while using the tools at your disposal is the best part. I also think reloading because you got spotted is a sin.

As far as I know you can change all the variables in the middle of a playthrough so tweak it until you're enjoying it. In the end that is what entertainment products are all about.

I don't know if all Walmarts are the same, but the guy who was streaming Sunday said he bought it without any problems. The register didn't prevent the sale. Hopefully it's like that elsewhere.

Here is a good comparison I found of the PS3 & PS4 version. From someone who got an early copy.

Excellent, I remember this one.

Great anti-aliasing in the remastered version. I will probably play hard with listen mode
ON for my first play-through. See how it goes from there.

Was this posted already? It's a few days old so I wasn't sure.

I don't think so.

Also, I brought this up before but don't think there was really an answer. Has ND said what's happening with the MP maps? Did they get the remastered treatment as well?

I ask because I'm wondering how that will affect release of future MP maps - will they have to create 2 versions of each, one for PS3 and one for PS4?

How hard would you say hard mode is? I'm thinking of starting with that and "listen" turned off...I like a good challenge.

It isn't very difficult, it's just that supplies are found less often compared to normal and easy. Making you think twice on weather crafting a med kit or a Molotov.

PS4 exclusive horde mode would be ace and would make sense seeing how the PS3 couldn't handle it.

HEAR THAT NAUGHTY DOG, DO IT AND RANK IN THE CASH!!!

Play on hard, it's never overwhelmingly difficult - but it is difficult enough that it feels rewarding - and when you die you know its because you messed up - not because the game cheated you. Basically the harder difficulties just means it takes less bullets to kill you

Playing on easy is just too easy and it doesn't feel satisfying that you can take multiple bullets and be sweet

Cool thanks! I really want that survivor-type feeling. I hate games that claim "Ration, because items are in short supply" but I always wind up with everything I'll ever need lol.

If you play on anything less than hard that's how it will feel, hard gives you just enough.
