That footage on the last page is a framerate nightmare. I'm assuming it's the fault of the capture though.

Hey. Cut it out. Stop arguing all of you.

Yeah come on guys, we have to respect the wishes of Tricky's psychologist and frame his behaviour positively to avoid a breakdown. It's important for his recovery.

It's a joke. You've heard of those.

I want to laugh but I'm scared of being pictured as a troll

Did you play the game? Is it that hard to fathom that this game might reach those meteoric heights where games, film, and narrative merge?

Nib, here's another one for your list, and it also contains Citizen Kane, so I guess its a double whammy.
Well seeing as how zero games have done this yet, I remain skeptical at best that The Last of Us (or any other game for that matter) is going to do this. I've been playing video games for 27 of my 31 years on this rock, and if I want a narrative I'll read a book or watch a film. I don't need that stuff in my games. If it happens cool, I suppose.

I'm just saying that reviewers get carried away with their praise, people interested in the game then get carried away, and it just makes discussing the game in any way, shape, or form an unpleasant experience. This isn't exclusively to The Last of Us, or even just to Naughty Dog games. This is for any big, super anticipated release (Halo games, Gears of War games, God of War games, Bioshock Infinite, any Rockstar games, etc. etc. etc.). Even in the very best of those games the hyperbole is laid on so thickly in the reviews that it makes it hard to take them seriously.

From what I can say, without getting anyone in trouble, there will be a review that is not a perfect score that is not a 93/100. People have opinions.
Noooo so a 92 instead I am mad!

Like it matters though,I think the demo told me everything I needed to know.

8/10 is still a really good score. I don't really care about the scores. I just hope it sells well.

This could be Sony's second first party PS3 game to top the NPD chart.

This thread tomorrow.

96.38% is the score to beat.

Honestly, I don't think TLoU will beat it. Uncharted 2 came at just the right time, with just the right hype, with just the right gameplay to wow people. Many reviewers going into TLoU are going to have Uncharted in the back of their minds and even though they say they won't, comparisons will be made.

UC2 was not only an unbelievably well crafted game, it was also technologically stunning. Next-gen might not be here, but it's already embedded in the press, TLoU isn't going to wow people on that level.

Dude. You should know GAF is full of animals, why'd you have to open up that can of worms?

I can already see this turn into another 8/10 Uncharted 3 or Twillight princess 8.8 for some obscure reason.

It's not going to be like either of those. Uncharted 3 was coming off the amazing UC2 and Twilight Princess had a LOT of pressure attached to it (zelda game, wii launch, etc).

People want to see meltdowns so bad that they are trying to egg it on so it becomes true.

I remember reading a recent preview which didn't sound too impressed with the game. I can't remember the name of the site, but it could be them, I guess.

Jim's review. Calling it.
I don't think so. I guessed almost every score from him correct for the last year. I think 9 is the lowest he will go, unless the story turns out to be pretty bad.

You guys are terrible.

Anyway. I see Naughty Dog is still the high school jock. :D
What? It was a joke. Her post was just the most cute threat/request I saw in quite some time from a mod here. I think I can joke about it, because I'm not in the target audience. I certainly don't want another ugly and derailed review thread.

That's not the concern here. There are passionate Sony and Naughty Dog fans that might turn tables and hystierically blow things out of propotion once that "one reiview" gets released. Just sayin'

Videogamer.com was one of the sites that wasn't really impressed by the press demo. The reviewer has since completed it and has said that his initial impression was "very, very wrong".

Pretty much since the first page of this thread there have been people begging for meltdowns.
