Seems a lot like "validly complaining" the combat of Silent Hill 2. Both are oppressive games where you need to feel the frailness of the situation of the character you're playing. Playing as a character that isn't Joe The Gunwielder, and the control reflecting that, sounds like attention to detail, and play to the psychology of a situation like this. I can't say I'm surprised that people didn't get that about SH2, and the same with this.
I'm not talking about the aiming system where the inaccuracy was done on purpose to be more realistic. I can see that being a criticism though as just being realistic isn't always a good thing. The bigger issue is with the AI where Sessler also noted how sometimes the enemies won't react to Ellie which ruins immersion. The wave thing if true is also an issue. I say if true as some people say that's not the case. Also enemies being bullet sponges might add up that feel of conventionalism.
