I don't even know how this is possible.

But damn am I excited to find out.
I know, right.
The hype about this opening is like even more exciting than the actual reviews. I mean, even the reviews had some variety in terms of scores. They weren't all perfect

But every single person has said the opening/first twenty minutes are jawdroppingly amazing, best opening of any game ever, best opening of the generation

I can't begin to imagine what happens.

Said nobody's wife ever...

I'm kidding. My wife is also pretty pumped for The Last of Us. I think she's as much of a Naughty Dog fan as I am. She's currently hogging up my PS3 playing Dragon's Dogma, since her PS3 died on her and we just haven't gotten it replaced/repaired yet.

She probably won't play TLoU, because she thinks it's terrifying, but she'll watch me play (she loves to watch me play games, but especially survival horror games; and then she gets up and leaves the room when it gets too intense. LOL. I have a feeling she'll be "watching" me play the Last of Us from the bathroom)

Heh, my wife and I have played so many violent video games together (namely Left 4 Dead) that nothing really scares her anymore. I guess I'm the same way, but one thing that's always stuck with us is that we both love zombies, so I'm not entirely surprised that she wants this game too. But also, she just appreciates a really well done game.l

FUCK I really have to unplug my internet.

See you LoU gaf in a week! Unless we can make a LoU Media Blackout thread

For real? This is the first one in a few years that stands a chance of actually being good.

It's the last few I haven't been bothered about.

For the last three e3's my friends and i tend to ask ourself why we got so hyped about it in the first place. Hopefully this e3 changes that, but i really have my doubts.

Adding User opinions to OT.

Holyshit Part 2 ? Continued from uncharted 2 it seems

more like OMG and WTF reactions than Holy shit.

I'm about ~2/3 (12 hours) through the game, and already it is one of the best games I've played. (up there with RE4)

Whoever is playing this right now, I just want to say that I hate you and envy you very dearly. I've been dying to play a new game for a while and this... this seems exactly what I was looking for.

Incredible scores

Lets hope for a sequel on PS4

I never liked the Uncharted series and the Indiana Jones style, but this game is exactly what i would like to see from Naughty dog

I know, right.

Bioshock and Infinite both still rank higher for me in terms of openings, the first because we'd seen nothing like it before, and the second because of just how damned gorgeous it is. Infinite's art design just wins for me.

God of War 3's amazed on a technical level that just couldn't be believed at the time.

At this point, I'm almost sad to say I expected the level of technical fidelity on display for LOU (these are the wizards that gave us UC2 four years ago after all), so that element didn't quite knock me on my ass. It's the sheer humanity of the moment, the drama, the intensity, the acting, that's where this intro excels and beats out the Bioshocks for me. Being so much more realistic than Bio/infinite/GOW3 helps too. This one hits home.

It's been awhile since I've been won over so quickly to the emotional place of my avatar in a game. That's always an incredible achievement.

FUUUUK!!

How are people getting copies so early?? It feels like it's literally 48 hours in a day. I want this game injected into my brain RIGHT NOW!!

Why is it that I can never find the stores that break the street date!?!?

I feel your pain. Ive been looking everywhere. Finally found a mom and pop store that says they break dates all the time but it has not come in yet. Took my number said he'd call me when it comes maybe monday. Its raining here and boring as hell it would be perfect to have now. I could really care less about e3 especially since those games wont be coming out until late this year mid next. Dafuck Sony.

All of the impressions that follow are from people who have the game early and have responded to concerns about the AI on The Last of Us official forum

You can punch humans down and aim at them just like the E3 demo. They will beg for their lives and if you wait for a while or stop aiming, they will stand back up and rush you for a last attempt.

You can take hostages and everyone are all "Take it easy!"

You clean a room and two people come searching going all "I know you're here! Show yourself!"

The AI will flank you and surprise you constantly.

The only thing that I haven't seen that was in the E3 demo was the very last moment with the cutscene like play where one guy jumps on Joel, Ellie stabs him in the back, and it all seemingly blends.

But Ellie still does stab people in the back to save you when you're struggling which is pretty much the exact same thing.

The struggle tap square also create those mini cutscenes and the whole context sensitive melee gameplay is amazing. You can't counter as far as I can tell. But in midst of Square square square, the opponent might dodge, and THEN you are presented with the chance to block and push him back by the usage of Triangle.

In short =>
The AI is like the E3 demo from what I feel. And I am only 4 hours in. If you take your time and play the same scenario over and over, you will be able to capture some really amazing moments and eventually make your own "E3 video". It really feels like you're taking lives.
----
You will not be dissapointed. They act like real human beings that are desperate. I feel bad taking lives and I am constantly amazed at how they communicate, the way they move and reach conclusions of sorts. It's really INCREDIBLE.
---
I think that had to do with the fact that Joel just aquired a gun and he saw him reload it which made him flee. (Talking about extended E3 where last guy flees)

It feels like the AI takes this into account because like I stated above: I am loaded with ammo and such stuff xD. But I have seen runners for instance: Run and gather friends and then come back and get me.

Also at one point, I hit this guy with the butt of my pistol and his friend saw it and went running. I chased him down as he was heading to a room that I later found out to have two guys in it. It felt like he was going for reinforcements or something here too. In short: It feels like it could be possible.

The AI is really outstanding. It's hard to predict what they do and when they do something, you tend to be amazed.

It also depends on how well you play. If you go guns blazing and they have the numbers on you, they might just all go for it. But if you capture one of them, and play a bit with you know.. real tension and drama in mind: You sure will be in for a treat!
----
I meant more the fact that I hit someone and killed him. Then hidd behind a box. I heard a guy say "What the **bleep**" but I am not using listening mode so I had no idea where he was. It sounded from the far hall of sorts. He then comes creeping into the room going "I KNOW YOU'RE HERE!". I'm like.. **bleep** xD, throw a bottle and smash him against the wall and finish him with a hook <3

Also guys: Playing the game without listening mode is FULLY possible. I haven't reached a single moment where I feel like I can't do it without it. I have it disabled and it just forces you to play carefully and not enter every area without being careful.

lol i'm watching the Gamespot live stream now on twitch (HIDE CHAT!) and one of the gamespot guys started talking about TLoU and he said that Tom (the reviewer) previously wanted to give TLoU a 11/10.

O_o

of course he was joking but i wonder what happend that he lowered the score to 8/10? hm...

Indeed. The only scary game we played together was Dead Nation, which we loved. Man, I wish they had done a sequel. There haven't been many survival horror games we play together. She loves scary movies and games, but won't play them herself. Lol.

We mostly play FPSes and action/rpgs that have co-op. We're currently lamenting that Dragon's Dogma doesn't have co-op, so we've been alternating between playing it.

EDIT: I had fun at last year's E3, but it wasn't super crazy like years before. I'm actually super excited about this years, and I'm hoping to get my hands on some PS4 launch games. From my experiences, what they show at press conferences, and what they have on the show floor is like night and day. Last year, so much great stuff was on the show floor, I just didn't know why no one showed off those things during their pressers.

Next week is going to just be damn awesome for me between going to E3, getting The Last of Us, and watching Man of Steel with my wife.

OLHY SIHT!!

I need this game LIKE RIGHT NOW IN MY LIFE!

It sounds so beautiful.

Great news, thank you. Put a lot of my worries to rest.

If you've seen both E3 demos, would you say the AI still acts as dynamically (reacting to empty guns, running away in fear and hiding before ambushing you, etc.)? Can you give any specific examples of what you've seen the AI do?
Well, they have done mos things in the demo. But when they grab you the camera angle is different and I haven't seen one hold me up while telling another one to shoot.

There's also some bad AI sometimes. Everyone knows I'm having a shotgun as I just shot with it but sometimes a guy will still walk slowly up to you even though he is unarmed.

It also happens that when a guy knows you are behind the counter and walks up to it, and you then throw a brick behind him - then his focus will be on where that sound effect came from and he totally forgets you behind the counter.

I have played for a few hours more. This game gets better.

I half expect one of the MS/Nintendo conferences to drop TLOS spoilers to screw over the competition.

Reggie: Hello, and welcome to Nintendo's 2013 E3 Direct. Last year, we showed you our new console, the Nintendo Wii U. This year, it's all abou the games.

*shows clip of TLOU ending spoilers*

Reggie: Oops! How that get in there? Let's see if we can fix this...

*shows Bayonetta 2 trailer, show continues like nothing happen*

Oh god. This is the stuff of nightmares.

So I'm spying a few early copies of the US version on here now, is it safe to assume that all stores in the states have it in the back at this point?

Haha I sound like a bank robber.

Fucking A these impressions from the intro. Good lord I can't take it. I think I will make a genuine effort to retreat from the Internet after I see all the e3 stuff Monday. Oh god the hype!!!
