The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC |OT| More Olivier Than Ever

I agree about Tita. I normally roll my eyes or mash through dialogue from kid characters in games (like Ys Seven Elk)

Awww... I really like Elk, too! :( He's my avatar on the Ancient Land of Ys forums, in fact.

I tend to like kids in games overall, though, because I like "kid adventures" -- grew up idolizing the Goonies and reading The Three Investigators and Encyclopedia Brown, so I guess that comes with the territory. ;)

I only like them when they're written well, though -- and Falcom's pretty good at writing kids well. The only real exception to that I can think of is Terra, who is far and away my least favorite "Ys girl" of all time, ESPECIALLY in Ys V. Man, Ys V Terra sucks so bad. ;)

This
penguin
boss is fucking obnoxious.
I havent had control of anyone on my team for like 15 straight turns.

There are some nice moments right near the start of Chapter 2.

(Pre arrival at main location stuff)
The kids all showing up to send off Estelle and Kloe was really sweet. Everyone got some nice moments there, and they all felt really genuine. The scene between Estelle and Olivier on the airship was also really well done.

Restarted on normal, now the difficulty is just right, fights are challenging but fair. Just finished the prologue, I love everything about Trails SC so far

Edit: I know no really good full guide exist for this game, but is there at least a list of all quest and maximum bp by chapter/quest so I can know if I've done everything in a chapter before moving on.

I guess the thing about Elk was that he just had nothing of value to say.
Mishera had the exact same problem.
Whether it was serious or comedic, informative or ignorant, it was like... listening to a tour guide kid and that was all he had. So it felt to me that Falcom just wanted an excuse for a kid to be there rather than considering the actual feelings and thoughts of a kid.

Aisha was the better kid in every way. :p

Oh shit, there's a mind 1 and a sacrificial puppy in the sewer?! That should make the prologue boss winnable :O

Getting that thing was a pain in the ass on nightmare. Had to retry 5 times till I got the 2 misses I needed for it to even be possible.

Normal difficulty in this game seems more challenging compared to the last game. Previously I didn't really bother to learn the orb combos and got through it fine except on the last dungeon. This one takes more planning, even on some regular encounters early on. Like those damn exploding spheres. And bosses so far have been a good challenge.

Oh, yeah, I agree -- Aisha was my favorite character in that game by far. Cruxie was also really cool, even if she didn't get a lot of development.

I just liked Elk and Mishera a lot, too! I liked everyone in Ys Seven, really. Good cast overall.

Mustara did nothing for me he was kind of boring, but as a whole I did like the whole of Ys 7's cast more then Mem of Celc's which is the most apt comparison for ys games.

Ended up missing Sunday School too.

Shame too, it sounded cool. Damn you, rigid time limits!

Not in 18 hours, but in 12.9 hours.

Glad it's not just me. Never missed a request entirely like that before, I was crushed. Something to look forward to next time around.

That reminds me, spotted a very minor typo in the casino. The man by the slot machines said something about playing "a around of poker". Not even sure that's worth the effort to fix though as it barely even registered at first.

On GAF alone there's a variety of opinions on the first two Kiseki games' soundtracks, most in moderate favor of them (and the battle tracks for sure) but others are more extreme. So I don't get why they "seem to get a ton of praise" when the spectrum's more complex.

Hey, I'm just going by my own experience. All I tend to see for the soundtracks is praise.

Wish enemies didn't initiate combat by touching anyone in my party, just the party leader. Everyone running in a line like idiots essentially means you can't skip fights in narrow tunnels.

e: lmao, even
the fucking dragon
knows Cassius. I wish he was the main protagonist.

Noticed a couple of other typos, a missed "a" and "to" instead of "too" (both I think we're Murray just after chapter one. Actually surprised how few there are given the volume of text.

A bigger issue was Phelio in the gambler Jack side quest referring to "all 3 of you" when there are 4. At a later point,
Kloe
decides to sit out but he wasn't to know that.

I just changed party member order whilst on the small bridge in
the port side of Ruan
and managed to get one of the middle party members to fall through the bridge. Had a little run around with a gap but it soon corrected itself. Got a few mildy amusing screenshots at least.

Just started the gambling side quest...
Agate's bluff scene was fantastic!

Finished it. Olivier is great as always, even harassing poor Agate lol

Finally finished chapter 1, my clock is already past 10 hours. And I still have how many chapters left? 70 hour game indeed. No way I'll be able to finish this before Cold Steel what with Tales of Zestiria and Yo-Kai Watch plus school and life.

But I'm finally playing Second Chapter in English so all is well.

I remember running into that seahorse enemy in Sapphirl tower and it kept noticing me when I sneaked behind it, which made it impossible to get a preemptive attack. This is new for SC, right? Don't think that happened to me in FC.

And yeah, in my experience so far SC's slightly more difficult than FC. I almost never had to use healing items in FC, but I already burned through a couple in SC's prologue. Gotta say, I like it better that way.

There are some enemies that cannot be sneaked behind. I remember there were some in FC.

Also, completed Chapter 2. I love the fact that besides the fact that the villains are badass they also have some depth and share some story with the heroes.

Chapter 6 end.
And love conquers all.
Again. Meh.

e: oh jesus, is chapter 7
all dungeons? Hate the dungeons in this game

The fact that *character spoiler*
there is an EVIL Olivier is
somehow both very wrong and very right.

Yeah, sorry again about my post, I wasn't thinking. I haven't been banned once yet (I think?) and I aim to keep it that way.

Anyway, chapter 7.
Fuck these boring dungeons. At least the power of friendship didn't win.

Haze quartz fixes that, can't wait to get it in this game and use it until the end.
however you sure can sneak behind enemies in the Sapphirl Tower without it, it's just trickier because some of them are fast.

some questions,

- I'm missing two monsters from the prologue, how? I'm sure I killed every monster I saw. also are there shining poms during the prologue? That might be one of the two I missed. edit/ apparently they're found randomly together with other monsters, ugh. and it seems like I missed the ones in the prologue already. is there an achievement for killing all of them like in FC?

- is there a list of shining poms locations/encounters* during the chapters? Also looking for the list of the complete fishing book and how to get each fish, -

- is Heaven's Eye bugged? I don't see enemies in the minimap. ''information'' doesn't work either, -
anyone? :'(

Short question about chapter 1 sidequests:
I just entered the school and it seems I can't go back now. Will I still be able to complete the Krone Pass Monster and Aurion Monster quests?

Yes.
After you complete the school stuff, you will have free-roaming

End of chapter 8,
I did not see that coming. I'm glad that not everything about this story is super predictable.

Reading the tvtropes entry for TiTS, I wish I had the version of SC those people played.
Legitimately amazing plot twists? Unless final chapter cranks things up considerably, this is one predictable JRPG story. Berserk-level darkness? Not even close by any stretch of imagination.

Now that I think about it, that entry might be a big reason why I thought FC was such a disappointment. It got me hyped to hell and back, but the game(s) never delivered.

Got past the prologue and some ways into Chapter 1. So far, story-wise, this was a much better start than FC. It picked up from the ending of FC really well
(Estelle's denial of the situation was sad and although at first I was kind of eh with Kevin in a "bleh, not another lecherous male character", in the end his involvement was a nice addition)
. The tutorial segment after the intro wasn't anything super-special, but by the end of the prologue they do start to push some of the more intriquing storylines forward already, so I'm pretty happy with the first 2-3 hours. The prologue's twist was predictable but still decently entertaining
(I did buy it at first when the attack happened, but our equipment being spread out in the forest was a dead give-away that it was only a part of a test)
. Chapter 1 continuing a certain "forgotten" sidestory from FC as a main storyline is fun, can't wait to see where it's headed. Only went to one of the few locations I was ordered to check out so far, so I'm not all that far into it, haven't even exited the city.

Getting towards the end (I think) of Chapter 3
and man Estelle you need to be smarter than this. I know you're not an idiot, but CLEARLY Renee is playing you like a damn fiddle. The bracers were DRUGGED and she bought Tea and Cookies for everyone. I mean come ON girl!

Still in the prologue but already loving it. I like how the few dungeons so far have been nice and meaty -- plenty to explore. It balances out all the dialogue. It's nice to be back with these characters.

Hopefully people in this thread will be better about spoilers than in the Zestiria thread. I had to stop popping into that one because of some pretty big spoilers just being dropped out in the open...

How many hours clocked to get to the end of Chapter 8?

So yeah, I beat the two final bosses of Chapter 3
Orguille and Amalthea
, and then after the battles ended the game crashed. I am beyond despair.

Oh, uh, Steam says around 30 hours but it's REALLY not representative at all. I'm playing on easy, I used the guide to get through some pixel-hunting parts and I tend to use cheat engine's fast forward feature when running around the fields.

Anyone know if it's possible to earn extra BP from the
poker
quest at the start of Chapter 2? I'm using
Schera
.

edit: The answer is apparently "No, it's not possible".

Just done the sidequest in chapter 2 at
the hotspring.
The different possibilities depending on
who you take with you
are stressing me out a little bit. Definitely room for a second (third or fourth) play through. I liked how it went though
I took Agate and Olivier. The bit about Olivier and Schera made me wish I'd had her along but Agate's awkwardness and refusal to take off his headband were pretty hilarious.

Don't think so,
there is only one route to not fail.

On another note, as much as I love these games, the lack of fast travel is just absurd. I mean we don't even have a spell or item to exit dungeons. I know this has to be a deliberate design decision, and it does make the world itelf feel huge (the fact that we are in a tiny country travel STILL takes forever.) But not having a mini map in the
Royal Sewers
either makes me want to shoot babies. It's optional I know, but GAH!!!

BTW at some point in the game can we return to previous areas? I'm PRETTY sure I have missed some chests and if I decide later that I want to go for that absurd get all chests one, can I do so? BTW XSEED? Acheivements like that SUCK! They aren't fun.

Agate
is the most powerful choice by far, right? I'm only playing on normal, but I could probably 2-man every encounter with Estelle and
him.
