The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC |OT| More Olivier Than Ever

I'm at the final chapter. I was completely taken by surprise by
Olivier being an Erebonian prince. I figured something devious was going on, as he was privately speaking to an Erebonian official over the phone regarding some plan, but I never thought that he was royalty. It was interesting seeing him act serious as a prince. He acted cooler than most characters in the series. lol

So am in the only one who turned off retry offset immediately?
Nope, I did too. There were a few times I had to retry and it's satisfying to eventually find a way to beat a boss that wiped the floor with your party. I'd say these are the times where the battle system actually shines as you have to use it to a deeper extent than the usual buffs, delays and s-breaks.

In Chapter 8
during the Jaeger takeover of the Academy, did anyone else find it hilarious that the boss of that quest, Gilbert, only got normal battle music? Especially since all the other Jaegers got Recapture for their fight song. Also it was fun fighting with Analace again but it was a surprise also using Kurt. I forgot that his arts were non orbal, it's too bad that it's probably very intensive learning those abilities, it'd be handy for any future Orbal Shutdown nonsense.

Also, amidst all the crazy shit happening in Grancel in this chapter, did anyone else catch Dorothy snapping photos even though her orbments in her camera should be unsuable?

I just finished Chapter 8 myself and have been scratching my head over the same thing. I don't get it. It's not even just that which bothers me, either.

Issue 10 of Liberl News (the one talking about the Orbal Shutdown Phenomenon occurring) includes a photo of the Ruan skirmish, but given the timeline of events, it doesn't make sense how a photo could have been developed and printed on paper if orbal cameras are entirely useless under the influence of the Aureole. I forget where and when exactly, but this was established previously through another NPC who said they couldn't get the photos developed from their orbal camera because the technology was being suppressed. Also, when the group is aboard the Arseille, Dorothy mentions having taken photos of Kloe's negotiation with the Imperials at the north of Haken Gate, which was still being affected by the Aureole according to Zechs.

So how is Dorothy taking photos with her camera in Grancel? How did they take and develop a photo of the Royal Army defending against the opposing forces in Ruan? How was Dorothy still able to use her camera in the outskirts of Erebonia? The Liberl News Service having access to a Zero Field Generator would explain it, but that's also impossible because generators were never made for anyone but the bracers (which were for the guildhouses and their all-important communication line) and Professor Russell spent his entire time on the Arseille developing the large capacity one to mobilize the cruiser. Unless you want to suppose that they had non-orbal cameras at their disposal, but that is ultimately something that is never set up by the plot, and would be weird for Dorothy because she's only ever been known to use an orbal camera, at least according to Nial.

As far as I can see, nobody acknowledges how either thing was made possible, and unless I'm overseeing something...well, yeah.

Silly by comparison, but this bothers me as much as (Chapter 4)
when the cows disappear at Perzel Farm as it's invaded by the fog monsters. The game doesn't provide an explanation as to where they could've gone during this time.

So am in the only one who turned off retry offset immediately?

I did, the only time I had a boss wipe my party was
chapter 7 renne with her stupid instant scraft. Just upped my def and mdef then she did only about half to everyone which I just healed and proceeded to easily win.

Whenever we see him on the phone, by the way? He's speaking with Mueller. This should be especially obvious at the end of chapter 4.

After one bullshit encounter that kept getting me killed before I could act I had little interest in turning it off. Made the difference between needing to dump progress or not, and ended up more amusing than aggravating.

EDIT: It helps too that I can always just quit and retry from the start menu for a boss fight I predicted, and like said I wonder if there's even that much of an effect.

After hitting a brick wall in the prologue on the "Hard" difficulty, where it was either grind for hours getting miniscule EXP each battle, pray to the RNG gods that the boss would have unfavorable turn advantages, or use offset to make it easier, I chose offset.

Was that the
Jaeger Kurt
fight? That fight sucked even on Normal...

I used all my Balms and only barely won by spamming s-crafts after I got off a few arts depleting my EP.

Chapter 9 spoiler

There are two bugs at the Aureole city. One is at the central office computer terminal and another is at one of the residence computer terminals. The bug is that the cursor is invisible. All you can hear is the sound of the cursor moving. I got around it by using my mouse to use the mouse cursor, thankfully. Interesting revelation that one of the Zemurian citizens, Celeste, is an ancestor of Kloe. She was the architect of the Aureole. I also noticed that Weissman was a name in the terminal, so could George Weissman be an immortal Zemurian?

Weird thing is those bugs are situational, sometime they rear their heads and other times the menus react normally.

About that last point, doesn't sound right. I think
he added himself to the database somehow in order to access key systems
, I remember the possibility was brought up at some point.

Ugh. God. The Riot Arm and two Solid Seekers boss battle is a pain in the ass. The Solid Seekers keep healing the Riot Arm, and I can't keep up in chipping away at the Riot Arm's health. Hell Gate and that other wide AoE darkness spell seem to be the only effective attacks on them.

Yeah. I've noticed that in other areas. Sometimes it'll show up, and other times it won't.

I don't remember this specific boss or when you get it but
I spammed Joshua's Death Scream art a lot. Kevin had it too. It comes down to orbment/equipment but both cast their spells pretty quickly.

I could use some help organizing my party, and where my party levels should be at.

Chapter 9 spoiler

Joshua and Estelle are at level 82, Agate is at level 80, Kevin and Olivier are at level 74. What's the best party formation before going into the tower? Would Kevin and Olivier have too low of levels?

I have a good idea on which orbmants to equip. Equipping Action 4, Move 3, and Cast 2 are the important ones. The time orbal arts appear to be the most effective against enemies in chapter 9. Anything else I should know?

I don't remember what level I was during the final boss fights, but if you need to grind you can go to the Liberl Ark Tunnels 3, and run into the squid-looking monsters until you get a group of like 8 shining poms. Then use S-Crafts or Death Scream.

I think you'll definitely want Kevin and Olivier at higher levels.

Well, that was worth it. Finished up about half hour ago and I think this definitely gets an entry in my favourite series list. Music wasn't always my jam, which is a bit thing for me normally, but the characters and world were so vibrant that it kept me engaged.

On the off chance are there any summaries of Ao or Third Chapter available? I know it isn't the same but some small context on events would be nice before moving on to Cold Steel.

Some encounter spoilers, but they are super obvious to see coming at this point

I was able to beat it without
Kevin or Olivier
in my party whatsoever at the end. My final party was
Estella, Joshua, Kloe, and Zane. I used Kloe for heals and maxed out arts and Zane strictly as physical damage, with Estelle as support heals/arts but with attack 4, and Joshua more damage arts and attack 4. Use Joshua's True Evil eye to slow down enemy attacks.
. Personally I didn't have too much trouble with any of the bosses but when you fight
Renne make sure you have accessories that prevent deathblow, and kill Pater-Mater first
.

>not using explosive cookies to prove your worth in combat

I'm a bad person who sees limited use items as an invaluable commodity (my elixirs in FF and seeds in DQ hardly ever get used hahah)... at least I'm not bad enough to do something like waste vulnerary stores like that one Awkward Zombie comic.

I used to have this problem too so I understand. Nowadays I buck the trend and try to abusively use items as much as possible to get rid of the save mentality, but even then, I have trouble finding spots to efficiently use items.

That being said though, I won fights against both "bosses" in the first chapter by explosive cookies. I didn't even realize how powerful they were when I used them for the first time, I thought it was a "STR buff" from reading the description, but when I used it, Estelle tossed it and did 1500 damage or something absolutely ridiculous like that; ended both fights the same way. I was laughing like a madman.

Chapter 9 level grinding

Damn! Praise Aidios for the shining poms! They give out 9000+ exp. They seem to disappear from the RNG after your party reaches level 90+. They no longer give 9000 exp after a certain level. I was getting 3000 exp at a certain level.

I was able to beat the final bosses on my first attempt because of Zeram Capsule/Powder.
I didn't realize Angel-form Weissman would make the floor disappear under your characters and remove them from the fight. Both Joshua and Zane got taken out when I had him down to about 30%
. Just kept using Zeram's on Estelle and it was cake. Glad I held on to them for so long.

But the Zeiss theme was sooooooooooooooooooooooo good.

Am I a bad person for abusing the casino for tons of money in Chapter 1?
That's precisely what casinos in JRPGs are for.

On to the final chapter now.

Man, I have a feeling that what hooks this leaves for sequels would mainly make me want to jump to Cold Steel anyway, going by
Olivier's talk of inner turmoil in Erebonia due to Osbourne's actions.
Though I suppose Zero/Ao could've touched on that since it sounds like
you know big events are going down in Erebonia in those games.

If you could buy sepith it would matter, but I don't think I came even remotely close to running out of mira.
Yeah, especially since the more lucrative Sepith types (Space and Mirage) seem to be in greater supply than the elementals. I had more issueswith unlocking everyones slots, but never any money issues.

Oh, and I'm finally on Chapter 9.
I'm sorry Josette. I tried to use you, I really did. But good god it shows that you haven't had the combat training of the main team.

I own both Zero and Ao on PSP. I'm hoping there are, or will be, fan translations of both of them. I'd like to play them someday.

Just looked around and you're right. It's even active! That's really nice, hopefully it'll be good.

Obviously if we don't hear from xseed in a year or two about third/zero/ao I'll play whatever fan translations come out for them like I did for AAI2, but I'll at least wait a tad to see if Xseed just passion projects the fuck out of those 3 titles.

It's so interesting where you get random lore namedrops and details. In the Finale
I tried to go up into the engine room of the Glorious but it doesn't let you. Joshua explains that this door has voice recognition security, which is unheard of among the general public's idea of orbment technology, and then goes on to explain a little about the Thirteen Factories and that Doctor (I forget his name) is the head of that side of the organization. Incidentally I had Father Kevin in the party and he was the one that asked about the tech, so I wonder if having someone else meant that they wouldn't have asked for more details.

I had Tita with me and she asks about that stuff (which makes sense). I had been wondering if it was a Tita specific thing, but if Kevin also asks than I assume it will always be asked by someone.

should be that vacant
building near the newspaper and coffee shop. it was was vacant since fc. i only entered once and never bought anything. hope that's what you were looking for.

Oooooh snap I forgot to check that entirely. I guess the window of opportunity is when you are
free to travel about the regions? Or is it after the siege of Grancel?

I'm finally about to enter the final dungeon (I assume).
With the addition of Mueller and Julia, there's quite a few combat options in the game now. I was using everyone pretty equally but I'm going to have to make some choices soon. I do want to use both of them a little though.

It also has a surprise inside
the former Mayor of Ruan used the last of his money to get parole and expects a lighter sentence due to him being under Weissman's influence when he did what he did. He opened up the Sepith shop (using sepith from dubious sources) because there's really nothing like that in Liberal and it seemed like a possible way for him to rebuild his wealth.

It's while you're able to travel around the country.

A little ahead of where I am.

To her credit
it DOES sound like Josette's helpful around the airship. But that doesn't mean crap about the battles outside of "our probable getaway ride should be in good working order!"

I'm also hitting some bugs there, like when accessing to Capua on, uhh, new entries.

Use the mouse instead of the controller if you're having trouble selecting things on the computers.

If anyone is interested, the soundtrack for TitS SC Evolution is up on Apple Music.
The Evolution versions are Vita ports/remasters that feature arranged versions of the OSTs. This one released today in Japan.
