The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is IGN's Game of the Show for E3 2016

Congrats.

Game of the show, and most of what Nintendo showed was the game's learn-it-yourself tutorial area. Impressive.

My hunch? This is the game that guarantees NX doesn't turn-in a GameCube/Wii U-tier market presence.

Really?

I love Zelda but the series hasn't felt like a powerhouse in sales since Twilight Princess.

Even Skyward Sword on the super popular Wii didn't sell as much as it should've.

I'm happy for Nintendo, they made a risky bet with new Zelda by focusing on it 100% I wouldn't have dared.

They brought back SS's shield parry? PRAISE THE SUN

This game alone has already sold me on the NX... and its coming out on the Wii U

Considering that Aonuma has recently confirmed that the NX version will have different graphics but the experience will be the same. This is a good indication that the next time we see this game, it will be the NX version with improved visuals...

The Zelda vs. Horizon debate is going to boil up repeatedly in the months to come.
The "Best of E3 2016" showdown is merely the first of many.
They will also battle for GAF's Most Anticipated Game of 2017 and Game of the Year 2017.

i feel like GAF's Most Anticipated Game of 2017 is going to be a 3-legged race between

Horizon, Zelda and God of War

Yep... exactly. First Xenoblade Chronicles X delivering on an amazing open world game and now they have Zelda to top it.

This moment from the trailer alone made me scream like no other!~

To think... what we saw was on Wii U. There's a chance that saturation or foliage and maybe some other minor details like be improved for the NX version too! SO SOLD! :D

Maybe but all I want is locked 60fps 1080p. It would look gorgeous with a little extra AA but I'll take a stable framerate with superior resolution first.

Congrats!! Hopefully it will live up to the hype. I will pick up the NX version, if it is significantly better (even though I have a Wii U)

If you can invoke that kind of crowd to play your game at E3, you know you've done something incredibly well.

Zelda is my personal best in show choice for this year's E3 as well.

I've been to a few E3s when a new Zelda was shown. That happened every morning they opened the doors.

Second best of E3 is going to be a race between Horizon and GoW. Zelda will win hands down.

True because its the only Nintendo game at E3 so Nintendo fans dont have to choose between multiple games like Sony fans have to.

Dont mean this in a bad way but it is how it is. Game looks amazing def top 5 for me but i still feel burned after Skyward sword which i absolutely hated.

Gameplay is best in the show I think. And I'll hold up on graphics chatter until I see if there's a difference on the NX version.

REVEAL THE NX TOMORROW PLEASE NINTENDO

It has a stupid amount of mechanics. A stupid amount. Just absurd. And No dumb Exp bars in sight. Just ingenuity and curiosity. Every time I see this game, I see something new, and this is the tutorial area. We've already seen the ramps of complexity from the later Shrines. We've seen an aura of mystery in the narrative and real danger in the environment as well as the promises of tremendous scale.

The game is too much, its ridiculous. Its one of the most overwhelming games I've ever seen.

This is the first time IGN has given this award to a non-multiplayer game since 2012 (Tomb Raider). The last three years its been Titanfall, Rainbox Six, and Battlefront.

Really wasn't sure how Nintendo was going to make Zelda look good after that Horizon demo, but they managed to do it. Was really impressed and loved the stuff they showed.

Yep, Nintendo's strength consolidating entirely around Zelda is going to make it the clear front-runner vs. the three noteworthy Sony exclusives for next year - Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War and - while it certainly didn't make as bold an E3 splash it will assuredly come into play for most anticipated and GOTY chatter - Persona 5.

Oh, man. So well deserved. This game is going to be huge.

Last Nintendo console I owned was the N64. Gotta have the NX, even if it's just for Zelda.

Oh yeah Persona 5 is up there for me, so many good Japanese games this E3.

Nioh,GR2,Persona 5,Nier,Zelda and so much more

Dude! A PARRY is in the game!?

Actually, I guess I shouldn't be surprised since it was technically also in Skyward Sword but it definitely was more of a shield bash and that animation looks closer to how Dark Souls' parry animation looks.

Hnngh this game is like Mario 64-levels of character moves (I'm referring to how Mario had all these optional moves to traverse the large levels)! It's ridiculous!

It looks like a fantastic game but one game is not going to turn the NX into a success.

Trust me, I know how you feel about Skyward Sword. But Breath of the Wild is the best game Nintendo has ever shown, and maybe the best showing a game has ever had as E3. That's why it's going to win most game of the show awards, and not because Nintendo showed little else.
