The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is IGN's Game of the Show for E3 2016

Deserved! I was captivated by the visuals, music and gameplay during the reveal and subsequent footage. A promisingly beautiful instalment in the series.

Yep. Obviously.

Only game that comes close is NieR Automata.

While I don't see the game breaking all time record sales, it being available on the NX with little improvements like 1080p, rock solid 60fps, and a little big of graphical enhancements could go a long way on alleviating the launch drought period.

If I wouldn't be too forward, a Splatoon and Bayonetta 1/2 enhanced port would also be a nice companion game to sell the NX system with.

I'm surprised this is getting more fanfare the GOW, but I'm suspecting GOW will be limited in terms of exploration due to the "take care of kid" mechanic...

Considering that Aonuma has recently confirmed that the NX version will have different graphics but the experience will be the same. This is a good indication that the next time we see this game, it will be the NX version with improved visuals...

Did he actually say that?

Dude! A PARRY is in the game!?

Actually, I guess I shouldn't be surprised since it was technically also in Skyward Sword but it definitely was more of a shield bash and that animation looks closer to how Dark Souls' parry animation looks.
Bouncing enemy attacks goes all the way back to Link to the Past in SNES. Waiting for attacks to counterattack is all what OoT is about.

All the big games seem to be getting a lot of buzz actually. I'm sure Gow will get some game of e3 awards from some sites horizon already got one and Zelda will get plenty more. What a great time to be a gamer

I don't think that's going to happen. I think the NX will be pushed back.

Considering its existence is confirmed but a huge mystery, it wouldn't be "pushed back" because we never got a date. Same thing for Neo and Scorpio, though MS did dig themselves into a hole by announcing specs and a release schedule, so yes, Scorpio could be pushed back.

Game of the show, and most of what Nintendo showed was the game's learn-it-yourself tutorial area. Impressive.

My hunch? This is the game that guarantees NX doesn't turn-in a GameCube/Wii U-tier market presence.

Without a doubt. It's not exactly Nintendoland.

Look at those idiots and middle schoolers losing their shit in the comment section at IGN, lmao. "Great for kids who can't play Witcher 3 yet." lmao

I'd say Nintendo's back, but they never left.

Amen.

A lot of Gaming Side underestimates the power of the Nintendo brand and their franchises. They are not going anywhere.

If this is the hype for just Zelda imagine when Nintendo holds their own event for NX, Apple style.

This is a sincere reply, not a thread-crap, but I genuinely don't see what people are seeing from this demo. Based on past Zelda's, I'm sure it'll be a great game and I totally love the art style, but those are things I knew before E3 and what they showed here just didn't do anything for me. I guess I'm the only one who saw this and just thought "Ok... open-world, but it just looks like Zelda".

It's so nice to see Nintendo nail it after a few years of stumbling. Not that their game output has been bad during the Wii U's cycle, but they've been failing to strike a chord with the public for a bit and I'm hoping this is the first step into a successful launch for the NX.

If you honestly can't see the differences, I don't know what to tell you.

Really good showing by Zelda but Nintendo will have to knock it out of the park several more times with their first party stuff before I consider picking up an NX. I'm talking a Metroid game as great in quality as Zelda and a few other games. Just shoving Smash or Mario Kart on the system isn't going to do it anymore.

That said I'd probably give my game of the show to something like Nier Automata, that's far more my style than the sandbox stuff. I'm always hesitant when a game tries to see itself on emergant gameplay.

So much nuance in interactions with things.
The developers probably didn't even know you could do some of that shit.

Not for nothing, but I wouldn't say it's my best in show. I'd say there are a ton of other games, like For Honor, God of War, Horizon, RE7, and Days Gone that have many of the same features, and just plain and simple will look better and have better presentation.

Um probably not. I mean why would they do that? Also, when TP was released, the gamecube version was pushed back 2 or 3 weeks lol.

This game is as close to a lock for NX launch as it gets.

I'd also like to know.

All I've seen is people reading between the lines for article hits. I thought he was asked if there would be any difference between versions, to which he responded that they would be the same experience. This is turned into a headline "Zelda to be identical on NX says Aonuma" . :-|

I'm still skeptical because I'm not a fan of the last two main entries, but yes this game deserves it over most every other game on display at E3. I was originally going to wait and see if the game is worth buying an NX for, but now I NEED it as soon as possible.

Later this year and early 2017 have some great games to make the wait worth it at least.

I understand what you mean but Kart and Smash were hardly "shoved out."

Lots of amazing games shown but I don't mind this choice. Made me go from not caring about NX that much to really hoping nintendo doesn't screw up.

Does your Zelda have Gravity Gun Style puzzles? Does your Zelda literally have Za Warudo? Does your Zelda have a loot system and tons of enemy interactions? Does your Zelda have Overworld bosses ready to kick your teeth in att a moments notice? Does your Zelda have a freaking dedicated jump button and decently nuanced climbing mechanics (For Once in an open world game with climbing mechanics)?

There are like 2 generations of game design advancements present in this than over the previous 3D Zelda games, yet the core experience is still perfectly Zelda. Dunno what to tell you man.

Nintendo has always been good at making games, and making damn good games. The problem, at least for the latter two generation is getting third party companies to fill in the holes between these amazing games and getting its console owners to buy them.

Will the NX out do the Wii U and be a big seller? it is possible, especially if they do something like enhanced ports of Wii U classics for those who didn't buy a Wii U. Having this amazing Zelda Day 1 will at least be a vote of confidence for the system the same way Twilight Princess was a vote of confidence for the Wii, and a thank you letter to the GameCube fans,
