I understand not wanting to pay for the whole set for one figure, but a lot of the 'hard to find' minifigs other than special editions usually end up coming in stock. Maybe I'm an optimist or just a tight-ass.

And the set looks like a lot of fun. But dat front gate. WOW. The minifig guard statues are awesome, but I love using the little arms to hold two fence pieces together to make it taller. Genius.

Hrm, damn wish it was $289. It's weird, at $289 it's a no brainer, but at $318, I have to think about it. Odd what a difference $30 makes here. $289 is I'll never see it that cheap again, I have to get it now where as $318 is, maybe I can get it that cheap again, I shouldn't be spending that money at the moment.

Dont look at it as being $30 more than it was for a brief time. Look at it being $82 off its normal price.

You save $80 now doing it, as opposed to saving $40 later from the VIP points. I say order it, and then return whichever one had the worse box to the Lego store.
How much did you pay for the other one? $400 (plus double-VIP), so essentially $360?
I say keep it - you got a box in excellent condition, and there is no telling what shape it will come in from Walmart.
EDIT: Or do what Phonciple said - but if the box is in bad shape I don't think the Lego store will take it back.

I look at it as 20% off which I think is still a possibility of obtaining in the future. I also still have a large chunk of VIP points to redeem if I need to at the Lego store so I could get just about 20% off plus more VIP points in the process. I try to spread out my purchases and the reality is I shouldn't buy this until the end of the year to keep my spending in check, but could cave it it got cheap enough. $289 is that that threshold.

Seriously though the day I said I was collecting mini figs was like an awakening. You realise 90% of the sets you would have bought were only for the mini figs. Buying them off brick link individually and allowing you you free up you money to go towards the cool display models.

BAH! Even if I get multiple sets at once, I still power through the builds because I am too excited to build. None of this dragging it out stuff! I build something, then at the end I am like Agent Smith: "MORE!"
That would be a BIG logistical nightmare. But fun at the same time. Not to mention it would take forever. That Fire Brigade/Town Hall combo build was hard enough to find space for. Now double that? *shudders* Give me time and I will probably do it though.

When doing a set fresh, I just have a container for each bag. When doing rebuilds or time lapse, I have a container for piece types. Meaning I have a container for nothing but tiles (no studs), and a container for all the 1x1 pieces (round or square). One for all the 1x2 bricks, but with the 1x4 bricks mixed in. If I am mixing pieces I make sure it is three or so different types that can easily be identified by just glancing. Basically mix a bin with 1x2, 1x4, and 1x6. Then another bin gets 1x3, angle pieces, and 1x8. Cuts down on containers and still gives me some organization.
The issue with trying that with 10k pieces is simply how many containers it would take, and then the footprint of four large baseplates as well. The more I talk about it, the more I wanna do it.
I got two things from watching this video.

I refined the sorting and storage with the Death Star time lapse. Less containers, easily stackable. Creates smaller footprint.

I have no idea why they dropped the price; it hasn't come back in stock at all today or yesterday at Walmart (I've been auto-refreshing there), and it certainly wasn't this price as of an hour or so ago. I went ahead and picked one up at this price though, would rather get the guaranteed $40 savings then take a chance at Walmart not getting it back.
Edit: Down to two in less than a minute, go right now if you want it!
Edit 2: Shows OOS, but you can still order it at $159.99 and it says it'll be in-stock on October 13th. My order also shows that my estimated delivery date is October 12th which is also kinda weird (I have Prime). I'm in no rush, and this works out since I can still cancel it in the next day or two in case Walmart gets it back. Also since it's still up (at least for now) anyone who wants it can still jump on it!
