Screw you LEGO package makers, I almost bought the old one when I saw it for $120.

I have both!

Amazon has 3 Town Hall's left at $160 right now!

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007GEMQ2I/?tag=neogaf0e-20

I have no idea why they dropped the price; it hasn't come back in stock at all today or yesterday at Walmart (I've been auto-refreshing there), and it certainly wasn't this price as of an hour or so ago. I went ahead and picked one up at this price though, would rather get the guaranteed $40 savings then take a chance at Walmart not getting it back.

Edit: Down to two in less than a minute, go right now if you want it!

Edit 2: Shows OOS, but you can still order it at $159.99 and it says it'll be in-stock on October 13th. My order also shows that my estimated delivery date is October 12th which is also kinda weird (I have Prime). I'm in no rush, and this works out since I can still cancel it in the next day or two in case Walmart gets it back. Also since it's still up (at least for now) anyone who wants it can still jump on it!

They are pricematching Target. Target.com has a lot of sets at 20% off.

Wish I had remembered that Target sale. They had the one Sith Old Republic Ship on sale for a decent price but...well Lego has that double VIP thing going on so I'll just save my moolah for there. I like the Frankenstein set but it felt like it should be a bit cheaper...now only to get the Haunted House and the Zombies set and I'll have all the Monster Fighters!

I don't get this. Target = 20% off now, or 25% off if you have their Red Card while Lego is 10% off that is applied at a later date and time. Why wouldn't you take the bigger savings?

Stacking those little discounts adds up quickly, especially since you only need to buy 50 bucks worth of sets to get the 5 buck discount this month.

Ha, that's weird- those pieces used to be hollow studs. Not sure oif this is an accident or they've all gone this way.

Eitherway, the few times i've had to contact the Lego Customer Helpline they've been awesome at replacing missing/wrong parts- give em a phone.

Oh no kidding about their excellent customer service. :) We had one of our pieces replaced thanks to them.

Its just that bizarre that I had to post a photo of it.

The best part about buying sets is getting more parts than what's shown in the manual. It's more rarer than getting sets with missing parts. Best one for me was a spare cape for the Elf Archer in minifig S3. Second best was a spare minifig head for the Grand Emporium.

But you still generally are saving more by buying the discounted items than what you get with the points.... double points are nice, but you still need a ton to get any decent savings

Oh weird, I knew Target was having their 20% off sale, but the modular stuff wasn't listed as being included. Not complaining though!

Also I can't remember who it was, but several pages back someone said if you placed a Walmart.com order if the price lowered within 7 days they would adjust and refund you. I just managed to get a refund of the difference on Grand Emporium that I paid $111 for from them lol. Unforutnately overnight their OOS price on it went from ~$81 to ~$90 so I'm only getting $12 and some change back, but it's hard to complain.

Edit: Yeah, only the Town Hall is listed on sale on Target.com, none of the other modulars are . Weird. Also weird that Amazon will let you place orders now at the discounted price that will ship later. They generally don't do that, and haven't done that for any of these other price match/sales going on the past week or so. Also weird.

are we sure about free shipping form lego as of the 15th?

The lego employee mentioned that to me (as well as double points) when I was in the store grabbing a b-wing, but I'm still not sure without it being in writing on their website. I'm holding off on a couple things for either a Walmart restock, or the free shipping.

I finally took the plunge and picked up the Millennium Falcon. Cannot wait to start building this thing.

If anyone missed out, I will have a second Minecraft LEGO set due to a slight hiccup in the LEGO ordering process. I don't even know...BUT! I'll be likely trying to unload it for normal price to LEGO GAF (what I paid with shipping and tax rather than hilariously OP eBay and Amazon).

I keep a separate bag just of the extra pieces I get in sets. It has a lot of Technic pins. Shelob Attacks was a great set because it included 2 extra One Rings, 1 extra Sting, and 1 extra arm for Gollum (along with the normal bonus Cheese Slopes, etc).

It's more rare to get extra parts? Seems like I never get any missing parts but always get extra ones.

Also am I the only one who hates extra parts? It drives me nuts thinking I missed something and then I start going over it again to see if I didn't see something.

My theory was they always add some small extra parts.. the ones you are bound to lose or something haha. It is always the tiny round thingies or extra little flowers :P

They include extra's of the small parts because they weigh the sets for accuracy and small parts are too light. It's better to include extra, rather than have missing parts.

There is a gizmodo article with a Q & A from Lego: http://gizmodo.com/5019797/everything-you-always-wanted-to-know-about-lego

For how long are they going to release new star wars sets? Let them die already and move on. I don't care about ucs star wars but I would kill for another set of ucs. Like lotr or the hobbit.

Seeing as it's been one of their top selling lines for years, it ain't going anywhere until the sale drop considerably or the renewal license becomes crazy expensive. Star Wars is not stopping Lego from doing UCS like sets for other things like LOTR, they have released just as complex if more so sets for other genres, it's just Star Wars that uses that label.

Yeah let's get more sets made based on characters that walked all across the land!

Zomg, I think I've come up with the ultimate SNOT technique. It's an exactly one block tall cylinder which has a stud hole on both ends.

Also it allows merging any two bricks studs-to-studs, so you have holes from both sides of the resulting construct, and the studs go completely one to another.

I'll make a photo, but what I'm using is the piece from the probably completely forgotten Lego "click-it" series, which was some kids jewelery thing from what I can see. I'm just using clickits ring to plug the brick studs into both sides. I imagine I can't really be the inventor of this, but I did come up with the idea on my own :P

This is the part, I think: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=clikits003 I got a few of those as a present for a larger bricklink order.

Star Wars works because vehicles sell, and I kinda hate lego lotr/hobbit, as it killed Castle.

I have both!

Makes me want to build the full set and sit them next to each other like matroska dolls.

The only thing stopping Lego from doing other themed UCS sets is that they would be cannibalising their own market. There's only so many people that will buy a £300 set and the crossover with Star Wars and the walking trilogy is too great.

Started building tower bridge with my wife and already we are missing pieces. We should have gotten 12 1x2 grey that is like a figure 8 shape brick. Instead we only got 8. Missing 4. I have gone thought the grey bricks 3 seperate times. Nothing. Guess ill have to contact Lego /sigh.

:( to missing bricks.

At least you have several hundred tan cheese slopes.

Yeah, Tower Bridge was my only set so far the had missing pieces. In fact, had to order new parts twice :/

Were you trying to build both towers at once? If so, you can at least build one for now while waiting on the pieces. If the missing pieces were for the bridge parts, you don't really need that until 3/4 done with the towers and you join them.

My wife was building one and I was building the other. Its part number 4550325 which is a base piece of one tower. Shes missing 1 and I need 3. I already ordered them from Lego. Just gonna wait.

I did however have an idea while on the replacement site. It has a lost piece request. What is stopping me from going through and basically ordering a full Green grocer piece by piece? Would that work?

He takes the two halves of the main wing of the B-wing and touches them together, mirror opposites of each other. They fit perfectly together, like peanut butter and jelly... Batman and Robin... the Captain and Tenille. After applying SNOT to keep the halves together, he affixes the finished wing to the main engine section and reverently places the half-completed B-wing gently on the shelf. Unable to pry his gaze away from his creation, he slips into his smoking jacket and lights up a cigarette. He slowly backs into and sinks into his Corinthian leather recliner, a single bottle of Dos Equis waiting on the end table. He takes a long, deliberately drawn out drag from the cigarette, savoring its invigorating warmth washing through his lungs. He still cannot take his eyes off of the partial B-wing. It is glorious. A single tear trails down his cheek. Only one. And then the inhaled smoke gently shoots out of his mouth, exhaling the smoke and his Freudian-like intensity in one glorious breath. He can now stop for the evening. But there is still more to do. Much more. Tomorrow. Tomorrow...

P.S. - I don't really smoke.
P.P.S. - Or drink.
P.P.P.S. - I did just finish about half of the B-wing though.
P.P.P.P.S. - I liked it.

Larger orders through the replacement parts service get treated essentially like Pick a Brick orders, so you'll get charged per piece at a rate (usually) higher than Bricklink or other avenues. Also, they don't always have all of the bricks they list through replacement parts, especially the rarer ones, so they'll deny requests for parts that aren't in production. They won't send certain parts out without showing a proof of purchase, either, like licensed sticker sheets and printed pieces.

BTW, Calm Killer: the mini figs showed up today. Thank you. Series 8 is complete.

EDIT: Well, the red beam piece on the robot was missing. No big deal. I usually detach them anyways.

Hurts the resale value..

Is it in good shape otherwise, though?

Sounds like it.

The thing is the Death Star (being the large set that it is) comes from LEGO in an individual dropship box (which is very sturdy), so they must have pulled it out from its protective box to ship it.

Exactly why it sucks. So glad the one I got from the Lego store had the outer box with a pristine regular box inside. Of course, I will probably never resell my sets. Too much nostalgia.

My box is also in ridiculously good condition. Best box I've ever received, really. But buying it from the LEGO store will do that I guess, haha. They brought it out from the back. I felt envy in the children's eyes (and got glares from the older folk).

Whatever, I can afford it like a boss. B-)

That box looks like my Robie House box. Also, I didn't realize Walmart could ship like that...
