the haunted house is awesome and all, but i was a little bored so i digitally pimped it a little

I added lego 4191 (pirates of the carribean), ghost clock polybag, a couch and kitchen furniture from lego friends and the organ from the vampire caste to the interior design - a cool looking organ is TOTALLY missing from this set!
Still anyone holding out for weathertop? Because now it's even cheaper than yesterday... Attack on Weathertop (9472) -- 25% off @ $44.95
Feel for his laptop. It'll feel like a smooth 2x2 flat plate. Feel for the handle of his mug for another confirmation.
i found him by feeling for his c:\ cup, about the size of a head but with a handle. t'was easy.
Cup is the best. Laptop is also better, but it's flat, could get stuck between instructions. Cut is better.
nice. now if only B&N had the great shipping and no-tax that amazon has :/ because that is pretty amazing. thanks for the notice! They are installing a Target near me, so hopefully soon I can start picking up some of their specialsAmazon is actually pricematching Barnes and Noble. You can get it cheaper over there with a coupon code.

Target also has the Imperial Shuttle for $199
I used to be huge into legos as a kid/young teen, even had the very first Mindstorm set. I knew they were coming out with these LOTR sets and just thought it might be cool and nostalgic to get a couple sets and then while browsing them saw these Monster Fighter sets and even geeked out enough to look at some youtube reviews of the sets. They look pretty cool, especially that Ghost Train set.
then I started seeing the prices for these sets and wow, I really can't afford to pick this up as a hobby at these prices for something that would just sit on my shelf. I'm thinking of maybe picking up that LOTR Shelob attacks set because its cheap, has a cool looking spider and comes with Frodo, Samwise and Gollum and ring.

It's pretty shocking how expensive they've actually become. I was watching a review on the new gungan sub which is going to be $69.99 (reportedly), and the reviewer went on to mention that the original gungan sub, which had about 100 fiewer pieces, was $25 when it came out in 1999. So prices have more than doubled in that time! It's actually close to 2.5x
That's not to say you can't find some great deals if you are patient and look around. You can get almost any set for 25% off or more with the right timing. If you are less patient, 10 or 15% sales are pretty common.
A few of the cooler sets, like Shelob, make great display pieces if you don't want to break the bank. It's a very iconic scene that would be a welcome addition to any Tolkien fan's shelf
None of the LOTR sets really grabbed me.
I'd kill to see a UCS Minas Tirith though... even if it ended up costing $500+

I think we all would love a UCS Minas Tirith. I would redo my entire home to house a massive UCS of it.
I don't know why, but I just imagined building a massive Lego Minas Tirith set as a sort of bed frame.
Great work phonciple
If you want to add more bling to the front I would suggest adding the handle bar things from over the windows o under the cafe sign, then you can light the sign from below.
but damn, if they had the space needle, i would've gone with that no doubt

Needle looks cool, as do most of the architecture sets, but for that price per brick they're just not worth it.
Tip - don't buy used Lego that ships assembled. I just opened my emerald night, looking forward to building it, and it was already built. I hadn't realised when I bought it. It's a very disappointing feeling. I've broken down the engine to rebuild, but it's a bit strange having already had it in my hands.
I guess it'd be ok if you could get someone else to break it down for you.
sold my bricklinked UCS falcon and broke even. I didn't have the space to display it, so it was a fun life experience. The guy that got it was super excited to add it to his UCS Star Wars collection, so that's nice too.
Now I've got some cash to burn at the Charlotte Lego store. I've been eyeing the VW bus hard.
Just got the B&N 30% off coupon for signing up my son for the kid's club. Now, I wonder what set "he" would like? I'm thinking either the Superman giant robot or Batman/Joker helicopter.
gah, getting the Helm's Deep set for $106 was to good to pass up. Now I just need that Uruk-Hai set and I'll have them all.
Have any details on the UCS B-Wing been released yet?

Price per brick is mainly a consideration for MOCers.i never considered the bricks/price aspect. like, ever, when it comes to picking sets. maybe as a tie breaker criteria, but defin not a primary thing.
i just thought the space needle looked cool and really really looked like the space needle. plus it's mostly funky pieces and not normal bricks and would make an for an interesting, albeit short, build.

Thanks, yeah. I'm not really feeling the LOTR sets, hopefully the new City Miner and Monster Fighter ones start to appear.Hold off a week or so. They should be getting all the LOTR sets in this week or next.

Very interesting. Do you know where that picture was taken?
