Could. The. Sopwith. Be. Any. Bigger?

Fuck me, though. Hands-down the best $110 I've spent on Lego; parity with the US for once! Such an amazingly beautiful set. It is huge, though. Displaying is an issue. I am toying with the idea of hanging it somehow, but I don't know how I feel about nearly 900 pieces suspended in the air...
The Sopwith is GREAT, one of the sets I am now most likely to mention to anyone looking for LEGO recommendations.

I finished the VW camper van, and apart from the goddamn stickers, it was a fun build. The front half of the roof has some poor stability when building it, so I guess they don't want you taking it off to show off the front of the vehicle.

I kind of want to look into color swapping the red though. Nothing really looked uncommon, but you know how lego pieces on bricklink are.

Next trip to the lego store might finally be when I get one of the POTC ships, since they're never on clearance around here. Target even has both of them at $119. I like the little free sopwith camel they gave me, so I might get the big one too.

It's pretty fragile over all. Every time someone has come to my house and handled it and it has need some slight repairs afterwards. It always impresses though. The window stickers are completely unnecessary.

Contrary to what I previously said I bought Attack on Weathertop yesterday. Despite complaining about it's small size the cozy nature of the set is kinda endearing. I don't understand why the separate section was necessary. Surely adding more bricks to the main structure would have been more useful. Ditto to the interior details - the set looks poor opened up.

The PAB stuff comes from Poland, so it took like a month when I got some. Their customer service deliveries are much faster for some reason.

Took close to a month the last time I ordered parts from them

Hahaha, I hope you're a patient person...

Thanks, everyone! That helps, even though the wait kinda sucks.

I actually ordered thru Customer Service, so we will see how it goes. Will post when the orders arrive.

Also has anyone else been missing some bricks lately? My Attack on Weathertop set was missing the long smooth green piece (the picture only has one, it's meant to be two :() and my Camper Van was missing a single stud while block. Not happy. Being in Australia I can't be assed asking for replacements.

lego is never wrong!

If you're considering getting a PotC ship, get the Queen Anne's Revenge. One of the best sets I've ever assembled, it's just awesome. Definitely the best pirate ship, but I never got the Imperial Flagship. Get it before it's gone!!

yeah, it looks nice, but I don't know if I'll keep it. I hated the stickers but got most of them on well. The one that bummed me out was getting all the way to the end and botching the VW badge sticker. That was one of the last things to do and I fucked it up. Now it's all creased and shitty looking. I don't know how Lego does replacement stickers, especially for something that's licensed like this.

I don't like paying $120 and having to apply stickers. I'm never going to buy another set with two sheets of stickers again. It's lazy.

Haha. Man, I don't feel your pain, per se, but I was shitting myself with the VW logo sticker; definitely the most important of the lot. I actually nailed the crap out of it, but I bungled the back stickers (took them off completely) and applied the front window sticker *slightly* askew, but nothing noticeable.

If there's a Lego store in Seattle I should just make a trip over there sometime - there's a ferry that goes there, I hop in my car and go. And if I buy a few larger sets I'll save enough money with the US discount and lack of shipping to compensate for the cost of the ferry in the first place.

Maybe later this year when I've saved up some extra cash for my Grand Emporium.

There's a brand new Lego store in Alderwood Mall for you to try. Was just there yesterday.

Opinions? Tossing up whether to bite. I really dig the main model and the F1 car.

I got it for about 50% off a few months ago and it is a fun build. The main car is fun to build, but I wasn't a big fan of it's overall look. The F1 car looks a lot better IMO.

It's WAY bigger than I thought it was going to be, though. I took it apart for space/spare parts after a while. I still haven't tried making the 3rd build for it.

I really want to avoid getting into the modulars. I have seen videos of multiples pieced together and they are BIG. I love it, but I can't commit to the space requirements :(

Fire brigade is $10 off on amazon today, btw.
All the modulars were in stock and $10 off on Amazon yesterday. Funnily, I bought the fire brigade online, spent another $70 at the LEGO store and $150 on sunglasses in Downtown Disney and Chase fraud alert called me up to confirm the purchases. Haha, too much LEGO made them think my card was stolen instead of being on vacation.

Holy shit, same here. I was at Downtown Disney Lego store on Thursday and about a minute after I bought my stuff I got a call from Wells Fargo fraud alert. Of course it would look strange that one charge on Tuesday for $30 in CT followed by a $400 charge in Florida.

It's a great build and the moving parts are well done. The only down side is the lack of drive but it's easily modded for full RC.

Agreed. I have 2 of this set...one is built, the other is going to be the B model for now. Really awesome set, but very challenging to line the gears up right. My A model doesn't work exactly right becuse a gear is misaligned somewhere lol

I saw them setting up a Lego Friends stand in Trafalgar Square yesterday. The event today and tomorrow is to promote the London West End, but I might stick my nose into their tent as well if I go tomorrow.

Not sure if it's out there, but our store is being told all the new Star Wars and other sets are coming in on the 23rd of July. So mark your calendars.

Just got back from a 4 hour long ordeal at the grand opening of the Alderwood Mall LEGO Store in Washington, but it was all worth it.

My haul:

Me and my friend got there 2 hours early only to find out they are giving away tickets to get into the store in groups. We got into group 8 which was pretty damn worrying. We didn't get into the store until about 1:30. I got the 5th to last LEGO Store set (cut it WAY TOO CLOSE!). Groups groups 1-7 were probably people who weren't able to get into the store yesterday and got a ticket for today.

It was pretty great though, they had a ~6ft or so model of Yoda that was half finished and they had about 5 people in Star Wars cos-play to take pictures with (Storm Trooper, tie fighter pilot, Boba Fett, a different Boba fett type dude, and a Boba Fett type lady).

The store is great, but it's kinda funny since now I have 2 LEGO Stores roughly 30-40 minutes from where I live. Neither of them is really any closer than the other, haha.

Haha, we might have run into each other unknowingly. That store is crazy busy with the kiddies but it's nice to see more of the larger sets (all the modulars, executor Star Destroyer.)

My Lego backlog. I did just put together the garbage truck and ambulace so my girls would have something to play with tonight. The vehicles are both great. They took about 20 minutes each and both have a lot of playability. I got them on sale for 15$ each and I will keep my eyes open for the other sets for sure! Tomorrow I will tackle the modulars.

I am also repairing and putting away onto shelves the sets my girls have been playing with for about 2 weeks. I have a ton of loose pieces and need to figure out what goes where. I am not looking forward to it at all.

I was in there about 130pm on Thursday. If you saw a guy with a buzzed head taking forever at the pick a brick wall because he was like a kid in the candy store, that was me. I was also the guy leaving the store with a massive cardboard box with handles strapped to it. My virgin Death Star.

Now, I have a 13 hour drive back home on Sunday. Monday I begin the build.

Remember to organize properly.

1 bin for 3500 small parts. 1 bin for 1500 large parts.

Still 35~40% done with the 8070 Super Car. This will be hell separating the pieces. I'm looking online for build guides to motorize it but there are no 'proper' instructions.

Looking forward to this when it comes out....

Yeah, really looking forward to this. I'm most intrigued to see how they motorized a vehicle correctly.

And I think someone at Eurobricks has done it for the Supercar. I'd check there first!

Day one whenever that is. Might look at combining it with 8070 Super Car, 8081 Extreme Cruiser & 9394 Jet Plane to see what monster I can build.

Looks like they just stick a motor on each axle, which is good for a crawler, and they are introducing a new servo motor for steering, which was always an issue with DIY RC lego

I should probably pick up 9394 in the interim. I want to grab one of the two flagship sets that are out right now, but I don't know how useful they'd be in terms of building RC cars...

And I agree - the servo motor looks awesome!

Am I the only one who thinks LEGO RC cars are just not the best idea? I mean, don't the pieces fall off or come apart if you hit it into something (which happens A LOT with RC cars, at least, if you are trying to have any fun :p)

They aren't meant to be treated like hobby cars as much as they're supposed to be able to drive around. :)

I noticed I received an email from Lego informing that there's a sale going on in their stores (I assume this is for the UK). Anyone know if it is worth the trip to one's local?

Just scored the Creator Lighthouse (5770) for 50% off the NZ retail price. Can't wait for it to get here, the boys are going to love it.
