GIFS!

Edit: 0:50 is gif worthy, the rest is old.

Are there any spoilers? I've only seen the very first gameplay reveal. Not even the extended version. I've seen no story trailers either.

Yeah then don't watch it, it shows parts of the story trailer and E3 demo.

Not that I could see. Mostly what we've seen before. The extended gameplay trailer, various stages of rendering passes with static models of Drake, lots of interviews with staff. A bit on mocap with the scene with Drake and Sam.

I'll just listen to it then lol.

Also I had never seen that pic posted above with the quote....

There is a timeline where this game wasn't delayed and I am playing it right now instead of watching 20 identical, masturbatory Making Ofs.

I'm a little irked at the comment of "We've created environments that are 10x or larger than the size previously" and then in the next breath talk about how there's still a point A to B...just maybe 3 paths instead of one. That's like 2007 Medal of Honor Airborne "innovation" to a tired game experience. Doesn't really sound that impressive, but I guess the DNA of an Uncharted game is always going to be a playable rollercoaster.

PS: I have never played an Uncharted game (didn't own a PS3), has there been any word on the approachability to the story for someone that's never played one? I tried the demo of the Uncharted Collection on PS4, but it felt too dated for me to trod through 3 games worth of content to just get caught up on lore.

Grab the collection. The games are extremely character-driven and having a cumulative knowledge of these personalities is vital to appreciating it fully.

Otherwise it's just a(n extremely well-written) setpiece TPS.

These games are pretty much interchangeable in terms of story. What I mean by that is you can play them in whatever order you want. They are all self contained adventures. There's no lore to get really. The first game is certainly dated in gameplay. Try Uncharted 2 instead, it's much much better.

For someone who just listened and didn't actually watch....dat music. Omg.

I'm gonna love this game!!

And to the person that said "3 different ways to get from A to B is not innovative" it is for an uncharted game cause it's never had that before.

The games were already some of the best of last gen, and now with explorable areas...whew! Gonna be awesome!!

i'm glad it's not open world...jesus we have enough of those tired experiences as it is. uncharted is a linear, impeccably paced series. leaving you to aimlessly wander around a 2 square mile landscape kinda goes against that.

the game best not have a day 1 patch though. they went gold so early i'm worried it will.

Kinda odd that they still using footage from the old psx build when it seemingly got a large overhaul visually. Otherwise lots of good info in there.

Uncharted games are not open world experiences despite them incorporating a more open design to their level layouts in UC4 and have made no attempts to convince anyone of anything else. This is the same style of UC we have gotten from them in the past but without the shackles of the PS3 holding them back and is also a love letter to the franchise as its their last game in the series for the foreseeable future. They aren't going to turn it into something its not for their final outing with Drake.

As to the how approachable of the story its basically Indian Jones in modern times so its pretty pulpy but doesn't take much at all to get into it. They aren't dealing with anything too heavy or obtuse, its a lot of adventures across the globe in all kinds of exotic locations that involve gun fights, mystery/puzzle solving and a bit of exploration.

There are story beats that carry from game to game, mostly Drake's relationship to his father figure Sully and his on again, off again girlfriend Elena.

Also if you think the gameplay of the first 3 UC games is dated you might not care for UC4 as its building on what those games did rather than reinventing the wheel.

I haven't been this hype for a game in a while. My first play through is probably going to take forever. Due to me wanting to explore as much as I can on every level.

Preach.

I hope ND never creates an open world game to be honest. It's such an overstuffed environmental design in the AAA market now, and in a way games like Uncharted 4 feel like the antidote to Ubisoft's formula-laden series of checklists and towers and upgradable stats and collectables and so on.

It may have been done in 2007, but it has rarely been done since. Non-open world games have become increasingly linear due to the sheer cost of creating assets since last gen.

Almost every game at this point has a day 1 patch. And indeed the fact there's one month and half between gold and release date makes it almost certain.

Btw yeah Uncharted doesn't need to be open world. The approach of using large areas with multiple paths to explore is the best compromise for the gameplay style.
Open world is also abused these days and the result is countless clones with boring missions and fillers.

This is a bit daft but as someone currently playing through UC2 and then UC3 in prep for this game, does this vid do any flashbacks or whatever that'd spoil me? Should I just hold out?
