The press are a fucking disgrace and are absolutely a major problem in why society is the way it is today with their gaslighting victim blaming and straight up blatant agendas that the sheep follow rather than see through, Then there's Justice departments swimming with lenient judges and soft sentencing, Parole boards letting freak shows loose....

I think failure to assert that a hate crime has taken place here ("I got that white girl"), when it would be charged with the races reversed, only helps perpetuate the absurd idea that it's impossible to be racist against white people. This idea that white people are inherently less deserving of racial protections because they are all inherently racially guilty / evil promotes the idea that they are fair game. It has to be pushed back against. If hate crimes are going to exist in the law, they must be applied with an even hand imo.

I think we each have to decide how big that circle is we draw around ourselves, within which we will care about what happens. It doesn't have to encompass the whole world, but it's short-sighted and dangerous to draw it so close that you only decide to care when it's right on top of you. At that point it is usually far too late and your society has turned to shit around you.

They will tell you 'Black' has a capital B because it refers to a shared culture while 'white' does not. If you say "Ok, then 'Black' culture has a serious problem with violence and needs to change", it will then magically switch back to referring to a race so they can call you racist.

Why they would refer to one individual in an article by their race and another individual in the article by their 'culture' is a mystery. Why a black man who spent his entire life in America would be assumed to have a shared culture with, say, a black Ethiopian tourist is also a mystery. The black American would almost certainly share far more culturally with a white American than they would with the tourist.

I don't understand how he isn't dead already. This is one of many reasons why this isnt a serious country. Why bother with the death penalty when they can just execute him now and dump his body in a ditch? Why waste taxpayer money on him? We need to have expedited capital punishment on open and shut cases like this.

And the people responsible for releasing him over and over again need to be punished severely. Judges need to understand that there will be consequences for releasing repeat felons.
 
Death penalty should happen because of what that guy did...but that won't solve the bigger issue here. The amount of people wandering around with mental issues with no support and no place to go.

I made the mistake of watching the full censored video and god damn...what a way to go. Dying alone like a dog in a subway..the girl looked terrified as hell. :(

I think it was revealed recently via company memo that its there new policy for writers to do that (capitalize all referrences to Blacks and use lower case for all refs to whites) until they see a change in "systemic racism" or something like that. I saw somethimg online a month or so ago about it. This isnt there first time doing this.

Where is the annual data? I only see 2019-2024.

Googling it looks like Canada finally started aggregating crime data to show it publicly involving race starting in 2020 as per Statistics Canada articles. In July 2025 they released data comprising of 2019-2024 only. I only see homicide related data charts too.

All I know is when I used to take the bus and subway to university for 4 years, you see the worst people.

It's bad enough it's ultra crowded during rush hour, it can be hot, the train stops for an issue for 15 minutes etc…. All manageable.

It's when you get all the weird people roaming around, drunk guys passed out on a seat and people you can tell just don't work or are druggies. That's the cringey part. Oh ya, and you'll get your share of wanderers walking in every car asking for money person to person. Ya, great ride.

And the cities wonder why people prefer driving cars than spending time taking a subway ride.

I live in the countryside, so I don't have to deal with these things, but with all the traveling I've done in Asia, you would "almost" never see any of this. There are crazies everywhere, sure, but they're usually dealt with quickly, and certainly not given so many chances like this guy. Also drug trafficking in places like china is an automatic death penalty

It's a funny thing because if someone at a job makes a bad call, they are typically fired if there's enough bad results. Or they can get sued if the work the performed is bad.

Yet somehow judges are allowed to escape any fallout from poor judgements and repeat offenders still roaming around.

Figure that out.
 
Curious how the concept of preventable deaths is so crucial when it's about medicating as many people as possible and stripping away freedoms from the people, but not when it's about not letting mentally ill repeat offenders walk free.

Then it's all the more important to fight the small battles and save those we can. It would not have been so difficult in this case and in many others like this. This wasn't a case of mobilizing troops and billions of dollars to save hundreds of thousands of people.
