The new White Stripes record confuses me.

will totally Facebook friend you! *giggle* *LOL*
I've only listened to it once, but blue orchid is easily my favorite on this album, although it's REALLY out of place here. The other stuff isn't exactly...bad...but it's just not what I expected at all. I expected a few more songs that used an electric guitar. It's a good album, but it's just different from what they've done. I'm probably gonna need a few more listens to fully understand the whole album.

My opinion? USED.
It sounds in places almost like the jackson five :lol

Overall its still the stripes.... but they really made this album radio friendly. My fave song is probably Take, Take Take.

I've listened to most of the album once. Red Rain and My Doorbell were the only songs that I really dug on first listen.

I've found that I like each new White Stripes album a little less than the one that came before it. Only White Stripes album I'd think to pop in is self titled. Live shows the same way. If it doesn't start with Lets shake hands/when I hear my name I know I"m not missing anything.

I don't even think I have a local radio station that plays the White Stripes :/

Great album, but only for casual listening.

Of course, I've gotten to the point where I can't listen to any of the Stripes' stuff directly, only when it just comes on. :p

High points of this album? Blue Orchid and Take Take Take... Other songs are good but this album turns out to be softer than Elephant... I think I just point out what might be their next single (with Take Take Take). Other than that, the rest of the album has nothing to do with the first single!

I think the high points are "Forever For Her (Is Over For Me) and "The Denial Twist", but I love the whole thing. Not as strong as Elephant, but a damn good album.

Got it yesterday, had a couple of quick listens. Overall, better than Elephant, imo, much better. And more mature as well. Something about it--they've really captured this essence:

A throwback, playful and pure somehow.

The more I listen to it, the more I can label it this way:

A quality album, very expirimental, with a catchy "Back in the U.S.S.R."-like intro song... It also takes time to like it...

it doesn't sound anything like the white album. even in a conceptual way.
I never said it sounded like the White Album... I said it was a quality album, very experimental... a departure maybe not as radical as other White Stripes' albums, but certainly there...

It's easily there least conventional record. In turn, Elephant was their most conventional. White Blood Cells was maybe their most intense, or frenzied. I also think it was their weakest overall.

1. White Blood Cells
2. Get Behind Me Satan
3. De Stijl
4. Elephant
5. Self-titled

AND THAT'S THE WAY IT IS
