This last episode was decent. Thank god for Guy Branum.
Has anyone seen the episode with Neil DeGrasse Tyson? Worth watching? I love Neil and him taking down CT nuts should be good, I hope...

Haha, to be honest I feel like punching most of the panel guests in general. He was the only okay part. The other two were just stupid and I kind of wanted to punch them.Has anyone seen the episode with Neil DeGrasse Tyson? Worth watching? Just watch it yourself. It's a half hour of your time.
I really like this show personally and they've changed things a bit. Now there are just 3 panelists.

The show is still definitely trying to find it's footing, but slowly is getting there. Post spring break, Larry has seemed a lot more comfortable. His on-air staff are more comfortable. I also expect Larry to experiment more. He had that DeBlasio show a while back. He's done at least one show that went straight to panel. He's ended panel early to get another bit in. The Nightly Show is Larry trying things out and it's been fun so far.
It also helps that most of the comedians Larry has on, I'm very familiar with. It's a lot of New York comics, so I can see why if you don't follow that scene closely, you might not like the panels so much.
They ultimately didn't have much choice either, since Fox is moving forward with a Minority Report series based on the movie.I want to like it more but it still needs a lot of work. I'm not sure what kind of show it's trying to be and I get the feeling they aren't too sure still either. At least when it was called Minority Report that was a gimmick you could latch onto, might have been a bit off putting to some and seem restrictive, but the Nightly Show is just kind of blah.

Not that Colbert was firing on all cylinders when he started but this is really missing the mark so far.
But all problems aside, I think his shows on Baltimore have been nailing it.
I was actually going to bump the thread to say the same thing. Last night was enjoyable from start to finish. I loved it.
By the way, the transgender episode was informative but I hated Jordan Carlos as a panelist. God, was he cringeworthy on the subject of the word tranny being an offensive term.
So I've only watched the show a few times, but does every thing with Larry Wilmore have to be about race? I get that it's a big issue, but every episode I've seen, every story has been race related and it gets tiring.
As someone who has seen every episode, the answer is no. But there has been a lot of current events about race lately, so it wouldn't make sense for him not to address it. Remember the show was originally "The Minority Report". It was always going to cover race, and black culture specifically.
I think he's done a very good job of adressing these issues. He even did a bit about how everyone is always saying what you just said. They are very aware of the shows reputation.
Usually in the opening segment Larry addresses a few different topics, but when you get to the panel, you have to narrow in. And I think Larry is going to talk about the biggest story for their show, which lately is going to be racial issues. Plus being the only black host on late night puts pressure on him to cover those kinds of stories.
And the show is still evolving. The format is not tied down. They don't do keeping it a hundred all that much anymore. They've basically cut the panel down to 3 guests. They've even done episodes with little or no panel. And they've been incorporating more remote segments. And Larry seems far more comfortable already. In a years time who knows what the show will be like.

so, uh... they're trying something new. they moved the discussion from the table to a "lounge" area. i dont know if its better the way they are doing it but without a table seems to be better at least.
weird show, 3 months on and theyre still figuring it out

Interesting. Hope they do figure it out. I like the preference towards minority voices on this show
Well it takes time to figure out the format. Comedy Central's tried this sort of show before and it's failed, so it's not like they have a formula to follow. They not only have to find a voice for the show, but they need to figure out it's structure. They've got a lot more work to do than Colbert did or Noah and The Daily Show writers will.
Is this still bad? I really wish they could just turn this into Black Daily Show.
I don't think it's improving, I lowered my expectations too. Currently just watching to watch, but don't get excited for new episodes like TDS, LWT or TCR(when it was on).well, its slowly improving, or maybe thats because im lowering my expectations.
The subject of the FIFA scandal is interesting, it's just that TNS's writing is so dam amateur(ie. that lame talking.ball.heads segment)😳i still think anything that has to do with race has been the most interesting episodes. Larry talking about FIFA or breast feeding isnt that interesting
Exactly, the writing can make our break the show. I wonder why he didn't keep any of the Colbert writers(?)
Colbert is probably taking them to The Late Show.
Tuesdays episode was fucking awesome. Baltimore update and panel were a blast.
This show has been on an upswing recently. Loved the interview with Lincoln Chafee. Reminded me of Colbert and his interviews with politicians.
