I'll second that, the addition of first person aiming and some other changes make Twin Snakes so much more playable to me over the original.
Alright, I need an opinion on the super monkey ball series. Which is the best on the GameCube?
I prefer it to the original. Kojima fans love to hate me! lol
That's not it whatsoever. I had PS2 and GameCube when that game dropped and I was jazzed to have a Nintendo-exclusive MGS.I own two copies of TTS cause of the label peeling. I think the game is great. The game is hated mostly because it wasn't on PS2.
I sold my copy of Twin Snakes years ago for $40 but regretted it pretty quick.
The re-done voices are bad, the game plays worse than the original, the cutscenes are more dumb in a bad way, there's something about the visuals that make the faces look creepy, but it's like 6 hours long and fun to play through every now and then. There's no reason you can't just play both if you have both.
oh, they redid the voices? i didn;t know that. i was under the impression it was the same audio and they re-did the graphics/game engine to fit in with the same plot/audio. i better check it out now =)
what's wrong with you?!!
jk, actually i own it and never played it. it's strange.. but at the time i wasn't too interesting in a game that i already beat once i found out there's no changes to the voice acting. being a huge metal gear fan i'm surprised i never touched it. i better pop it in.
Super monkey Ball 1 is perfection in terms of easy intermediate hard and expert progression.Alright, I need an opinion on the super monkey ball series. Which is the best on the GameCube?
I thought it was more that they wanted to get the same voice actors to match roles as their later incarnations? Like... Robert Paulsen or something? (I remember that name because of Fight Club)IIRC they did this so that it could support surround sound. Ugh. I'm sure the 5% of people that have surround sound and the 0.2% of people using it with a fucking GameCube in 2004 were really worth butchering the audio over.

It's hated because its definitively non-canonical version of a classic game. The cutscenes have the motivation to be as silly and bullet timey as possible and so they break the reality of the storytelling. And the MGS2 mechanics don't mesh with the MGS1 level and enemy design.
I like it as a curio. But it's not the MGS1 I'd re-play or that I'd tell others to play.
Bought R: Racing Evolution for the PS2 and the terrible analog sticks are driving me up the wall. How is the GC port? All I know is it has an extra mode.
the extra mode is called vs. pacman and its a multiplayer games which is only playable with a gba.
its also a separate disc.
i found the cutscenes a bit over the top but... guys for real:
-a cyborg ninja
-a soldier destroying a tank and a helicopter by himself
-a dude walking around with a super heavy machine gun
-a dude flying around and reading your mind
-how about a guy shooting down 2x F-16's with a hind D? even Mei Ling was impressed
TOO OVER THE TOP. OMG, DONT PLAY THIS GAME. lol
Seriously though if anything TTS brought MGS up more in line with the rest of the series. In MGS3, Snake bullet time shoots a falling piece of building with an RPG, while in a motorcycle. MGS3 is best MGS.
The TTS love is great in this thread. The game is really good. Its only down fall is the weird Wavebird glitch. Snake does a stutter step when using the Wavebird.
You, my friend, absolutely smashed it with the 14 GCs. I like most of these. I have a custom yellow one too, though mine is a brighter shade. Well done for the effort! Where are you based? Would you consider doing something like this as a service?Interesting, will watch later. Always wanted that game I saw a screenshot from on the back of the box the gamecube came in.
Sooo, those 14 gamecube's I was talking about? Well here they are. The white one sadly is a bit busted at the open button; my impatience screwing it all back together got the better of me before letting the paint dry, and I was out of paint to rectify it. So will sand it a little in the future and then paint that little spot again whenever I can get hold of some cheap paint. Anyway, it took me a few days in several weekends; first unscrewing everything and seperate all the parts that needed painting, then painting+letting it dry (except the white one which I did recently seperately), and ultimately putting everything back together. A lot of trouble and will probably think a second time before attempting something similar. Anyway, I think I have most of the standard colours now and, despite the trouble, very pleased with the result. Here they are;
Let me know what you guys think.
Regarding MGS:TTS; my discs are not falling apart which is good because I forgot to make a backup of that game. As soon as that's done though, will replay again. I remember liking it quite alot, esspeccialy the voices (sorry for that purists)![]()
i just starting playing and F-zero GX is freaking awesome. i tried both story mode and a bit of grand prix. wow, it's pretty challenging compared to the snes. the sense of speed is incredible.

Thanks for the kind comments. Unfortunately I will not do this as a service (no time frankly). However, it is absolutely not difficult to do, just buy a decent spray can. Matte or gloss spray paint affects the distance you need to spray from. For example, just spray the parts from a distance of 40cm (15 inches) of you have gloss paint and it will appear matte. Spray in 3-4 layers until the it looks right. The closer the distance the more glossy it will appear. Finish with a little clear coat for protection against dirt and discolouring and you are done. Now, this only is easy if you want a matte finish though. If you want a high gloss finish (like you see on youtube) it requires a lot more work, like sanding. I have done 2 of those in the past (somewhere earlier in this thread) and those easily took 10 times as long due to the (wet) sanding which is extremely tiring. The Lime Green and Yellow ones 👌
Yeah, composite actually looks pretty good on a crt, certainly if you think how all the (analog) video data is just 1 cable (literally). However, you do see some interference and colur bleeding in certain aspects (mostly on letters with a high contrast on the background). I recently tried F-zero GX again on a crt again and while composite looks respectable, rgb looks amazing, so you are in for a good ride. The responsiveniss, clarity, sharpness, contrast, colours and overall punchy picture of a properly calibrated crt is a sight to behold and impresses me, even viewing side-by-side with a modern HDTV, to this day.So hooked my GC up via composite to my crt and hot damn I'm impressed ordering a rgb cable soon

Do you mean Gameboy Player? If so, check Japan. The prices aren't as crazy there. I got one last year (or the year before) at a normal price. My Game Boy has stopped workingnow prices for new ones are through the roof.

Oh cool, yeah the Player, does it work with a Pal disc?
hey all i grabbed this on the way to dinner:
as i shared in a prior post, i really missed the boat during gamecube days and never played any of the beloved nintendo titles (only survival horror, Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil gamecube exclusive titles) so i'm going to try them years later. i still need to pop in Zelda Twilight and the cell shaded one (forgot the name but i have both)
Nice!!! Sunshine is hit or miss with people, but i really liked it. And I'll take Star Wars off your hand if you don't like it. Its the last of the 3 I need to complete my set
I'm very jealous. Why do you always have the coolest stuff?Forgot i had these, found them in a drawer along with my famicom ones. Some cool gamecube merchandise. The cibe & the pad have built in lcd clocks the console one been under the lid which you can open with the eject button, the batteries are long dead though. The games are actually erasers, comes in a tiny replica case with a rubber disk, the detail on the boxes is pretty much 100% accurate.
