THE NORTHMAN - Official Trailer

The man is a fucking genius, so I am looking forward to this a great deal. What a great antidote to the parade of endless CG superhero borefests we're enduring these days.

Definitely feels like I've seen this story play out several times, but sure, the director's good and the visual style is ace. In.

Yep. The plot of an evil uncle betraying his brother and stealing his nephews kingdom has been told many times before. Even in the Viking setting with the Last Kingdom.

I'll check it out. It may not be an original story, but the journey should be entertaining.

I mean, name an original basis for a story at this point in our species' civilisation.

Go on then.

I think you're missing the point. I don't have a problem with it being a revenge tale, but the basis of the revenge could be more original. This concept of an evil uncle taking his nephew's kingdom has been done from the Lion King to the Last Kingdom.

Fuckin' A. Eggers is two for two on some of the best films of the last decade for me. Looks fantastic.

Vikings in a scifi setting?
Been done already. Wasn't bad.

Oh hell yeah. I actually stopped the trailer because I'm sold and don't want anything more spoiled

Hmm, what are the odds that every single frame of action was shown in that trailer? Hope not.

Looks to have a least some Valkyrie/Gods elements, which I like.

What's the over/under on Nicole Kidman having orchestrated her husband's murder?

Go on then.

A viking raids a town and discovers tacos. Realizing that tacos have not yet made it to his village, he makes it his life goal to open the first taco shop in town. His business becomes extremely popular, but Odin wants a piece of the pie and opens a bigger, more corporate taco shop (that also serves burritos).

looks pretty good. ive been waiting since 2015 for a revenge movie with the same grittiness and tone as THE REVENANT (in my mind a masterpiece)

Looks great. I also liked his previous films, so looking forward to it.

Makes me sad to think about the cancelled (?) Mel Gibson Viking-project.
