The NX Prediction / BSpeculation / Fanxiety Thread

All things considered, Nintendo probably WANTS to reveal the NX before the Investor Meeting.

I mean, it makes sense, right?

I'd think so, yes.

At the very least they want to announce when they will reveal the NX before the investor meeting, because "Where's the NX?" will most definitely be a question.

If Nintendo doesn't unveil the NX before the investors meeting, I really hope the investors grill Kimishima about it. But, knowing the investors, they'll probably just ask about plans for making Nintendo pants.

I want Nintendo pants

Unless Kimishima has been planning to delay the reveal as long as possible which is why people are thinking #delay or #January on account of Nintendo's silence and lack of communicating with its fanbase.

"I'll let you ask one question today, it can either be about NX or today's snacks"

At a time I wanted NX to be like really powerful. But I am fine if it isn't.

I think ever since the SNES, Nintendo's biggest successes have come from out of the lateral thinking, Gunpei Yokoi playbook.

I hope that is what they are doing here. It needs to be cheap, affordable and easy to develop for. Raw horse power isn't nearly as important.

My reaction when the NX is revealed

The new fanbase Nintendo wants is the Apple fanbase. I'm on #TeamMarch and it will be on sale late March.

3 week window. Start camping.

I'm less optimistic about support from western third party publishers.... I don't see it being much better than Wii U.

Seriously, though, nobody should have expected different. Nintendo consolidating their development on one system should help a ton.

Everybody should know this by now.

Have expectations of
1) lots and lots of first party games
2) exclusive third party games
3) Japanese third party support
4) indie support

If the NX takes off then you can start thinking it will get western third party support

Frankly I don't care lol. I just want awesome Nintendo software and greater Japanese third party support in quantity and quality. I've got a PC for the western 3rd party games I want, which are mostly PC exclusive or PC oriented anyway (again talking western games I want).

Also what the post above says ^. The biggest western games are largely platform agnostic, and will go where their vision can go and they can make money.

It was a joke, guys. I thought I made that clear with my statement.

I'm honestly okay with this. Do any of us actually plan to play on NX exclusively? We don't need Mass Effect and Fifa and Call of Duty on every damn platform as a rule.

I'll play Call of Duty on my PS4. NX is for Monster Hunter, and Animal Crossing, and Dragon Quest, and.... You get the point. #ForeverOnTheHypeTrain

Yeah, even the 3DS with its 60M installbase didn't get almost anything from western devs that wasn't indie games or shovelware licensed stuff like the low quality Disney platformers.

it will help them go from wii u numbers to 3ds numbers

not having western third party support in this day and age is a huge, huge mistake. i'm certain of this. they aren't going to hit on a massive audience again doing their own weird thing like they did with the wii.

not having rockstar games, or call of duties, or EA sports games is going to hurt them bad. these are the biggest games in the world.

at least they finally got minecraft on their platforms. they should release an NX minecraft bundle at launch.

I think they will jump on board if the system takes off. They won't leave potential money lying on the table.

Audience demographics matter far more than installed base, so no, that's not going to happen unless Nintendo has invested massively in exclusive titles/content targeting 17-35-year-old Western males.

Yeah, but the keyword being "if".

Well, of course. Unless one of us can tell the future....

That's true to some degree, but I bet that a few companies will dip their toe in the water to see if they can snag a few sales. I imagine Ubisoft will continue support assuming that the system is capable of having decent ports of their games and sell fairly well. EA is another beast, but I think Activision and Ubisoft will give it a fair shot, especially if the system gets traction.

Wii U had a lacking, but passable start. With good momentum (big if), Gamecube levels of support would be possible. Which wasn't that bad.
Except towards the end.
But thats just jumping to conclusions, so whatever.

Edit:

On a second thought, fuck that audience.

If there's a reveal this week, tomorrow is the last day it could possibly be announced. Directs normally don't happen the day after.

The new hype train I'm on is so much more comfortable than the NX one. Our thing is actually getting revealed. Leave NX for now and join me on the Red Dead hype train. It's warm.

The only thing consistent about Nintendo games is that they're typically good anyway.

Or to put it another way, if you like Nintendo games you'll probably like Nintendo games.

I mean, I never expected it and contrary to "popular" belief I don't think Nintendo really cares. Like at all.

Really Nintendo? YOU LITERALLY MADE A SPAM BOT WANT TO KILL ITSELF. ITS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE AND YET YOU DID IT! NINTENDO STOPT HIS MADNESS BEFORE ITS TOO LATE AND ANNOUNCE THE NX!!

Again...Nintendo held a media event in NYC for the holiday lineup.
...you do realize, no one, including myself believe you when you say this right? I mean you may be telling the truth but everyone's just going to think your saying that because of NDAs so its pointless posting it lol.

I took it as a joke, but more from what I've seen as your posts because there exist people who would say that seriously. Didn't mean the reply to sound defensive or confrontational, just was remarking on how truly little I care.

assuming a shared/unified development platform, how many games do you guys think nintendo will be able to release each year? 10? 15? 20?

is it reasonable to imagine this may usher in a new age of nintendo ip? does anyone have stats on how many new ip nintendo has introduced each gen?
