Where did Tuesday being the announcement of the announcement come from?

I don't recall any rumor or source saying that Tuesday would be the announcement date
 
I guess confirming this week is... something? Everyone knew this was the next potential reveal period...

But why not go even further beyond and confirm the day?
 
Why would OBJ choose this week, of all weeks, to wear Kirby cleats?

He clearly got a heads up from Nintendo, that this was the week that NX would be revealed, alongside a kirby game.

It all adds up.

The Eurogamer rumor looks like Wii U 2 and mimics existing, failed products. This thing will be a console and it will compete in the XBox One/PS4 in terms of power so they can get AAA ports.

It is like 3 years into the generation. It should be simple for Nintendo to create a console at $199 that can produce Xbox One and PS4 level images.

You misunderstand how Nintendo makes and markets their hardware.

Who says she is lying? A Tegra chip could just be a placeholder. It is possible that the mobile component is just another device that uses the NX ecosystem.

It makes 0 sense to make a handheld tablet that looks exactly like Wii U after the Wii U failed. It makes no sense at all. This thing will not look like a Wii U, period.

Ubisoft said Nintendo learned from their mistakes.

Mistake #1 - Tablet Controller
Mistake #2 - $299 price point.

This thing will be a console like the Gamecube with some gimmick and be priced at $199 and be comparable in power to XBO and PS4.

She may know the reveal date, but that doesn't mean all her rumors are true. We have been here before.

Still not sure where you get hybrid=tablet from. Also, lol at ps4/Xbone power but $199
 
Its been so long since I've been hyped for a hardware reveal. Even the PS4 reveal didn't get me this hyped.

The Wii was one of the very few system to get me extremely hyped.

The Eurogamer rumor had an image of the device and it looks just like a Wii U. All the mock-ups look like a Wii U. This thing will NOT be a Wii U.

Think about the base Xbox One @ $249. Remove the HDD and the disc drive. $199 would be easy to get to.

I'm just wondering whether they will announce it early next year so it doesn't impact sales of the 3DS version. Also gives a momentum push for the NX a couple of months before launch.

Smash Bros with Inklings and a couple of other new members (Shovel Knight?) will also happen imo. Hopefully with the stages of both Wii U and 3DS included.

I think its quite a given, having a new portable thing that can take advantage of the recent push with Pokemon Go to sell more units with the game.

By the way, i'm hoping to at least see the real name of the machine in this annoucement of tomorrow.

Hence the locked down super late and bottled down communication only seen since the Wii. It is about controlling the narrative when they finally reveal.

Not really? It was a rough mockup and all it shows is a handheld that would probably be more comparable in form factor to the vita. And when you play on the tv, the controllers detach so there is no 2 screen gaming

Do you honestly believe the only reason Wii U failed was due to marketing? That if they marketed it better, then it would have succeeded.

If that is true, wouldn't it be impossible to market an NX that looks like a Wii U controller?

Smash Bros with Ice Climbers just to drive home the extra power would be pretty sweet even though I don't care *too* much for the pair.

Announcements are usually Tuesday's and the Direct is usually on Thursday's. But there have been exceptions to this.

How hard will this thing be to market if it looks like a Wii U and is priced at $299, and as a handheld device that is underpowered than an Xbox One and won't receive AAA ports or support.

That learns none of the lessons of why the Wii U failed. It just repeats them.
