And in the end, Canada does end up owning the gold/podium. Only way for USA to save face is to win the hockey game by 3 or 4 goals.

What's the record for most gold ever in the Winter Olympic?

I just said this in my last post :lol 13, which we have. Tied with USSR in 1976 and Norway in 2002. Tomorrow, we stand alone with 14.

It's a bit of a shame our guys couldn't defend our own record from being tied. Talk about letting your country down! (jK)))

All in all Norway's been a bit of a disappointment considering the potential this year. It's been an olympics of two halves for us. The opening was shameful, and then we had a great streak to make somewhat up for it. Hope we can clinch one more gold tomorrow to secure that 'all time' record further, though.

Are there Norwegians favored to win the 50km?

Did Canada clinch the Gold Medal lead?

What events are left other than Hockey and 50K Cross Country?

Never mind, read the first few posts of the thread

So, a great Olympic, as we near the end. Canada did a damn good job.

I think they'll begin to outpace the US more and more as time goes on, though, if they continue this Own the Podium stuff. I don't foresee good things for our athletes. It's true that we have the highest-paid athletes in the world, but they're highly paid only after they get through the initial grind of no exposure and a total lack of interest. Unless we get some more funding into developing talent instead of letting the prodigies struggle until they manage to make a name for themselves, we're going to fall back more and more.

I woudln't call Norway's performance disappointing. It's a country of five million, and they routinely finish in the top five in medal haul every four years. It's actually pretty crazy.

Awesome. I just tuned in to NBC and it looks like the Olympic events for the day are just about to get started. I can't wait to see if we can win some medals!
