After watching UCLA suffer through a painful, last-minute loss to Wyoming (24-21), it reminded me that we need a college bowl thread. Aside from Hawaii/UAB tonight, the real action will start on Monday.

Post all of your predictions, gloatings, and laments in here! If you can find a kind word for the Bruins, that would be a nice start.

USC gets exposed for being overated 2 years in a row by beating 1 good team both years, and this year CAl only beat 1 decent team sooooooooo.

The computer polls actually try to fix the inconsistancies from the AP and Coaches polls, in fact if it wasn't obvious for everyone for years that the 2 polls are broken.

But with the polls broken, the computers can only fix so much.

My biggest complaint witht the AP and Coaches poll is that all 3 teams had 1 loss last year, but the way the old school polls go, a team almost never leap frogs another team untill there's a loss by the one ahead in the polls which means simply because USC lost before the other 2 that they were a better team ? LOL what a joke, yea that's much better than letting a team of computers figure out that USC beat 1 decent team last year, and lost to an unranked opponent while OU and LSU beat more top ranked teams and both lost to a highly respected and ranked football team.

Here we are again this year with USC's biggest win was against a team who only beat 1 good/ranked team all year. = Priceless

OK, I'm going to have to complain a bit. Strength of schedule is VASTLY overrated. Saying that a team hasn't beaten the same quality of opponents is somewhat misleading.

Imagine that I have an AMAZINGLY great football team, one that would certainly beat anyone it played in a given year. Now, imagine that team has a schedule in which it plays no ranked opponents. The most that can be said is that the skill of my team hasn't been demonstrated against quality opposition...but that's IT.

On the other hand, the more quality teams that you beat, the more confident that someone can feel about the strength of your team. Losing to bad teams is also important information, but I think losing to good teams isn't very important at all.

I like human polls because you can look at the talent AND results, and make a ranked determination about which teams are better. Computers by definition can only operate on what has happened...which isn't the entire picture.

Plus what about the Mike Tyson syndrome, you know, where when no good opponents are presented to compete against it tends to lessen the effectivness and/or strength of the competitor to the point where when it finally comes time and they have to compete against a good/great opponent they really aren't ready for the challenge ?

Cal plays in the "I got jacked out of a big BCS bowl bowl" tonight. I guess it might be for the better because Cal is missing almost ALL receiving options, with only Cross and Jordan left. But still, they deserved the Rose bowl after all these years.
However tonight, they have to play the holiday bowl against texas tech. ESPN insider's scouts inc predict an upset, but I think they are underating Cal's running offense. Their prediction is based upon the believe that Cal is done with McArthur done for the season. However, Cal has two GREAT Halfbacks, it seems that with the weeks of preparation, that Tedford has a gameplan ready to accentuate the positives of the lineup out on the field. I think Cal takes this game No problem and that if Rodger's returns, they will be in a national championship game next year.

Tough season, we'll rebuild. I remember saying the same thing last year, but we're re-upping with Meyer this year. Change is....well....it's a change. I hope it's for the better. I have nothing good to say about the Canes except that Hester is a fucking machine, and he'll be sick at the next level. But he'll still be able to give us another season like this next year before all the pro teams beat themselves up to draft him. This guy can do anything...I'm convinced of it now. His D has improved drastically this year. Scary thing is he may be best on offense. Oh well, Gators will be back next year. That's gonna be our year. PEACE.

Watching the Bulldogs/Badgers game right now.

Georgia blew it on the first drive as they had the Badgers D on their heels and only came up with a FG.

On the other side, the Badgers have blown their opportunities on offense too. John Stacko looks horrible. It is still the 1st quarter and he has missed 3 open receivers on play action passes. All 3 could have been huge gains.

3-3 game the way both offenses are going right now the final could be 6-3.

Man, no matter how this game ends, Georgia playcalling is horrid! With about 6 minutes left in the game Georgia is up 24-13 and the Badgers drove to the 5 yard line of Georgia. The DE sacks Stocco and recovers the fumble! Game over, right?! Nope! Georgia runs the clock the first two plays and on 3rd down with like 4 minutes left Georgia throws some weird screen pass. Badgers defense intercepts the screen pass and returns it for a TD. Two point conversion good the game is now 24-21 with four minutes left! Horrible playcalling on Georgia's part!
