The Official Fallout 3 thread of post-apocalyptic proportions!

The answer to that is a resounding no. They've been working hard on getting the DLC up and running so they can take more of our money.

Debilitating bugs like the situation with
Garza
in the tunnels and the disppearing items from your Megaton house are still in there.

Just look at the Bethesda technical support forums, nearly every page has one thread about disppearing items in the Megaton house and nothing is done about it. And we're talking about a bug that was prevalent all the way back in Oblivion. It's not new and yet nothing is being done about it. It happened to me before, which is why I'm bitching so much about it. In a game with so much loot and where you're forced to spend so much time scavenging for items, losing a whole goddamn stash of items does *not* feel good at all.
I must have been extremely lucky not to see as many bugs as there were reported there, but I have noticed that the quality level of DLC content has dropped with every iteration thus far. First there was the Live! issue with the DLC not working right upon download until I copied it to the game directory with Anchorage. The Pitt just compounded the problem with its own stew of problems that made it feel liked a hacked together mess.

I'm almost worried to see what might come out of the Brotherhood DLC next, but I guess I'll find out.

I just started playing this game again. I've finished (should it be spoilered?)
"Following in his Footsteps.
. I'm nearly to level four.

Does anybody know how of an (relatively) easy way to get some decent amount of ammo at my point in the game? I'm always scarce on it.

theres alot:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3_bugs

you would think with that one resource that some of these could get fixed, but patches are free so.... lets just buy the rest of the game (and an non-half assed ending?) and probably break more shit in the process in may!

thank god for community patches tho.

Well, I bought this for the PC and had a trillion problems with the game (at that time there were zero patches released by Bethesda for it) and had to finally uninstall it - i'm gonna try again, does anyone know any good modding sites for the game?

Uh, I just "beat" the game I guess?

I get locked into the control room, have no idea what the code is, run around like an idiot for a minute, then all of a sudden I see brosef Fawkes, who was waiting outside the entire time appear right next to me inside the control room. I look at him for a second, the screen goes white, then the credits are rolling?

What the fuck is this shit?

The ending of Fallout 3. Congratulations!

They're going to "fix it" with the next DLC.

I'm really really looking forward to the Broken Steel DLC and I really hope they get it right and it turns out to be awesome. I still have so many sidequests left undone that I've been saving in anticipation of the higher level cap in Broken Steel.

Nice, eh? The game should come with a sticker saying "do not finish".

Boy, I get some of the hate for the ending if you ended up seeing the events play out the way you did. However, the code has been beaten into your head from the very moment the game starts (for posterity its the number that denotes your mothers favorite bible passage). You're dad in the game even mentions it several times during the main mission. You do have the option of going in and
sacrificing yourself
by inputting the code or you could
convince Sarah Lyons to sacrifice herself and she'll put in the code
.
You can also contaminate the purifier with the mutated FEV virus Eden gives you or not which will also change the ending
. Either way you play it, most of these scenarios are more meaningful endings. I played an absolutely evil character until the finale where I chose to
sacrifice and redeem myself
. I just couldn't let dad down.:D I'm not saying the endings are fantastic but some are certainly better than what you experienced.

Well, that certainly seemes interesting(NOW IT'S OBLIVION WITH GUNS LOL) Doesn't convey the whole "wasteland" thing very well, but it seems like it gives more life to the world.

yeah but to be done proper itd have to be like stalkerish, this is just the barren desert ruins with farts of green here and there.

altho I do agree after 200 years some stuff would be total rubble, and overgrown, everything still looks freshely bombed. Oh well its just a game after all.

Has there been any word on a release date for Broken Steel yet? Haven't touched Fallout 3 in months, reached Lvl 20 an age ago and got fed up of seeing all that XP go to waste. Finally got around to playing Oblivion recently and although its good fun, at the same time I do miss the wasteland. :(

You guys actually used the companions? I didn't even like having Dogmeat with me.

I'm a loner, Dottie, a rebel.

I didn't. I mean, it was awesome to watch Fawke's mow down everyone with his gatling gun, but squad members just seemed to add nothing to the gameplay. No little conversations, no finding out more about their backstory, it was almost like being alone.

They really did a poor job with consistency on that issue. Like why are the wooden frames of houses still around after 200 years?

So what's the likelihood of a Fallout 3 ultimate edition with all the DLC packs?

I would say 95%, which I was going to wait for after trading in my copy...alas I saw on CAG that the collectors edition for PS3 was 39.99 at blockbuster so I dove right back in. Love this game. :D

So I've been taking my time with the game, I'm up to level 15 or so just from doing a bunch of sidequests. I'm only up to the 4th main story quest though...I suspect I'll hit the level cap really soon, should I just wait for the next DLC before going too far ahead?

Nah, when you get close to the cap just go and do the mainquest.

so the main quest takes 4 to 5 hours to complete, and the sidequest like 1 hour.. so are we talkin here about 8to 10 hours of new gameplay??
if that's so :D

I wish we could knew how many sidequest there are

The new pack also raises the level cap from 20 to 30

I thought the last DLC was supposed to eliminate the level cap? Has it always just been a raise?

Yeah, it was announced from the beginning that it would only be raised to level 30 with the DLC. Although apparently the experience gap between level 20 and 30 is rather large.

Thanks for the confirm. Sort of a bummer, but at least you can play beyond the ending now. Though I wonder,
if you "choose" to sacrifice yourself after the new DLC is downloaded, does your game end? Do you have to make Lyons bite the bullet to access the beyond-ending material?
I haven't played the other two DLC packs yet, so I'm not sure how you access them; IIRC you load up an old pre-ending save. Will be interesting to see how well the new DLC is integrated into the story.

omg, OMG! Didn't figure it was coming this soon, after the debacle that was The Pitt launch. I can't wait! Gonna be a blast leveling up to 30.

The new DLC sounds awesome but it also sounds like it's adding a lot of stuff that can easily break the game. With Bethesda's track record, I would guess that it's going to be riddled with a shitload of bugs on day one.

That is the doing of a genuine G.E.C.K. unit most likely.

Anyone know where to pick up the 360 version on the cheap? I borrowed the game from a friend and beat it but I would like to get my own copy and the DLC.

Question.

Since Broken Steel removes the ending and lets you continue playing even after you finish the main story, I'm assuming this means the main story of the origianl game, and in the expansion, does this mean that even once I finish the original Fallout 3 ending, I can go back and keep doing the old side quests and stuff? Or will it be limited only to broken steel content?

Those Karma achievements are so fucking dumb.

But aside from that, can't wait for Broken Steel. It'll finally get me back into Fallout 3 since I'm sitting at a sweet spot with so many quests left to do even though I'm already lvl 20.

Just make Fawkes do it.

I believe they are just "changing" the ending so you can continue playing. They will raise the cap level to 30 and I think there will be a quest where you hunt down the remaining Enclave soldiers.

I think it means you can still do most/all of the content, as it'd be pretty dumb of Bethesda to cut off all the old content when you still need to get to level 30. As for the Broken Steel stuff itself, it looks like that will only be available after you complete the main quest in the first place.

FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKK YEAH!!!!
THANK GOD!!! I thought I'd have to wait til the end of next month!!!

As a result of the level cap increase, you'll be facing much tougher enemies. The amount of experience required to reach the new levels is designed to keep you playing the game for much longer than the new main quest will last, which is why new side missions have also been included. You'll be traveling all over the Capital Wastelands again, though things may have now changed to reflect your earlier actions.
