tmaynard said:Unfortunately, if you are referring to the lunchbox in the picture I posted, I'm pretty sure they've changed the design and it may not even be a lunchbox now. But instead just a tin with a hinge on it featuring completely different artwork.
Compare the one in my post, to this:

Hootie said:There's an "Aim Down Sight" mode for all of the guns....right?
painey said:Theres plain aim and then theres LT which is extra aim, but its not like CoD or BiA, its a very slightly zoomed in view and really either way its useless because real time gunplay is more or less broken.
Hootie said:Well looking at this video makes me think the one in your stock picture is the one that we'll get.

Hootie said:Wait what? So the gunplay sucks? I really don't want to rely on VATS...
How is it broken?
MrCompletely said:The game is NOT a shooter... I know a lot of people are going to have certain expectations from a game that puts a gun in your hand and your perspective in first person, but real time action is still stat based; it's based on character skill, not player skill.
Eurogamer said:It's a clever system with well-implemented controls, even if its adolescent focus on creative brutality doesn't quite sit right with the game's overall tone. The problem with VATS, however, is the fact you will be compelled to use it all the time, because the real-time combat is so terrible. As Kieron noted, what worked okay in Oblivion's melee combat is not necessarily going to wash when you have a gun in your hand, and the lack of precision, sense of connection or tactile feedback is startling.
MrCompletely said:Well, if it is as bad as Painey and Eurogamer say, let's hope that some user mods can correct this issue.
Still, after watching some of the gameplay vids posted on Gametrailers, I still think it looks pretty damn awesome. The VATS system is quick and seems to mix in with the real time action pretty well. The combination of the two definitely lend a unique cinematic style to the game as well.
Hw(any hw) also tends to be much more difficult to work with when you have much fewer people working on it, which is the case for vast majority of multiplatform releases.GreekWolf said:I think Carmack's prediction three years ago, that the PS3 hardware is simply much more difficult to work with, is the primary culprit in so many half-assed ports.
EviLore said:Picture removed from official thread OP (you know the one).
Vyse The Legend said:What the hell... I sat down to play for a bit, and three hours flew by.
So much for finishing Fable 2, LBP and Dead Space. :lol
Cheech said:Why do I feel like I'm reading the Mass Effect thread from last year all over again?
No, the game doesn't work as a straight-up shooter, there is also no Conquest mode or online stat tracking for headshots or kill/death ratio. It's a full-blown, hardcore RPG. Jesus Christ.
antispin said:Will the PC CE box be downgraded like the Xbox CE has been? Anyone with the Fallout 3 PC CE?
Hootie said:Well looking at this video makes me think the one in your stock picture is the one that we'll get.
purg3 said:What do you mean? How was the 360 CE downgraded?
purg3 said:What do you mean? How was the 360 CE downgraded?
antispin said:Damnit, now I am confused. The video has the original box, the guy above a downgrade. So it is a US vs. Europe thing? If so, US packaging fails.
tmaynard said:If you're talking about Vyse's pictures, I'm pretty sure the closeup of the box has the slipcover on it. If you look in the other picture he posted, you can see the slip cover is off, but his lunchbox is open so It's hard to tell.
So, I'm pretty sure his is exactly like the one in the video.
Edit: Here's the pic. The slip cover is in the top left.
*snip*
The pics he took are a bit misleading. :lol Not a good shot of the outside of the lunchbox. Maybe Vyse will come back and confirm that the lunchbox is indeed the one from the promotional photos.
purg3 said:Here, hope this settles the confusion

tmaynard said:There you have it. We still get the awesome luncbox.
In Vyse's closeup, that slip looks like sooo much like it's the tin itself.
momolicious said:are yall actually going to use that lunchbox?
antispin said:See this post above. I am not paying $120 (shipping to my country included) for that tin box.
EDIT: To clarify the 'downgrade' --
Original
Retail version
The original is a unique lunchbox design, the latter is an ordinary tin can. HOWEVER, this video shows the original design, which leads me to believe that the US packaging is different from Europe's. I would like this cleared as well.
