The Official Fallout 3 thread of post-apocalyptic proportions!

Finally got all the achievements and with that I'm gonna quit Fallout 3 for now (86 hours on the clock) and finally move on to other games. I think Valkyria Chronicles is next for me.

All in all I can't see any other game coming close to F3's greatness this year, it easily met my very high expectations and is also one of my favorite games ever. Probably top 10 material.

That said, I'm still not done with the game. Just like with Oblivion, when I have nothing better to do, I'm just gonna pop in F3 and play some of the random dungeons that I haven't even visited yet. I sure hope they're gonna do an expansion next year, because I'm always ready for more Fallout.
 
So is there a quest given for killing the super mutant behemoths, i.e hints to their locations, or do I need to just explore to find them?

Also (minor mainquest spoiler)
I'm not sure if if was technically me that killed the behemoth outside of gnr, the kill might have gone to one of the brotherhood paladins. Do I have to kill all the behemoth myself or is it enough for them to just be dead for the achievement to kick in?

I'm at about 30 hours or so and I still only have the one I found
during the initial Vault 101 sequences.
I don't know why I haven't found any, I do quite a bit of exploring and I'm rather thorough in checking rooms.

there's one bobblehead you can only get in a section of the game only accessible for a short period of the main quest. so be thorough. i missed it :(
 
That giant robot was really buggy and awful. Shame.

Finished the game after around 20 hours. Think I'm gonna be evil this time.
 
Played a lot this weekend, mixing up sub-quests and main quests.

One sub-quest in particular is noteworthy...

Stealing Independence - you get it in Rivet City and an old guy sends you to the National Archives. That is a HUGE dungeon FILLED with all kinds of crazy stuff. I haven't seen anything close to that building's size. You can play for an hour in one direction, never see anything old, and that's just a single WING of the building. Definately the place to go if you want to get lost in an excellent dungeon-crawl.

Not to mention that the ending to that quest is hilarious if your speech skill is high enough.
 
4 bobbles, 12 hours, very evil karma, 4 quests completed...yeah I have just kinda been meandering around wreaking havoc. love this game!
 
I've got.... 9 bobbleheads I think? At around 45 hours. On the Waters Of Life in the main quest arc, to give you an idea of how much side work I've done thus far. the NW quarter of the map is pretty much all I haven't explored so far.
 
I'm on my second playthrough first was pure evil. One thing that pissed me off was the republic of Dave vote miniquest. Everyone votes but nothing happens?

You need to look around more, then. I can't for the life of me understand how anyone can claim this game doesn't reward you (heavily) for exploring. There are easter eggs E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E.

My Dear Fallout 3,
I know we haven’t spent that much time together but I wanted to tell you how much I love you. Please don’t tell my wife that we have been spending so much time together. Yes, I know she is spending most of her waking hours with Fable 2, but what we have is different.

I knew I was falling in love with you when you first started running. The usually static/standard intro scenes for a video game were replaced with a more appropriate version, running like I was viewing slides or microfiche that introduce the companies involved in making the game. My folks always told me how important first impressions are, and it is like you listened to them. When I had to go through the character customisation I was expecting to simply pick my S.P.E.C.I.A.L. pick my typically generic looks and run. You gave me so much more. The character creation is one of the most thrilling and unique I have yet to experience. I have chosen to play as a good guy, and you give me that freedom. You let me play however I like. You thicken the bond between us by making me file like I have known you my whole life. In game terms, I have.

You go so far beyond the call of duty by not only including a rich, living and breathing word to wander in, but you give me direction, you smoothly blend in the V.A.T.S. system of targetting to further swell my heart, making it fit to burst with joy. This is not only because you have become something so beautiful that I cannot help but admire you, but because, despite being so different from your older sisters (each of whom I had thought I had loved as much as you), you still manage to stay true to the old familiar world that was so masterfully created.

When our time is done, I will lovingly place you on the mantle and often look up at you with a sense of warmth that will glow so brightly it could melt China. When I feel enough time has passed I will take you down off that shelf, place you back in the 360, and then play as a fucking prick.

Im 50 hours in the game
In the fisrt 45 hours, i only found the 1st bobblehead
now at 50 hours, I found 6. I dont know what hapenned lol.

Anyways, I thought Ive seen it all, but yesterday, I found a
new armor that speaks to me when I wear it, and auto-injects med-x when I need it.
Nice. :D
 
Found the most kick ass weapon in the
Death Claw Sanctuary
...It's called the vindicator or something like that.
It's basically a minigun laser...very powerful and badass!

Right, I love that the game constantly throws these little jokes at you. I was randomly wandering the wasteland and found a door, obviously I opened it only to be greeted by
a brick wall that says "FUCK YOU" in green lettering
.
 
:lol Vault 108 is hilarious.

I'm almost done with the game, but still need to win 4 speech challenges for the achievement and I have no idea where I can do that. And I have done all the sidequests already. I think I'll try my luck in Little Lamplight.

Few questions:

1/ Just met
Eden for the first time
. Is there much left to the main storyline?
2/ The Lawbringer perk where you get the fingers- where do you drop them off or get them traded? After I chose it it said there was a mp maker added, but hell if I know which one it was. :lol

Game is amazing. I don't really play games anymore, but this is just so good. I started over because I started greyditch way to early and was getting my ass handed to me. Its pretty vast and while there isn't very much to find, exploring is fun. I like to trip myself out and think this could really happen if we are careless... :lol

well, don't you kind of make only weapons? That said, all I needed by endgame was the plasma rifle. High level + Luck + criticals = 1 shot kills. I never bothered with the workbench. I thought it was a pointless addition to the franchise. It kept me interested for 1 item (the rockit launcher) but then realising you have to somehow maintain/repair it...

well, lets just say I lost interest really fast.

I agree. Good thing it was easy to make more rock-it luanchers, I made the first time I made anything, and that lasted me a while. Between that and the shishkebab it encompassed all my "making".

I with there were some armor recipes, or improve existing armor with pieces of stuff. For example, start off with a basic raider armor, but by adding a number of "frying pans" I can make it into plate armor with improved defense. Or add some "energy cells" and make it electrified, so stuff touching me gets shocked.

This can be DLC I guess, but still. The "making" stuff aspect is not deep enough. In a post apocalyptic world it should be a lot about finding, scavenging, improvising and making things...

Yeah, I talked to her earlier in the game. I'm almost done now with my run as a good guy. Can't wait to start again and be total bastard. :D
 
Holy crap I've encountered a glitch that has brought the game to a halt.
When escorting Dr. Li through the tunnels to the citadel, she just stops at the one point and refuses to move. There is no way to get her to move and I don't have any remotely recent saves. Anyone else run into this at all? I need her to complete this quest and I cannot advance without her.
PC version, btw.

40 hours to go through the main quest and maybe 2/3 of the side quests. Probably at 50 to finish everything.

Try opening up the console, clicking on her, and typing evp.

Save more often. :lol

I had a moment where Moon beam or whatever her name is(stealing independence) kept running into a wall instead of following me through a room. It's always nice to see an ally block the only exit out of a room simply because he's following you too closely, sometimes you can push them out of the way, sometimes you can't.
 
I saw my first dog-type enemy at my 35th hour in... Is that weird? Seems like it should be a pretty common enemy. Not to mention the first one I saw was already a corpse, wtf!

Fast travel to Springvale and walk into the house straight ahead. Leave your stuff in the cabinet and it should be safe. Or an easy way to get a house is to "do the right thing" in The Power of Atom quest in Megaton.
