Before you start playing, turn OFF notifications for messages, people signing on/off in the PS3 settings. There is a nasty glitch right now where if you have those on, whenever someone signs on/off, or sends a message, your game will freeze until the message is gone from the screen.

Supposedly, Bethesda is working on a fix, but who knows when its coming. Other than that, I havent noticed framerate issues at all on my PS3 playing this awesome game.
 
I was up until 2am last night playing this game!

I murdered every motherfucking one of those slavers in Paradise City after I rescued the kids. I finished that adventure without even firing a shot but once they were in the clear I went back and brought the fucking fury to those assholes. Glorious!!!

The game was a bit slow to win me over but now I think it's the finest RPG I've ever played. Everything is very intelligently done, all the game systems are really fine tuned and well thought out. It just all comes together so nicely.

Good stuff. thats easily dealt with then. Can you still access ingame xmb? Should I even ask if this has custom soundtracks/trophies or am I wasting my time?
 
Hey all,

Kind of a Spoiler Request here.

I feel like I'm about halfway through Fallout, and my interest is flagging. (Because of EndWar, of all things). Can someone point me at the questlines that would compare to, say, The Dark Brotherhood quests in Obliv? I feel like I'm going to march down the main questline and miss the really good stuff.

In consideration of others, please spoiler-tag or PM your responses.

Fallout 3 is about the journey, man... the journey. Not so much the destination. :D
 
Anyone run into this one yet? I can't go into the Jefferson Memorial building and do the quest, because if I do, and I try to exit - the game locks up. I had to go back and load a previous game, so I decided to do things differently and come back to it later.

Sure enough, it hit me again when I went back there. Basically, I cannot play the main games storyline because of this bug. Has anyone else run into this?
 
help needed


so I arrive at megaton and I am doing the disarm the bomb quest and all I have is the option to blow it up (which I can't even not high enough level), and it doesn't tell me how to disarm it. Also in the quest Blood lines, where do I find the boy because it doesn't give me any clues as to where to look

I also have only 2 caps and almost no ammo left
 
I need to pay the guy in Megaton 300 bucks to get the info and I only have 8, where the hell do you get the money from and I am running out of ammo and weapons almost completely, where do you stock up?

There's a woman in springvale who will give you 300 caps. Talk to moriarty about it. He says she owes him money. She, of course, denies it but will give you the caps all the same for agreeing to tell Moriarty she's dead or some such thing.

I just
used the perk "Lady killer" or something like that, which makes the whore tell you the pass of the guy's terminal
...

dont worry about the ammo, things look up...

you will be followed by a bunch of raiders... after killing em, you can take all you need :D ammo, aid, armors, whatever :D :D i've more than 600 rounds now
 
I hope they higher the levelcap. The last time i played Fallout 3 i went from level 14 to 16 in 2 hours and i just visit 1/3 of the Game =/ Without the leveling, there goes away some fun ... so i just put on the Ghule Mask instat of kill all the Guhl in one Dungeon ... its just feel wrong =/

I also got to many money, armor und stimpacks ... also there is the Fallout problem of having to much stuff to sell, buy the people just dont have enough money to buy everything ^^''

Also i love this Flamesword! Its the lasersword of the wasteland =)
 
And just to show a third way of doing it:

I broke in at night from the back door and hacked the computer that has notes on everything.

From talking to the ghoul bartender/slave I'm guessing there's also a way to get info from him.

You might be better off without trophies. I have 48/50 achievements and only need to get the ones for a having level 14 and level 20 neutral character. I want to put this down and play ANYTHING else, but am compelled to get those last two first. God help me.

Trophies are coming via a patch.

I'm holding off until it's released.
 
I got 238 caps now, and I'm doing this survival guide mission to get some caps and this bitch isn't paying in caps but in items, where can I get caps?
 
I got tons of caps by just selling crap I picked up from people I killed.


With regard to leveling, I do think they should have let you level up past 20. Once I got to level 20, I got bored doing all the side missions and I beat the game relatively quickly after that. The game lost its fun once I hit level 20.

True this. Do any Morrowind or Oblivion mods let you break cap? Cause I would definitely get a level 40 or 50 cap mod
 
I've been playing this game for almost 40 hour now and I think I'm halfway through. it's really fun, but I'm starting to get bored.

I think partly because the environment looks the same most of the time. enemies don't have much variation, and the radio music, while funj for the first couple hor, is starting to really annoy me that I turn off Radio most time now.

game mechanic is much better than Oblivion and the character design also look much better, but I have to say, I think I enjoy Oblivion more than Fallout 3. I think my main problem is mostly the environment and monster. not enough variety.
 
Ok wtf, I just sat down to take the G.O.A.T. test. I sit down and teacher says lets get started. Than thats it. Nothing happens. I see everyone writing but me. I cant get up or do anything.
 
I need to resume playing this. I've got 4-5 hours already in the game and I haven't finished the first main quest... although I was on my way to Galaxy News Radio. I've found repair to be pretty useful since you can take 3 shitty pieces of armor and make one piece of armor and it is in good condition and sell it... plus it reduces the amount you carry.

I wouldn't concentrate so much on making money as on conserving money. Don't buy stuff you're just going to find in the field later, find a place to sleep rather than paying for health packs, repair your own equipment, etc.

Conserve, conserve, conserve. Eventually you'll have more money than you know what to do with.

I would recommend people do the exact opposite of that. Spend, spend, spend. Nothing like always having 70+ stimpaks, 5000 caps and the best gear stashed in your closet only to be already too powerful to need even a 5th of all that. I got into that mode because upon walking out of Megaton I wandered into the city overrun by ants and went straight into "Those!"... by the time I got out all I had was 5 rounds in a hunting rifle and some buffout. :lol

Save and reload and you should be fine.
 
man, this game is fun as hell, not only that it's so time consuming and its hard not to get lost in this world.

Im so hooked on this game right now....I can't believe how well Bethesda did with this game, being that I hate every single oblivion game with a passion, but fuckign LOVE this game.

quick question...I finally got my
I finally got my home in megaton for disabling the bomb...can i just drop off some gear that I have been saving in the home and not worry about it ever disappearing?

damn, i am suppossed to working on my world history research paper, but I cant stop playing this stupid game...:lol

anyone have a world history paper I can use?:D
 
Man...50 hours in and I'm finally starting to struggle to find things to do. I've found about 116 places and the only "big" quest I have left is the Nuka-Cola Challenge, which really isn't even a quest anyway.

Any ideas to make the game last longer? I don't feel like making a new character just yet.

Also, is there anything special in the National Guard Depot? I did a quick run through there but didn't find anything particularly interesting.

Edit: One more thing, how do I get to the
White House? I have a general idea of where it is on the map but it seems like it's blocked off in all directions by rubble and buildings. I heard it's just a huge crater now but it'd be neat to check it out. Do I need to travel through a metro tunnel? If so, which one?

I didn't know
it was destroyed (Of course it would be destroyed, what was I even thinking?) and it was a big disappointment. I was hoping for a small dungeon like the archives or the capitol or something. :/

Son of a bitch, yet another totally unexpected great moment today.

I was just dicking around near a Satellite array way north on the map when I come across a door set in the side of a mountain a little away from the satellites. I'm thinking "now what the hell is a door doing here?" So I open it expecting some back entrance to one of the satellites.

Instead, I find a solid concrete wall with "FUCK YOU" written in big green letters. :lol

I was walking to vault 112 when
I found a raider's base, Evergreen or something. I just walked in, shoot every raiders except the merchant at the end, nuked the Super Mutant Behemoth, freed the slaves, and continued my journey as if there were nothing.

Awesome feeling. Was it actually part of a quest?

Also (after tranquility lane spoilers)
do I have to follow Dad to Rivet City? That's....a long walk, and he always did stupid things like punching a giant rad scorpion with his bare hands -_-
 
I've told Mr.Burke to go fuck himself, i didn't blew Megaton up. Turned him to the sheriff, and he put a bounty on me. After repeated assaults, i decided to look for him and kill him, at least to get my revenge, but i can't find him. He doesnt show up in Tenpenny's balcony too.
Where do i find him?

It's not a quest. There are lots of places like that, cool places with awesome set pieces or just plain weird stuff that have nothing to do with any quest. And... no, you can just fast travel :)

I was scared he was going to die right in front of me the way he was fighting. :lol

It's up to you. I went off and did some more sidequests- when I was done he was back at Rivet City waiting.
 
I've started to really appreciate the game's economy. It's more than simply buying what you want and selling what you don't, it's more like a barter minigame where the object is to get all of the merchant's caps at the end of the deal.

To play this mini-game well first you get the merchant to repair any items you can't repair yourself due to not finding duplicates: armour, rare weapons and the like. This gives the merchant some of your money. Then you buy anything the merchant has that you want. Even the crummiest merchant usually has something decent like Nuka-Kola Quantum, Stimpacks, junk you need for weapon creation, a rare weapon or even a schematic. This gives the merchant some more money.

Even a merchant who only has 100 - 200 caps at the beginning of the transaction are going to have a bigger purse after steps one and two above. Now you can sell anything you've found to the merchant and they will be able to afford it. You can sell the merchant expensive, fully repaired weapons and ammo you won't use. Sell enough to take all the merchant's caps, the money he had and the money you gave him.

By consistantly doing this the money really starts to grow. It also tightens up your kit, a constant exchange of items you don't want with stuff you do. Not only does it improve your characters resources overall but it feels like a real barter session.

What really gets this party started is the Scrounger perk. Collecting additional ammo is a real money maker. My character, for example, doesn't use the energy weapons very much. I still collect tons of energy and microfusion cells. They don't weigh anything and are as good as caps. As well, there is no point in carrying around 200 shotgun cells or 400 rounds of 10mm ammo and with the Scrounger perk, you will get that much. All of that extra ammo becomes a means of taking caps off of merchants so that you can afford anything that comes up.

Hah, it was quite a surprise not getting Xp after level 20. Will be finishing the storyline now.
