Game is wonderful.
I should have done more main quest, but I've been wandering the wastes and there's a lot to do out there. So when I finally went to GNR Radio, the Super Mutants in DC proper were pretty lulsy. I charged at them with my Shiskebab. I think my DR is about 40 now thanks to combat armor, combat helm, toughness, and barkskin. I think you're probably meant to do this pretty early and hide behind Lyons and crew.
Incidentally, Barkskin is only +5 DR, which is lame. Strategy guide / FAQs said +10 DR and +1 Endurance.
The thing right before the radio station is where I had to save and quit last. Can't wait to tackle that.
I also hope I can convince Dogmeat to stay the fuck away. :lol Dogmeat's proven pretty tough so far, but deathclaws nearly owned him, as well deathclaws should, and I'm afraid that thing will hit harder than a deathclaw. At the very least, it has a lot more armor and / or HP.
I'm also quite concerned at the obscene rate I'm levelling up. If this doesn't slow down I'll be at the level cap for much of my exploration. I intend to do everything.
(I'm also a bit concerned about something I forgot to do / didn't do / shouldn't have done - I got Dave voted out from his Republic, and he had some key that didn't do anything, and then Dukov also has a key that doesn't do anything, so I'm thinking they're really important. I also found a door in a National Guard Depot that I simply must open and yet, only 2 of the 5 codes.
Massive timesink, difficult, good curve of difficulty, good scripted events... only complaints are some buggy areas. Oasis in particular was fucked up.
