Well it finally arrived from Amazon, and after 5 or so hours I have to say I'm a little disappointed. Once you leave the vault the game does an absolutely terrible job getting you started. First it sends you straightaway to Moriarty but since you have no caps you can't accept and then he raises the price.
Then there's ammo. What. The. Fuck. I understand it's a nuclear wasteland so realistically ammo wouldn't be plentiful. But unrealistically enemies take loads of shots to down plus you're so inaccurate at the beginning that you go through ammo in a heartbeat and your left to fight off enemies with a baseball bat... fun. And Moira will quickly run out of ammo to sell even if you have the caps to buy.
I don't mind hard games, but I hate games that are hard but don't provide the tools to complete them. Just now I was on my way to the minefield when I was attacked by a dog, probably should have used my bat on him but my health was low so I wanted to kill him quick. Took 5 bullets leaving me with ten. Then I turn around and what do I immediately see? My first super mutant 10 feet away. Great. I just turned off the console.
Oh and the graphics are pretty bad too, but I'm guessing it's the wasteland art style they were going for.
Ugh, I'm just disappointed right now. I'm hoping that once you get past the beginning sections you build up enough ammo to actually go through one single quest without running out, then this game might start to feel like fun instead of work.
Edit: Also ran into a bizarre bug. I would only attack/shoot if I was exiting the pipboy, RT ceased to respond. Had to reboot the game.
