The Official Halo 3: ODST Thread

Awesome thread bro. Thanks, very informative. I really hope this exp is worth 60... I doubt it, but at least I'll have fun playing the campaign and mult.

Are we getting new music for this? Are they completely new tracks or old tracks edited little bit to suit ODST settings? Would be really nice to get new and different music from Marty as good as Halo 1 (IMO) . If not in ODST then in Halo: Reach.

It is all new music.. and wait till you hear it.. it is as un Halo as it can get. (which is good in this case)

All of it (if not, most of it) is brand new music. From what I've heard, it's really great.

BTW, new Forge glitch discovered that will change the way people merge objects. Seriously, anyone interested in Forging maps needs to check it out.
Just tried it out myself. Works pretty well. The only problem I see is that it won't let you push the object past its center point. It was hard as hell to do geomerging in the first place but it was always possible. The thing that was nigh impossible to do was pushing objects past their center point because they'd fall through the map. So it's a bummer this doesn't allow you to do so.

When you exit the control room after defeating GS343, turn immediately left instead of going up the ice bridge. Under the ramp on your left are 4 ghosts.

Eh, it works wonders in the Crypt area though.
 
When is the 2 min 30 sec live action clip supposed to be tonight? I thought it was during Band of Brothers yet my cable guide is showing "Pros Vs. Joes" is on tonight... not Band of Brothers. I'm confused...

Here's what the PR said:

In addition to the online debut of the 90 second short, Halo fans in the United States will be treated to a special, extended two minute 30 second version exclusively on Spike TV on Monday September 7. The extended version will premiere during “Band of Brothers” at 10:30 PM ET/PT.

The short will also be available to download on Xbox LIVE starting September 8.
I guess that means that the 2 minute 30 second version will be up on LIVE on September 8th since the 90 second version has already been put up on LIVE.

I wouldn't want to cause harm to whoever designed those, I'd just want to interrupt them for an entire day at random intervals screaming "CHILD OF MY ENEMY" whenever they try to start a conversation with someone.

It wouldn't have been such a bother if Bungie had given us the option to turn them off.

I lol'd.

They would have been absolutely fine if they didn't interfere with motion and take up so much of the screen. What's so baffling is that Bungie made one of the interruptions just like that (it's in "Cortana", Gravemind speaks just after Cortana does), but they didn't come to the conclusion that ALL of them would have been better off like that specific one. Weird stuffs.

Edit: Below are not ODST spoilers, just non-related comments on the Cortana messages.
In a strange sort-of coincidence, I'm experimenting with messages in a Half-Life 2 mod, and I'm definitely taking some lessons from where Halo 3's system went awry. My current system only inconveniences the player a second or two at most (a white flash that fades out), and then the text is left on the screen for the player to read or ignore (it fades out). Movement isn't affected at any stage.

The 150 second version is up on HBO.
Actually I guess it's just an unfinished version. I don't know.

Regarding the Cortana/Gravemind interruptions: I thought they added to the game on the first playthrough. I really did. It made it so you could see first hand Cortana's rampancy, and you could see how vicious the Gravemind was. Added to the story, for me.

But the second, third, etc. playthroughs? Got annoying.
