Okay, I never said the AR was the worse weapon in the game. I'm sorry if you all misunderstood and got that impression. But it was by far not a great starting weapon. I'm personally a fan of the Battle Rifle, like Luke, and I perceive it to be a better starting weapon whether anyone agrees with me or not.
I've played well over 13,000 games of Halo 2; I understood how to use the Assault Rifle in the Beta and I do not abhor it nor do I love it. I think I'm being reasonable when I say that its a little bit better than the SMG. And just like with the [Halo 2] SMG I found myself running to pick up another weapon at the start of every match to do some owning (preferrably dual Spikers or SMGs). In fact, I often found myself picking up a single SMG (because only one was at the spawn point) and being more successful with that weapon (I loved it in the Beta).
In fact, if it hasn't been changed since its incarnation in the Beta, I'd gladly take that challenge, Frankie. Hell, I'll take that challenge even if it was the Halo 2 SMG.
My problems with the AR start with the ammo clip and end with its range. If it was a tiny bit more accurate as well and had at least 12 more bullets in one clip than it would be much better. But that's my opinion. I'm sorry you all had a problem with me expressing it.
Oh, and...
I will headed to WIN town on Sunday when GameStop can finally sell it to me.

Besides, after playing countless of tedious MLG BR start matches I'm totally sick of it. Everyone starting with the best gun in the game defeats the whole object of having a selection of guns in the game, like what happened with Halo 2.
The entire point of the AR is it isn't as good as other weapons, because you spawn with it!

Soooo... Halo 3 will be my first Halo experience. I'll be playing co-op with 3 other dudes who also have no idea about the franchise. Anyone care to sum up the story of the first two games so we actually know what the hells going on when we first set foot in the game? Just a very basic outline.
I've never been a console fps fan. But you can't go wrong with 4 player co-op. I'm looking forward to it.
