Comicshelf HD works flawlessly, save for the annoying interface that you apparently cannot hide and blocks the top and bottom of the page being viewed.

Just tap the screen, it goes away. lol

Where are people getting this supposed SNES emulator from? Finally got 3.0.2 and all the speed boosts installed and this thing is pretty damn snappy now. Also, I don't see ComicShelf in Preware but seeing as its only $2 I'll prob just pick it up from the webstore

Can somebody explain where Comicshelf is in preware? No problem buying it if it works, but the reports of serious glitches make me want to give it a try first.

Its in the official store, for free.

You can just tap the screen to dismiss or bring back the overlay.

So, when the emulator inevitably goes away, is there a place I can get it besides the official store? I'm really hoping it doesn't, but I'd love a backup of some sort.

Are there any sheet music readers? My Casio has gone unused for a while. I figure it would be a lot easier to put this on the stand rather than my old laptop.

Is there anyway to log out of the Facebook app? I don't want to see my Facebook photos when I go to the Touchpad's "Photos and Videos"

I've been using PDF files and just loading them through the included adobe app.

This is genius. I wish there was an app that splits a midi into sheet music just like Melody Assistant for PC.

Hopefully there is an Android app that does this.

Found that pReader Native, even in alpha, works much better than the "stable" pReader, which wouldn't import my EPUBs from Calibre.

Ok I am just trying this thing out and can't find a Kindle App on the Store? I thought it was already out. What's the deal?

Like someone mentioned it's on the marketplace under "SuperNES" and it's free. Here's the steps if you need help.

  1. Go to marketplace and download "SuperNES"
  2. Plug the Touchpad into your computer with USB, when it pops ip press USB drive on the Touchpad.
  3. Unzip the folder and move the file into the /SNES/Roms folder on the Touchpad
  4. Launch "SuperNES" and play the games.

It's really easy, also you may want to go into the settings and change the skin so it has a better controller layout. I use skin 2 titled "jjcitron".

CyReN, thanks, I did find the emulator. You should probably edit out the website (which is the one I used as well, ha) from your post - not sure if you're allowed to post links to ROM sites.

Thanks for the tip about changing the skin!

Probably a region lock thing. I can't download it either. HP is really dumb about their region locking, half the cool apps don't show up for me.

Yea good idea ha, hope it helps guys. Got 18 games on my Touchpad and it's under 30mb, going to be a lot of fun the next few days.

well that would be pretty stupid. Is there maybe a way around that with homebrew?

Dude just take that out. Don't risk a ban, anyone that wants to do find out about emulation on the Touchpad should just Google it.

I'm still baffled that you can't charge the device through USB. I can't even charge it with the standard Apple charger either...you need to use the actual dock to charge it. Very poor design, in this case.

Is pReader Native a good app or just an okay app?

I ask because a big reason I wanted a TouchPad was to be able to look at the ePub documents I've been working on from a tablet rather than just on my phone or computer.

If pReader isn't good enough for this task, I might sell my TouchPad off and buy a used iPad, as I know it's easy to drag and drop ePub files into iTunes and sync with iBooks.

Serviceable, for a free app. No page turning animation, books are slow to load into the library, you have to reload the book whenever you change settings. The dev is still updating it, though.

Anyone found a good cheap case for these? The official ones are either out of stock or the price seems up and still too high. I imagine it soon will be rare to even find a screen protector and case.

Interesting editorial on ThisIsMyNext: The $99.99 TouchPad phenomenon, in your words.

On the other hand, other commentators think there is nothing to gleaned from this phenomenon.

I'm just finding it amusing that so many people are jumping now jumping on a webos device for its potential (to run android, windows 8 and/or get better apps etc).

The way I look at it, a lot of people just wanted a tablet, but didn't want to pay $500 for an iPad, or slightly less for a less impressive android model.

That is my motivation anyway. I plan to sit on the couch, watching baseball/football/whatever, while surfing the internet on this thing. If the app support gets better (or if Android gets ported) I may use it to control my computer (like I do with TeamViewer on the iPhone sometimes).

Take this with a grain of salt, but someone on another forum claims that a Griffin Elan Folio (original iPad model) fits it fine. It's $10 with free shipping on Verizon Wireless's site in the US. If you want to spend more, the official case was discounted a bit on HP's official store (down to $35 I think, last I checked. No idea how much shipping is though.)

I'll let you guys know if the Elan Folio works well on Thursday when I get my Touchpad.

good god, if i actually get my touchpad from onsale, and i can successfully read comic books, surf the net and watch porn, I might have to sell my ipad 2 :)

and then buy the ipad 3 when my touchpad fails (or not)

VanMardigan

has calmed down a bit.
I had looked into a tablet, but I didn't want to spend $500. I had the Asus Transformer in my sights, but I think that next year will be an overall better time to buy a tablet. Retina iPad, Windows 8, and next-gen Android tablets. So, for $99, this will hold me nicely until next year.

I noticed that whenever I woke up my touchpad and tried to surf the net, it wouldn't always load, or it would load super slow, so I changed the wi-fi settings > sleep mode to 'when device sleeps, turn wi-fi off ' and it seems to work much better. Just thought I'd share in case anyone else wa having similar issues.

How is the battery life on it, Touch-GAF?

I've read a lot of different numbers. First 12 hours, then 10, then I just read 5 on BB's forums.
I've used it for about 45min so far today on minimal brightness, starting the day with it being fully charged. Currently at 97%.

I was only using the internet. No videos or music.

That just indicates that the battery meter isn't properly calibrated. The charge will start to go down faster. It calibrates itself on a full charge (from 0 to 100).

I'm guessing most of the touchpad cases don't come w/ screen protectors.

Anyone have a link to a cheap screen guard?

So I can't download the 3.0.2 system update for some reason. It's stuck on the downloading bar for a while, and then it says it can't be downloaded at this time? Anybody else have this issue?

prob just use this url and have it as a bookmark

I think the resolution is too high, it auto-kicks to the regular NeoGAF page. It says in his About that that will happen if you try to visit it on a desktop so thats my guess.

Its a slow, sketchy process... Possibly because the servers are getting hammered. It took me multiple attempts to get the DL going, and then a long time to download and install. It did eventually complete though.
