Vanguard Storm is another game that ignores the mute switch! It can go to hell.

That Wolfenstein RPG tease from a few days ago hurt bad. I want it so bad! I want it now
. :(

Same. I assumed it must be close to release but I can find nothing on the interwebs about it.

It is close most likely but you should never take an Itunes link to a product where you get that "not available" pop-up as a true indication of a imminent release in and of itself. Those sometimes get placed up for games a good deal before release in a few cases that I remember of.

A few more details on the Tony Hawk story

Chavez said that they let Activision know that the game was ready for quality assurance testing if they wanted it but suspects that unless there is a large outcry for the game, it won't likely make it to the App Store.

He reports that there may be some confusion as there will be a new Tony Hawk game that is to be detailed tomorrow. Chavez says, "There may be a feeling that this may cause confusion with the new title but I believe the Tony Hawk fans & gamers (both iPhone & console) would love to own both."

He explains more about the details in the video itself (which is no longer available):
Some of the glitchyness on the demo were strictly because of compressing/loading into the editing software. The cuts showing player X were only to better illustrate the accelerometer use and while he was actually playing, this was shot separate from the over-the-shoulder angle. That's why on those scenes the headphone wire was not plugged in and the close-ups of the screen did have the wire connected. It was plugged directly into the camera so the sound heard was exactly what you would hear with headphones. The need for player X to keep his head cocked sideways and minimize movement in order to get the best video display is the reason for the less-than-stellar runs and not because the game mechanics are too difficult. Also, the buttons on screen are there for the 1st time player (left on for the demo) and there is the ability to toggle them off and just touch the corresponding quadrants of the screen thereby giving a cleaner view.

That looks and sounds familiar... Holy shit, I invented that game in 2007! And Plants vs Zombies is similar? I invented a GENRE! ... That makes two. This is exciting for me. One more and a I get a free six inch sub!

Congrats dude! Might have to give this game a stab.

Our game made it into 'What's Hot' on the App Store today, and now we're in the top 100 puzzles too!

OH SHIIIIIIIIIIIT. Man I'm crossing my balls.

Thanks Stoney. I wonder why that occurs?

Hey! I was right about Resident Evil :) Looks like I got a insider source at Capcom :lol

I have from very good sources that they also have this running on the iPhone. Not saying that it will ever get released for it but one can always hope.

One dev mentioned why it happened in their case a while back on Touch Arcade. In that specific case it involved a wrong date being used on some paper work and a game being falsely uploaded with an old build. The game was removed but once the actual link is in place in the system it stays. I'm not saying that's what happened in the case of Wolf RPG but I assume it sorts of means that it can happen in a few different ways.

Activition Will have its own show at some point displaying its iPhone games. I'm sure Blizzard would love people to play remote WoW. One step above a key authenticator.

They might just be playing it conservatively like everyone else. EA already had mobile developers. Look at the Wii. Everyone is just now noticing that it might be a good idea to have a balance of products out there and get them in as many "consoles" and distribution paths as possible. Not just focusing on a single home console but a wide variety of machines.

Considering Activision now owns Vivendi and therefore Sierra, you could see a low of low-fi stuff finally get ported to a handheld.

Hell, Vivendi only ever released Crash Nitro Kart 3D on iPhone - and it's still one of the top sellers on the platform. Then Activision stepped it and (I assume) stopped production, much like the Sierra XBLA games.

They were initially quite slow on the XBLA uptake too. They only released DOOM, Vigilante 8 and Golf: Tee It Up. Now we know COD1 and Wolfenstein 3D are definitely on their way.

Could you imagine if they start putting stuff like a port of River Raid up for 99c? :lol

Everyone needs to buy Drop7 and Peggle. SOOOOOOOO awesome. I never played Peggle until last night and it only took about 5 minutes for the addiction to grab me.

And Drop7--oh Drop7--when the game clicks in your head, you realize the game is completely brilliant and worth so much more than its low price. Just wow.

It's just...the numbers...they elude me.

Ok, had a decent go of the new "The Creeps!".

What can I say? This is like a major addition - nearly like a sequel. Actually, while I'm on this point, I'm happy to pay for updates, but I'd prefer developers to update an existing app rather than release a 'No.2'. Obviously, this makes more sense in 3.0.

Back to The Creeps!. The additions move this game from very fun and a great game to pretty much a must have.

Before, this game was a very solid TD game. It was straight forward, had great presentation, and worked really well. The graphics were real charming, and after the addition of sound, that charm went up exponentially. Gameplay-wise the only thing differentiating this from other TD games was the on map obstacles that you had to destroy, giving you extra money, but also was a requirement to creating space to build. This distinction made it nearly a puzzle game, where you balance your attacks between destroying enemies and creating space.

The update gives you more levels, new enemies, and a tighter gameplay experience (the developer has thought about small balancing elements). Layouts of the menus and high scoreboards have been improved.

Other major enhancements include:

- a couple of new towers (the paper shuriken is great! - something I appreciate about The Creeps! is that the towers are both fun, varied (but not overwhelming), and feel great to use). These really mix up the game - I like both if the additions.

- three difficulty levels. Normal is fun enough, but tough if you want to try and get 'perfects'. Although I haven't tried hard yet, I imagine it will be quite challenging. The high scoreboards now have a badge to indicate what level you played - not sure how the points are affected by difficulty just yet, but playing for points is actually a fun thing to do (I'm not normally a score junky, unless the scores really feel like I did something to get them). Overall the addition of difficulties feels like you can play the game three times, adding immensely to replay value.

- a double speed mode. This is a God send. The game works without it, but is fantastic with it. You can keep it on for 'added challenge' (although I find it a bit hard to target creeps when it's so fast). The main point is, you can speed up those bits when you KNOW you're not going to do anything, thus fitting in more play time. You can pause the game and place towers so the game is not 'frantic' like geo defense (which nearly gets arcadey at some points) - anytime, if it's going nuts, you can just pause and reorganise yourself.

- badges - basically rewards for each level. Adds hugely to gameplay, as you try and get all the badges for every level (one for killing all enemies, one for destroying all obstacles, one displaying the difficulty) - these are shown next to your scores and also displayed over each level. I'm not sure if the ones displayed over the level is a cumulative thing, or just the badges you got on the high score.

- Supposedly, the game has 50% less power consumption. If true, this is a great improvement! I wish more developers made these kinds of enhancements.

- the new help screen is really great.

- in addition to the endurance mode (basically unlimited mode, which has seen several upgrades in difficulty including this version), unlockable when completing each level, a new 'Door Buster' mode is in. This makes you play the game all over again, as it's quite different, but still fun. In this mode, your score starts at a certain point and counts down with time. Your aims is to destroy the door that is the entry point of the enemies - basically a time attack mode. It's refreshing and from what I have tried, a great addition to make you go back and replay levels. You'll probably need a very different strategy, especially if you want to get all the badges and keep your score high.

There are other improvements to gameplay, such as more balanced rules to the endurance mode, but overall, the additions to this already great game have made it so much better, it's hard not to recommend it at any price.

I brought flashback last night and given it about an hours playtime so far, such a classic game for me and the touch screen controls work well once you become use to the way the dpad works, I would prefer to have the buttons on the right side but I can play it as it is.

I also tried to play Iron Sight online but not a single game was available, I never had an online wireless connection until now but it's a shame that most of the online games I own have no one playing only a month after it was released.

Hillbilly had decent recent views but I would just wait for Doom or LiveFire.

PANDEMONIUM! is now available worldwide!!!

http://www.itunes.com/apps/pandemonium

Insta-buy for me, loved this game on the PSX. Seems to be a port of the N-Gage version a few years back? I guess that's why it's still buy Ideaworks3D, anyway.

Controls are a little janky; it uses on-screen buttons which don't have a very big area, so you have to be quite specific. Framerate is a little choppy, too. They also seem to have chopped the levels up into very small chunks, which I don't remember from the original, some levels are literally 5 seconds. :lol

However, core game is still great, only £1.79, buy it!

Yeah, it's being really weird.

That link says the game is not available in the UK. I search in iTunes, it's there in the results but says it's not available in UK when I click it.

I downloaded it through App Store -- try searching on there.

However, I have just tried to write a review and it says I haven't bought the game? WTF??

Guess it is taking a while to populate the interwebs.

Bought Peggle. Never been a big fan (I've played a couple of stages when I installed it for my mum), but I think it would be a perfect game for a mobile platform such as the iPhone. So yeah...

I'll 'review' it tonight.

btw Peggle will get a music update in the future. They annoyingly removed it to fit under the 10 MB limit so you can download it without a wifi connection. :(

EDIT: Although technically the game was 10.2 MB when it was released so maybe this isn't true. Read it off of a post on touch arcade.

Yeah. We had to do the same. We had a really sweet jazz track and some mental head spinning Orbital-style track that just had to go. Everything else had to get downsampled too :(

Bloody 10MB 3G limit....

I expect it could change when the Verizon deal gets announced, or 3.0 comes out.

Is it a wifi limit though? I thought it was just 3G. Is it important to go under? Do a lot of people buy apps from their phone? I don't think I have ever.

I only buy apps on the phone itself. I'm not sure why, it's just how I roll. Anything over 10MB, I wait until I get home and download off the Wifi.

I've never bought a single app in iTunes. Phone only.

Same here, after one of the newer iTunes updates that slowed the entire program all to hell, I stopped using it almost entirely syncing my phone with a load of apps seems to take forever, although I haven't tried lately.

On another note, I really really hope Activision changes their minds about THPS2, easily my favorite game in the series, and it still brings back fond memories playing the hell outta that game in high school on the Dreamcast :D . I would pay at least $10 for that, but I would hope they would feel generous and put it out at $5.

I'm not seeing anything to be really excited about for Zenonia, except for the fact that it's on a system starved for a good RPG.

Zenonia impressions:

+Cute art
+cute music
+attractive price
+responsive controls, but I'm a big fan of being able to touch anywhere, not on virtual buttons like they have here

-Repetitive hack and slash "HIYAAs" and sword noises
-gameplay repetitive but if you are a fan of Secret of Mana or other hack n slash games, its pretty solid.
-Unimaginative invornments
-Bland/generic story and character designs
-choppy frame rate

edit: Yeah I bet pop-cap is kicking themselves for not being able to get Peggle down to less than 10 MB. It helps a lot for impulse sales. I know if I see a game that looks cool, is cheap, and I can download on 3G im like F YEAH FEELS GOOD MAN.

I think most people are generally just hoping for a relatively solid RPG on a system with a lack of them. I have no illusions nor do most people that it will be the next Chronotrigger.

Interesting. I ONLY buy apps in iTunes. The main reason for my madness is that I like the apps to have a version number in the file name. The apps on the iPhone don't have a version number in the file name, so when you sync back, it has no version number in the file name, whereas apps downloaded through iTunes have version numbers in the file name.

Not to mention, I don't have a data plan anyway, so I have no 3G internet access.

Another positive impression for Crystal Defenders: Vanguard Storm. very well developed game the suits the platform great. I played until my battery died, so that's a ringing endorsement. Definitely try the lite version though, it's not for everyone.

Is there no way to save/resume in Vanguard Storm? I've had to quit out of the game once during a level, and I've also just selected "Return to Title" once from in-game, and both times it just dumps me to the main menu and makes me start over.

Actually, that sounds very believable. They *tried* to get it under 10 MB...but something Apple doesn't tell developers: the file gets larger when they encrypt it. Your app actually has to be around 9.3MB as submitted to Apple to fit under the 10MB limit. So their app *was* under 10MB...until it went up in the store.

Personally, I think it's foolish, especially for a full game - I'd bet at least 95% iPhone owners only ever download stuff over Wifi when downloading on the device itself. It's the *demo* that needs to be small.

My game(http://starrideiphone.blogspot.com/) was rejected.... because I used a Safari icon in the Credits screen.
I want to kick my own ass :D

I'm surprised they even checked the Credits screen. I think I'll put a message for the Apple testers in the credits of my next game!

BTW, great to see a game really embrace the Zapfino font. I've wanted to use it, but my company always thinks it's too hard to read...
