Just when I think I am finished with Geo-Defense, I break through and beat another level, and the grind of dying over and over figuring out the next level begins all over again. Love this game.

I doubt that many 3gs only games will be released that soon. Doing so cuts out many millions of potential customers.

In that case, it negates the value of a 3GS, if it won't have games using it's far more powerful GPU and moderately more powerful CPU.

I read somewhere that it will be possible to build games that scale up the graphics when played on the 3GS.

This should work easily. Cant a app already tell if you are on a certain platform or not? If so it should be simple to see that the user is playing on a 3GS and bump certain settings up, or do more shit, ect.

I find it to be a huge clusterfuck online... not really worth even the $1 imo. It lags, the control kinda sucks and movement is so fast that aiming is near impossible. I really just run back and forth and mash attack and eventually die.

I think most people play like I do, but there is always one guy on each server that knows how to play and has over twice the amount of kills as anyone else. I bet THAT guy on each server is having fun.

:lol :lol

I bought it anyway since it's only a buck, but I won't be able to play it until the 19th. I'll lower my expectations.

Exactly, it's really no different than building a game for PC, only you know you're only dealing with two specs. I'm expecting to see some neat stuff pretty quickly, if not immediately.

Technically 3, the iPod Touch 2G is faster than the iPhone 3G, but not as powerful as the iPhone 3GS.

True, but those are fairly close specs. The 3GS is looking like a big jump going by that Anandtech article.

I'm defitinitely in the meh camp. The graphics aren't too bad but that doesn't excite me at all.

Which reminds me: I know the general consensus is that Prey sucks...are there any good FPSes?

Meh. I'd rather have the original Doom.

WHERE'S MY DOOM>?

I didn't like the controls all that much for Wolf 3D (I tried the LitE), but I will probably still buy doom.

It's DOOM.

DOOM.

It's very disappointing to me that developers keep trying to shoehorn FPS's onto the iPhone when RPG's make better sense.

Why is this not Doom RPG 2? SMH

I got Rolando today from Best Buy for free, love it so far, it's very clever.

I think I am going to buy Star Defense soon.

Doom looks pretty cool. It looks like they sacrificed texture quality to bump up polygon counts and get it running smoothly, a good trade off I think. Hopefully it controls well. I didn't try that Prey game, but it didn't look like it controlled well at all.

I'm kind of surprised by the lack of Defender Chronicles (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=318339007&mt=8) talk. It's a brutally difficult side scrolling twist on the tower defense genre that's been pretty much consuming me for the past day. The level design is interesting in that it's basically a vertical environment that you scroll around and build defense towers ("guilds," in this game's parlance) to take out the monsters before they your base. Think Donkey Kong in reverse.

What really hooked me, though, is the RPG elements in the game. Your base is guarded by a hero who levels up by gaining experience. You can also buy gear to enhance your hero's stats. Some of the gear I've seen also affects the towers you build as well; I have a hat that increases my hero's attack power while also giving an attack power boost to the melee towers I build while he has it equipped.

I really love Star Defense but, at $2.99, I think Defender Chronicles is probably the better value if you're gaming on a budget.

Just make sure you turn the voices off. The VA in this game is the worst I've heard since the PSX era.

You're seeing the controls, its a rail shooter... With what seems to be "Reload" "Change Weapon" "Fire" and some mysterious "Action" button.

What gives Carmack? I thought you liked fast paced action games with a simple premise? I thought you were working on something awesome behind the scenes with all this talk of the iPhone being a revoloutionary platform and all. Seems as though I gave them an extra Wolfenstien purchase for nothing, as I bought it under the pretenses that I'd get an awesome new (or at least mp enabled old) id game. Hopefully there will be a free trial to change my mind.

On a more positive note, seeing the talk of scaling the app to a specific phone, sounds a bit (although theoretically a much simpler scale) like what Carmack is doing with the RAGE engine and scaling to consoles/PCs of various specs. I haven't quite lost my faith in the amateur rock scientist yet.

There's been so many games released lately that I forgot about Defender Chronicles.

That's definitely on my list next time I buy a 2.99 game.

I think a good railer shoot is a great idea on iphone. The touchscreen isnt made for FPS.

Peggle 99 cents = my fingers automatically hit the purchase button :D

I love the constant sales in the iPhone App store.

Thank you sir for bringing this to my attention, just purchased it myself!

I'm glad I stayed on the fence about this purchase (Yep..), awesome sale deal.

So...are your apps linked to your phone/ipod or are they linked to your itunes account?
I just returned my 3G for a 3GS. If I buy Peggle, will I be able to use it on my new phone?
How does that work?

To your iTunes account. You just associate your second phone to your itunes (&account) as well and it should load everything.

I'm under the impression that the movement is accelerator based and it's touch to shoot. Why would you assume it's on-rails? Unless i've missed something...

I accidentally deleted all my apps. $75 dollars worth of mostly games and other apps. :'(

Fucking C drive having less space than the D drive, things were lost in the move because I am an idiot. I emailed Apple asking to redownload them all again, I hope this can be fixed smoothly.

Also thanks for the Peggle update, I'll definitely pick it up.

Long as you are logged into the account you paid for them with you can redownload them all for free, but you will have to find each one.

I lost my app's too the other month, if you log into your itunes account you can see your purchase history and get a list from there.

Hey guys (and gals),

I posted my review of Exorcist yesterday.

This title utilizes both the touch and accelerometer capabilities of the iPhone/iPod Touch quite well and features worldwide online rankings. Exorcist is limited to only one game mode, though because of this it becomes a great short-session game.

exorcist01.jpg

It is difficult for me to award Exorcist an above-average score simply because there is not a whole lot to it. What is there however is refined and well done and I’ve enjoyed the time I’ve spent with the game quite a bit. I find myself getting a bit farther every time I play and the action is fast enough to keep me playing when I lose; a good sign for any puzzle game. Exorcist is most enjoyable in short sessions and is perfect for a short bus or train ride.

App Store Link

Currently $0.99, regularly $1.99

Edit: I tried it on a 99 cent game and after the warning about charging my credit card, the box about re-downloading for free comes up. Slightly confusing but awesome.

Thanks for the help, now I feel stupid emailing Apple.
