I'm enjoying Defender Chronicles at the moment, bloody hard though. The worst part is the absolutely awful voice work. My god, don't get the Janitor who can't speak English to do all the voices himself.

Hahah yeah the voicework is laugh out loud bad, but the game is awesome.

yeah I bought EDGE the other day from the Australian store.

Edge and Edge Lite still appear to be available from the NZ store.
How weird: not only is it still available on the french AppStore (which is very cool), but it's featured on its frontpage right now:

Incidentally, how is the new Riceboy Sleeps cd?

Just bought Draw Race. A nice little racing game ala Flight Control, where you draw the path of the car with your finger before the race.
0.99$/0.79€, so no risk ^^

Much more subtle than I thought, very nice idea !

It is possible that they have kept it up on the "foreign" stores as the Edge trademark claim might only be for the US.

I like it, but man is it weird, it's 100% ambient, think earlier Sigur Rós albums (Ágætis Byrjun) except with barely any singing.

If you want them for a tryout, I have both DLCs (Riceboy Sleeps and the All Animals EP bonus) (I bought the special edition box and both are included)
(the All Animals DLC kinda blows though, not on the music which is good, but the tagging is not, and they used the Riceboy cover art instead of All Animal's even though All Animal's cover art is gorgeous)
(you can also listen to Riceboy Sleeps on the official website btw: http://jonsiandalex.com/music)

I love Ágætis Byrjun, but no singing sounds like it could be... interesting, to say the least. I'll definitely check it out on the website- thanks for the link!

If you want the 320k mp3 DLC (esp. All Animals), drop me an MP

Just bought it tonight, played a game. It is the most realistic baseball game I have played on iPhone. That's not saying much, but it's fun. You can switch your line-ups, set your defense, decent pitch selections, lots of options. I set fielding to semi auto, and I didn't have to do anything, which I didn't like. I'd definitely say it's worth it.
Thanks for the quick impressions. Sounds like I will be downloading it today!

Wow, fuck this guy (fuckwit that owns the rights to the word Edge) is a total wanker. I was lucky enough to have bought it when it first came out, it's very unfortunate for people who won't get to play this amazing little game.

It's unfortunate for me, who payed for the game, but since my iPhone crashed after a PC format, I can no longer redownload it.

I'm done downloading any paid content off the app store for a while, until they fix my access to content I already PAID for.

In this precise case, it's not really Apple's fault.

Yes it is. It's all about Apple not making paid content easily accessible. Hell, even content that I can redownload is hard to get, since I didn't write down the name of everything I paid for.

If I buy a game on Steam, it's added to my games like and I can easily redownload it.

Why don't you go into your account in iTunes and look at your purchase history?

How do I go about getting my apps that I have paid for onto my girlfriend's Touch? Is it as simple as taking her iPod and synching only the apps from my iTunes that I want on her machine? Then her iTunes will download those the next time she synchs on her own account? We have separate iTunes accounts, if that makes any difference.

Is anyone else digging Harbor Master more than Flight Control?

I really dig the loading/unloading mechanic. Adds one more spinning plate to the formula.

You're talking about content which doesn't exist anymore as far as they're concerned. Edge is gone (for the time being at least) from the AppStore.

Good thing your purchase history is available then (Store > View My Account > something something history). It's not the sexiest history ever, but it works if you just want a listing.

That's true, Steam is pretty cool for that.

Top Gun seems to be reduced to 59p but from reading the reviews it sounds rough around the edges with minor update support. Game bombed I guess.

Game has over 2000 reviews which is generally the water mark for decent to good sales and it was a top 10 game for quite awhile. Unless the game had an insane budget it didn't bomb.

Yeah, I actually play a lot more Harbor Master, especially with the new Cannon Beach level. I love the addition of the pirates. What should we call this type of game? Flight Control genre? Flight Control, Harbor Master, Sea Captain, Coast Guard are all good. Airport Mania is a nice variation, too.

From the 50 latest reviews I read on my ipod most of them were saying controls suck, still at least they made money right? :S

Any World War players here? I need two or three allies so I'm not at the bottom of the tier I'm on. :D Alliance code: NSBD72

This game is getting addictive. >___<

My girlfriend and I share apps as well and it's one of the things I like about iTunes, although the process is kind of clunky.

Sign onto her computer with your iTunes account and authorize it. Then just poke through the app store and redownload anything you've already purchased - I hate how it still brings you through the 'are you sure you want to buy this?' even though you damn well have, as it's kind of unnerving. There should also be an easier way to download everything, like a list of purchased apps or something.

Anyway, then just drag them to her iPod or check them to be synched or however she does it. The only hiccup is that if she updates anything via the portable app store it will prompt for your password, but that can be skipped and it will still update any apps she has purchased or downloaded.

First, authorize her computer to your account (allowing her to access videos and apps linked to it). You have to do this, period.

If you want to just copy from your computer, just go into your iTunes folder, into the Mobile Applications folder, and copy any apps (.ipa) files to her computer. Drag the files onto the iTunes icon on her machine and iTunes will import it automatically. Have her sync her iPod and she can use the apps. Also works for video.

An alternative approach is to just log in using your account on her iTunes. She should be able to redownload any apps you have paid for at no cost. Does not work with video.

WARNING: Though iTunes will warn you when you are about to redownload an app you've already paid for, it doesn't warn you when buying NEW apps. My wife tried this approach and ended up buying $30 worth of apps accidentally, because she can't tell the difference between Rolando and Rolando 2. To be fair, a few of those apps were my own apps and she didn't realize that the ones on my iPod were dev versions that I didn't get through iTunes.

Finally! After months of lurking I can post!

Just want to say thank you all for all the recommendations in this thread. It has caused me to spend far more money on my iPod than I should have, lol.

I'm diggin' I dig it. I kind of wish there where different levels or a bigger map though. Pretty cool when you reach the center of the earth! :D

+1. I would have been disappointed if I had paid more than .99 for it, even though it is an extremely beautiful game.

I'm loving Defender Chronicles- I think it's my favorite iPhone game.

Thinking about grabbing TowerLand while it's at .99...

I brought my iPod Touch over to a friend's house who has one, and he doesn't know what's wrong, either. Although he did show me some more apps to download in case mine ever works again. I tried resetting the settings and deleting then undeleting an app once I got home, but that didn't work, either.

graphically it is quite impressive. i wouldnt mind a fps view model and being able to see the portals being shot, but otherwise i would b v happy with it

Damn! It actually does look very nice.

It seems to be a port/level clone and not just a gameplay clone. Not sure how I feel about that...I mean, I'll still pick it up but they should do some new stuff.

awesome thread, and thought I'd add a note of a quality free (temporarily?) game app:

very simple but has better design and gameplay overall than most free things I've come across.

If you know about Chess With Friends, their new game is out, Words With Friends (free ad supported version as well), aka Scrabble.

(re: Top Gun) It controls fine, except if you calibrate while the phone is vertical/near vertical, for whatever reason the control boundaries get screwed up when you do that.

Otherwise it's just a rail shooter, if they were complaining about not being able to control the plane more that might be why. You just control where the plane is on screen basically, kind of like After Burner.

If you want full 3D flight there's FAST which is decent. It depends what type of plane game you want.

5838 on WordFu. New high score. I'm happy with it, but feel that I let a 7 or 8000 point round slip away. I got careless at the end and flicked a few tiles I didn't mean to flick. Cost me a ton of words. Ah well.

Following Apple's quarterly earnings conference calls, not much on the AppStore (:() but there's this gem:

source: http://www.appleinsider.com/article...om_apples_q309_quarterly_conference_call.html

Here is the full quote which unfortunately slightly contradicts the first point with the second point

Apple "does have some ideas" on how to avoid the race to the bottom in terms of iPhone app prices, and may categorize them differently in the future. However, as the install base grows, it makes more sense for developers to sell at lower prices. It's up to them to set the price.

I suppose it's a positive sign they have at least acknowledged the issue although I'd like to see something more telling and informative than "we have some ideas". I have ideas. They should have something more concrete and a plan of action.
