Beneath a Steel Sky will likely be my next purchase. But I just bought "Zenonia" based on the screens and user reviews which seemed very positive. This and GTA China Town Wars should keep me busy for the time being. Must say, Apple are making a killing off of me lol.

But I refuse to jailbreak as it's important we support these developers. Thinking of making an app of my own sometime soon.

Jailbreaking is more than pirating apps. You can still buy apps, and reap the benefits of JB.

And is NOVA worth it? What about the best racing game?
NOVA is definitely the best FPS I've played on the iPhone, and it even has online multiplayer versus too (even though it kinda sucks). And Gameloft just came out with a racing game that's supposed to be aces, so either that one or Real Racing I'd imagine.

Jailbreaking, at least for me, is about adding helpful features to the phone that the developers of the OS (Apple) refuse to add, such as SBSettings and Winterboard. Beyond that, I buy all my iTunes Store apps. ^_^

It's not just you. New Zealand is the first country in the world to see a new day, so a release that is scheduled for the 15th will release now.
lucky kiwi bastards. yet another reason to move there...

California Gold Rush 2 has been released at $2.99.

I am very confused on what I should do...
I loved the first game... until they patched it, removed my save and added in-app DLC that used to be free before the patch. For which Digital Chocolate should be banned by the pope for.

But...

sob.

look at his nice little moustache...
Fuck this developer. I will never buy another game they put out.

I buy a game, they remove content from the game after I buy it, then fuck up my saved game while doing so?

Hell no, never doing that shit again.

Played the flash demo and was impressed... GAF hype prevails
Of PvZ? Be ashamed man, it was legitimately one of the best games of last year, and that's being honest. Download and enjoy! Honestly, I need an iTunes card, stat. I really want to throw some money Popcap's way for that masterpiece.

I haven't played or heard anything about this game, but I am soooo buying just based on it's critical acclaim and how great Peggle for the iPod Touch was.

Has anybody from the gaming press or a blogger talked to them and gotten the "story" behind it?
I'm surprised how the little coverage this stunt they pulled have gotten.
Please post some links if you know of any websites that have brought this up.

Or is the iPhone-game coverage really as biased as I think they are, with no option for critizing developers and publishers?

I'm kind of disappointed that PvZ isn't fully featured like the original versions. I've already finished the game and most of the mini games and puzzles, would've doubled dipped but I'll just wait until it's inevitably on a 99c sale, if at all.

Rad game though, highly recommend it.

PvZ rocks. very cool, first time playing it, shame some modes are missing.

Finally played a bit of Beneath a Steel Sky as well, better than I expected but man does some of it feel annoying i.e. characters getting in your way, backtracking etc. broken sword next.

It's $3. Is it really that big of a deal that they cut some modes out of a $20 game to sell it for $3?

They could add the modes in later as paid DLC and it's still a great deal.

Only a big deal because I don't particularly want to play through the main game again, it doesn't have the same replayability that Peggle has. I think that the mini games and puzzles help a lot.

Of course if you've never played it it's not an issue.

Game coverage in general seems to be full of cock sucking, may just be worse with the iPhone cause the review sites are pretty young and are afraid of pissing off the bigger publishers.

Still that was a pretty big and avoidable fuckup (other apps have moved to a DLC format without screwing previous buyers), so I'm surprised too that it didn't cause more of a shitstorm.

I'm still pissed about OpenFeint sucking ass myself. I asked a guy on Touch Arcade if he could ask about that, there's some event coming up where he may have the opportunity to do so. Hopefully he comes through.

spent some time on toucharcade yesterday and went through their 'games of the year' list and picked up a few i'd missed.

Spider, hook champ, space invaders infinity gene and GTA

Spider is ok, but not that amazing. Did a whole bunch of levels and its not grabbing me. (BTW, stuck on the water tank if anyone can help..)

Hook champ is a lot of fun, played a ton of that and will play a lot more. Can see it becoming a firm favourite.

Space invaders is fun but a bit mental.

Not played GTA. not really a fan generally, but mainly bought as it was on sale and i'm curious about a 'bigger' game on ipod touch.

will buy PvZ asap

What does the other version of PvZ have that the iPhone version doesn't? I really like it so far.
It has made me interested in Peggle.

I can't bring myself to finish Space Miner! I love it...

Resident Evil 4: for beginners :lol

It's like a lite but you get the first 2 chapters and some game modes for 59p / 99c and then you can buy the rest of the game in DLC chunks. But why oh why did they call it for beginners??? rather off putting name.

*edit* I love the sound effects in Angry Birds :lol

We dont like zombies on the lawn!!!!!

Ill be Triple dipping on PvZ once it hits XBLA , game is so good!! (have it on PC and now iPhone)

Edit: never mind, didn't see the main thread in gaming. I never look at the gaming front page :lol

Street-Fighter-IV-Picture.jpeg

Set to arrive in the App Store sometime next month, Street Fighter IV is no quick port, hastily tossed at the iPhone in the name of getting a mobile version out on the streets. Capcom has apparently taken the iPhone conversion of their brawler quite seriously. They've spent months perfecting the on-screen virtual control systems, alone, realizing that the game demands highly precise controls for true mastery. And, despite the iPhone's diminutive screen, visual assets have been taken directly from the existing, high-resolution games. The character models are reportedly the same as in the other versions, only slightly scaled down, and with little color or detail loss, to speak of.

Bought PvZ. I used to by lots of iPhone games but PvZ is one of the few games I've bought since Peggle or Civilization Revolution...

There are just too many games to keep up, is there a list of GAF-recommended games?

Get Angry Birds and Swords & Poker... both are recent games I learned about from GAF and put a lot of time into each. Not sure the price now, but I got both for $0.99.

I am amazed how the iPhone/Touch is truly becoming a legitimate gaming console. Those who don't own one can dismiss it but wow. SF4, Plants vs Zombies, GTA, COD, et al. WOW!

These and Space Miner. All excellent!

Not getting the Plants V Zombie love, seems like a pretty generic (yet stylish) TD game. What am I missing?

The App Store is filled with great TD games, this one just seems boring - it's just so simple :/

Yeah, either you haven't played very far yet, or it's not for you. I play a TON of TD games, this is one of the best.
