If this is the wrong place to ask then just say, but I have been slowly working on a racing game app since last year and while the challenge is very tough, I have been looking for someone who can code. If anyone here is interested to help I would love to hear from you (I know how slim it is to find someone with spare time or the will to help!)

I have a thread on TA about it here, and also have my vision for the game in video form nearly complete, hoping that it will help attract some help on the coding side of things :)
All the best in your search with this. As to your other query --

My network has always been modem to router to whatever connects to it, regular setup most places would use.

I think I know what's happening here. Correct me if I am wrong about your setup first:

1. Your ISP line goes to a modem, ADSL, I assume, through a phone line

2. The modem then connects to the router

3. The router gives the rest of your network the IPs via WiFi

If this is your setup, or close to it then the issue might be:

1. The modem and router have the same local IP. This is usually 192.168.1.1

2. Your phone connects via DHCP and it's told by the router than the router IP is 192... but then so is the modem's

3. In this scenario the phone will connect for a while but eventually lose the connection

Fix:

1. Access the router settings, but first switch off the modem and remove its line from the router

2. Login to your router via 192.168.1.1

3. Change its range from 192 to 172.168.1.1

4. Restart router, connect modem, set iPhone to DHCP

5. Make sure the modem is connected to the WAN port of the router

It should work now. Hope this helps.

YAY I'm the last person in my family to get an iPod touch/iPhone :D

What are the must haves? From fiddling with my sisters iPhone I've realized I hate things that simulate analog input.

This thing is pretty sweet so far.

New App Recommendation! Hoggy

9k6k1v.jpg

It looks like Kirby, and steals ample ideas from Mario (and a sound effect from Sonic), but its a fun little puzzle platformer.

It feels like those puzzle areas in Wario Land 4, remember those? It's just filled with really tricky mind benders that you have to both figure out how to accomplish, and then actually pull it off with great timing and skill.

Controls are perfect - tilt the iPhone to move left and right, and tap the screen to basically swap gravity, so you fly from floor to ceiling.

Don't let the childish graphics or blatant asset theft put you off, this is one cool iPhone game.

Hoggy £1.79 (Lite)

Please keep your recommendations coming people. With 50,000 games on the store, its very easy for great games to slip by the GAF collective. If you find something fun, let us know!

Somebody recommended a game to me recently, and I have completely forgotten what it's called. Maybe one of you can help? It was apparently a bit Canabalt, a bit Doodle Jump, and featured a man in a backpack jumping and running through some levels - I think one might have been a jungle. I realise that this is vague, but that's what I've got.

It wasn't Hook Champ, was it? Here's the demo for it. ^_^

So does it play like VVVVVV (flash game) kinda? Like is the gravity switch the only other control input?

Those are some pretty tasty visuals!

Edit: Found a video. Does it play as slow/sloppy as it looks?

Thank you for that reply but I feel that it's not the problem, my ipod always connects to 192.168.0.104 and it never clashes with the laptop and two pc's in the house (I been checking quite often in my quest to fix this) but I will give this a go. BTW my cable internet comes from a line out in the street, no phone line used.

One problem seems to be that the wifi on the devices doesn't like mixed b/g mode sometimes, someone on a google search fixed his drop outs by changing it to G mode only but I can't do that, my router only allows mixed or b/g/n only.

So annoying, it's just apple's shabby wifi software causing this neck ache.

And that's the one. It was a briefcase, not a backpack, so well done with that. Bought, and I'll get back to you all.

EDIT: Oh, yeah: I would pay proper money for VVVVVV on the iPhone. Even more for the iPad, I suspect.

As a rule I now tend to avoid any games with sleazy marketing. In this case, the use of the subtitle "INSANELY ADDICTIVE". Not only directly stealing from Doodle Jumper, but it's such a trashy way to market the game. Doodle Jumper's marketing is obnoxious enough, now we have to deal with not only consumer's reviewing EVERY game as "highly addicting!", but the developers too.

the slow response is basically the gameplay hook - you tap the screen to charge your jumps. it takes a while to get used to, but i dig it because there's more margin for error than in doodle jump or canabalt.

and sure, the AV presentation doesn't hurt.

Anyone know what to do if an app just keeps redownloading. I got astro ranch for free and the download just keeps looping so it never actually gets to my applications list. It downloads then the progress bar resets and it starts over... Ive tried deleting it and getting it again from the store. Has this ever happened to anyone?

Did anyone try out Ozone? I adore this game, if you like

You may like this game!

Yup, I did. It's great.

Thanks for the heads-up. I bought this earlier and am just over half way through the Earth stages. It looks and sounds great, and it plays super well.

It reminds me of Soul Bubbles.

:D

Does anyone know a work around for the wifi dropping completely every 30 minutes to my router? from spending like 3 days trying to find a fix by trial & error and google searches it seems that the way the device uses wifi is just buggy sometimes, and can cause problems where other wifi items like laptops and computers never have a struggle.

My problem is that when playing an online game my wifi completely drops off after 30 minutes, only coming back when I revisit the touch springboard to allow it to reconnect, then it's fine again for 30 minutes.

is it a dhcp problem or something? I have tried everything under the sun, and I just can't go out and buy a new router, no spare cash and already on my 2nd router in 6 months, same problems. I also know it's NOT the touch that is broken.

This is a well documented problem of the iPad having issues with routers that are set to multiple frequency. Most likely, your router is set for b,g and n. Just select one (g as most devices are g capable) and no auto select and presto! No more drops :)

I would also like the answer to this question- this is happening to me with Cobra Command :/

EDIT: I think I found a solution- syncing my iPod seemed to do the trick for me.

I played many many iPhone games, but there are only three games that I keep coming back to: Drop 7, DownToZero and Sword & Poker.

I like it, but half the time I don't have a clue what i'm doing.. Any tips?
try to get to floor 20 without dying, find the sword, then go back up.

if you see something that looks scary, run like hell.

i don't particularly go out of my way to level up_ just as long as the monsters and gold are giving me significant returns_ and have made it pretty far, though not to the back up part.

Sword of Fargoal is incredible. I even bought the iPad version.

I've been playing this and I like it, but am I right in thinking that the only equipment you get is shields? Seems a bit odd for a rogue-like.

So is it wrong that my OCD is compelling me to uncover every inch if every floor before moving down?
